  • When I need to relax I put this song on repeat. I think there is something very calming about for some reason. It is a song that clears my mind almost everytime I listen to it.

  • I was really in love with a gilr in HS named Cassy...I never had a chance with her...but every time I hear LowLight...I think of her...I dont know why...but I do. :)
I make the shapes come much too close
    I pull my eyes out
    Hold my breath
    And wait until I shake...

I cannot write poetry and I usually do not understand it. More than most PJ songs Lowlight is like poetry to me yet somehow I can still feel its emotion and imagery.

  • My head gets lost in the clouds everytime I hear this song
It doesnt hurt.... when I bleed
    but memories...they eat me
    I've seen it all before,...

I think I've posted this somewhere before, but I'd never fully appreciated this song until Benaroya. Now it's one of my absolute favorites. A gem I stupidly missed first time around!

two birds is what they'll see
    getting lost upon their way
    wind rolls by
    low light
    eyesight
    low light
    i need the light
i'll find my way from wrong
what's real, our dream i see

a very special song for me, not sure why or what the lyrics mean but it always makes me feel warm and fuzzy...and that's the most important thing. its what jeff talks about in svt about how music can change your mood. so true. favorite pearl jam song.
i was lucky enough to see it at msg last year:)
  • I just love this song on Benaroya Hall 2003. :)
  • I remember Bridge 2001 when they first played this one live. I was so happy, thought they would never play it live. I still think this is the best version they have ever played, but I looove the one I got to hear at the Fleet center as well :)
makes much more sense to live in the present tense

This song is so perfect, the lyrics and the melody match. It all about being great with yourself - always confident - always safe - like a dream....but not my dream, that would only be wonderful, but even better - it is your dream.

    Clouds roll by...
    Reeling is what they say,
Or is it just my way...

Brilliant line, a line most everyone can relate to, our perceptions of the world!!

Phenomenal song, truly a great, I get that it's about a guy who is learning and marching forward on the road of life, there's still so many more answers he needs, and things he wants to understand, but what he has learned, he's learned, and he's moving on...

those are my favorite lines :) i love the feeling it conjures up for me too.
  • "Can't see my tracks your scent way back."

This line alone speaks very clearly to me. It reminds me of a love I once felt, felt for years. She left me, without giving a reason... On many nights, I can still feel her in my arms, feel her lips, and smell her scent. For a long while I had tried many things to get back with her, but it was a lost cause. I had lost my tracks.

I had been very broken up about this, and for some reason I listen to Pearl Jam like I'm getting paid for it during depression.

Once I had found a time where I could speak with her agian, I told her how I felt, which was something she had already know. (side note: It was so obvious, total strangers would have been able to look and know with 100% accuracy the exact person I was longing for.) I then told her I can not play this game anymore. I would not allow her to hold my heart by a choke collar while I sat back stuck as an observer. It was at that moment when I could once agian taste my own freedom.

Many of my poems in the poetry section of this forum are related to her, but not in a loving way. I still wear my crown of negativity and it will remain there until someone else comes along removes it for me, allowing me to fall into the tears I have yet to shed.

this song is so powerful for me to listen to that i don't listen to it unless i am capable of being transported to that place in my mind/my heart...my past. it's also soothing to play on the guitar (and easy too). *breaks out acoustic*

  • I never gave it much attention. I like the rocking songs a bit more. But eeing how I can relate to most of your stories, I guess I should check it out and really get the feel of it. Damn school! I'm stuck with AiC at the moment. I'll check it out first thing when I'm home.
  • Nothing. Lowlight just doesn't touch me.

That about sums me up right now. Beautiful way of saying it.

Actually, it was written by Mr. Cool Cat, Jeff Ament.

Low Light is a year or so after "Black" Black being the absence of all color. Time has rolled by and now its gone from no light to low light.
