  • it always makes me think of a car crash i was in.
...It's only after disaster that we can be resurrected...
it's only after you've lost everything ...that you are free to do anything....(Fight Club)

... I'll ride the wave...where it takes me....
  • I'm completely in love with this song, i want to put all my love towards this song, because i have no where else to put it, and this is the perfect place, because i adore this song. It calms me and is just so brilliant.
"But you see, you get more for your money with the big ones. It's like a two for one special."

That was the line I used when dating to convince girls they should like fat guys.

    -Boosk.
  • its very soothing.

gives me a floating or gliding feeling.

    woosh.
Come on pilgrim you know he loves you..

Oh my, they dropped the leash.

Morgan Freeman/Clint Eastwood 08' for President!

    "Make our day"
  • "Can't see my tracks your scent way back."

This line alone speaks very clearly to me. It reminds me of a love I once felt, felt for years. She left me, without giving a reason... On many nights, I can still feel her in my arms, feel her lips, and smell her scent. For a long while I had tried many things to get back with her, but it was a lost cause. I had lost my tracks.
    .

wow, i never saw it in that way. That's beautiful.

I think I've posted this somewhere before, but I'd never fully appreciated this song until Benaroya. Now it's one of my absolute favorites. A gem I stupidly missed first time around!

I too did not come to really appreciate it until Benaroya. For the life of me I
do not know why. Now I listen to it just about every night before I go to bed.

This is my favorite PJ song, and my future wedding dance song. My fiance loves this song too!

I think out of all the PJ songs these lyrics are the most complex, but I have no doubt this is a love song and a song about the path of life.

The whole song is devoted to speaking of an individuals trek to stay on the path. The 'low light' is the spiritual light guiding one on the path...

"low light... side tracked... low light, can't see my tracks your scent way back".. This is a line about getting lost off this person's path and finding the way back through the scent of a loved one.

"Books and jeolousy tell me wrong, I will feel calm"... speaks for itself... clearly about love.

"low light... car crash... low light... can't wear my mask... your first... my last." This is a line about love too, in desperate times dependence makes loved ones vulnerable (hence with no mask)... the last part (your first... my last)... just sub in your first 'love'... my last 'love'..

"Two birds is what they'll see getting lost upon their way"... This is my favorite line... once again it's about the path and getting lost on it... but together... it's the outside world's viewing the relationship.

"Low light... eyesight... low light... I need the light... I'll find my way, from wrong... what's real?... OUR DREAM I SEE.." I think this sums it up perfectly, the couples dream... finding it through this spiritual light... staying on the path.. asking questions... finding answers...

    love this song!
  • It's one of my top 5 favorite PJ songs. It doesn't get enough love.

I agree with it being relaxing....it's just a beautiful song.

    love this song!

You can tell the whole Yield album is a period of Eddie struggling with spirituality. This song is another testament to that.

For me it is more of a melancholy feeling - kind of like everything is a blur. Everything has not quite enough light since she has been gone.

Although she is gone, still "Your dream I see."

Perhaps there was actually a car crash. He is just sort of moving along in a haze - in shock that he can be here all alone.
  • i'm mostly reminded of the segment of svt with this song... really cool.
"Of course it hurts. You're getting fucked by an elephant."

For me, Low Light isn´t about love. I think it´s very much about lonelyness.
It sounds like someone whos not in touch with the world is talking. Like being lonely clears up his mind and makes him crazy at the same time.
Clouds roll by... someone who begins to recognize the nature around him (the "present tense" effect). ..can´t wear my mask.. he can´t run away from himself and the lies anymore, he won´t ever again be what others want to see in him. ...cannot be here all alone, clear a path to my home... but besides all those free thoughts, he`s is just lonely and sad. Truth sets you free but it hurts at the same time.

I just could write a book about it, but the songs too beautiful for that. Some of my photos are inspired by it, but more by the feeling I get when I listen to it...

Yes, I only recently have sort of though of it as a love song. The main theme of the song is that everything going on around him is dim and he is not really all that effected. He have his own path. He is sad, lonely, but determined.

Eddie is so clever - he changes lines when he does these songs live and that last one changes this song completely

    Whether it is

the dream I see (which I think is what he says on Yield)
    Your dream I see
    or
    Our dream I see

I think each one of them completely transforms the entire song.

Which is just another reason to love it!

  • i have no real understanding of the meaning of the song, but to me it makes me feel like all my ways, everything thing i do is ok cause thats just me.. i might of not understood myself before or been happy with who i am but i am now and thats ok

    Clouds roll by...
    Reeling is what they say,
Or is it just my way...

    thats my fave line,

but then again on other days i think differently about what it means to me.. thats the best kinda example i can give
  • Low Light is a great soothing song. It is perfectly placed on the album Yield, too. It's a caring friend when you don't have one - the best songs have a soul and this one certainly does. I could never picture myself mad when this song plays...
