Nothing like a radical poster to incite a riot in the barn.  I love it!   It's about time things started shaking.

    Fuck yeah.
Jeff sounds like Kanye. Too bad he didn’t have the balls to defend Kanye’s right to free speech in his magazine interview and instead slagged him for supporting Trump. Jeff didn’t get “dragon energy” and the Missoula concert proved it.
Or maybe you were upset about Planned Parenthood being there.
    I couldn't care a less
You cared enough to mention it in the other thread.
Really? You are going to purposely choose to manipulate what I said? Why? Clearly it is intentional. Some of you are really interesting cats.
You brought up Planned Parenthood. I’m suggesting that may have effected your reaction to the show rather than vague references to tiger energy or whatever the heck.
I didn't just "bring up Planned Parenthood" you liar. I am effectively pro choice and don't have a feeling towards Planned Parenthood one way or another. What I said is that there could be "others" who might not want their money going to a Planned Parenthood associated event. In a state like Montana that is within the realm of possibilities. And it's "Dragon Energy" for F sakes which is different then "Tiger Blood"! What kind of moron confuses his Kanye with Charlie!!!
Here’s your quote. I guess it’s not clear who you’re referencing when you say ‘not everybody’ when prior to that you were talking about your reaction exclusively.
”I agree but I also understand that not everybody wants their money to go to or
    be associated with Planned Parenthood.”

You dont sample a legend like Gil Scot Heron and then rap about Maybachs and brag about your wealth.... Kanye could have been great, but he's just another materialistic loser

Oh man, you said it.  And I could be wrong, but I'm guessing Gil Scot Heron would have said of Kanye West, "This is not the revolution."

What do you think of someone like Kanye West recently coming out in support of Trump?

“I love Kanye, I saw the last Kanye tour and I thought it was one of the greatest things ever, but then when he opened his mouth, I swung the other way. I think he’s just, you know, with the Kardashians and that whole thing. All of it is just a big publicity stunt. He’s been out of the news for a few months, so I think he’s looking to generate some. He says something about dragons, I don’t know, dragon energy, whatever that is.”

Does this affect your enjoyment of his music?

“I have a hard time separating the art from the artist. There’s certain artists where I don’t read their interviews because it really affects me enjoying their music. I wish I hadn’t opened that text that had the article about dragon energy and Donald Trump. It’s unfortunate.”

Exactly. "...with the Kardashians and that whole thing. All of it is just a big publicity stunt." Way to defend a fellow artist. "Love Kanye...but then when he opened his mouth, I swung the other way." Pathetic if you ask me.
good thing we didnt ask you then huh.

Explain what this has to do with free speech, other than Jeff exercising his?
You all keep saying that you can do "nuance"...but I wonder. Yes it is Jeff exercising his speech. He is entitled. He is not required to say anything. What I am suggesting with my speech is that these words from an artist who strongly believes in artistic freedom are frankly pathetic. A true believer in artistic freedom would have made a point of saying that "Even though I disagree...Kanye is a unique individual which is what makes his music great...which is why I love him in the first place...it's what makes Ye Ye." Jeff didn't do that. He questioned Kanye's integrity. An artist who takes controversial stances shouldn't do that to another artist who takes opposite controversial stances. They should embrace each other. They should support each other. It's artistic freedom that is at stake.
except no where in his statement did he say kanye didnt have the right to say what he wanted. Simply offered opinion as to motivation and that he was put off him and his music because of it.

so in the end, Kanye is still a rich dumbass free to say whatever dumbass shit he wants(like publically admitting to jerking off to pics of his sisters in law) and Jeff made a choice to deny himself music he stated he loved and enjoyed. who lost in this?

The Republican Party and Fox News are upset about a poster.

Let the simplicity and the pettiness and irony of that sink it briefly before I launch into the pure fuckery that is our Government.

    A poster.
    A poster.

    No...
    Listen...
    A poster.

A rock n' roll poster has made NATIONAL news.

Not a group of Nazi's with tiki torches marching at a college.
Not a car plowing through protesters.
Not a madman with an assault rifle killing children.
Not a president who has pulled out of the Paris Accords.
    Not children being caged.
Not when the President cut funding for Public Television.
Not native Americans being forced off their land for a pipeline.
Not a president who openly admitted to sexually assaulting females.
Not a president who had a sexual relationship with a porn star.
AND COVERED IT UP WITH HUSH MONEY!!!!
Not a proven relationship with a foreign government who influenced the American voting process.

No... they aren't upset or outraged about ANY of those things.

Do you hear what I'm saying?

    A poster.

    A rock n roll poster...

A POSTER for a ROCK CONCERT has literally upset the the Republican Party.
The Republican Party is the the group who has coined the phrase "snowflake" and who has admonished millennials for being overly sensitive.

What kind of twisted, bizarro alternative fucking universe are we living in?

You've got your panties allllllll twisted because of a poster.

Let me get out this tiny violin for you multi-millionaires.

All of that has been national news for months.
This poster and the news around it has been around for months?  Really?
Before Alex Jones had his time out, he was reporting that a cabal of artists were conspiring against Team Trump Treason through a soon to be released stealth campaign in a surprising and disturbing location because of its vast importance to control of the senate, one that you wouldn't think would be attacked as its the heart of the conservative homeland and that it had to be stopped. He was sworn to secrecy by Q but was going to be given all the information required prior to tell his listeners when and how they could stop it. But first they had to donate whatever they could afford so he could pay the clergy to pray for their souls, so horrific this mission would be. But now, the 4th estate corrupted their heroic plan and the plot has proceeded. You see folks, Jeff Ament’s poster (see his early art work that predicted Comet Pizza, Elvis' disappearance, the Kennedy assassinations, Mt. St. Helens' eruption and his band mate plays a song called Eruption-further evidence) is really a magic mirror into the future and the deep state has the assistance of aliens as evidenced by the spaceship in the lower left of the image. This is serious folks and if you don’t donate to the cause, to stop the mind enslavement of conservatives and the gutting of their values by removing their dear leader, you will suffer in the flames and be lost. Donate now, donate now, I beg of you to donate now and stop this smelly, stinky, unwashed artists plot of the sweat of Satan and his minions. I beg of you, donate now! #alexjonessavesmontanaandthustheUSA

The point is they are outraged over a poster.

    Not the things that matter.

Don't forget about kneeling black people too.  So don't go saying they don't have the right focus.

    A poster.
    A poster.

    No...
    Listen...

Nothing like a radical poster to incite a riot in the barn.  I love it!   It's about time things started shaking.

  • Anyone have one of these they would like to sell (face value only)? It will go well with my fond memory of Ed  replacing the word "policeman" with "orange president" during the one verse of WMA on N2 in Seattle. :)

im not offended, but I get why some would be.
What did Obama do to be hated so much that he would be depicted on a poster in such a way? Other than be black?

    I’m not saying he did.
i just find it funny that conservatives get made fun of for being offended for something like this, but if the shoe was on the other foot there’s probably be marches and boycotts over it.
I also think it’s very understandable to be upset that a current president is depicted as dead with a bird eating him. Also why I don’t get the poking fun at them.
Having racist undertones isn't comparable. There is nothing racist about this poster. And yeah, as mentioned, Trump DESERVES this kind of reaction. He's created it himself. I think it's pretty crazy for conservatives to think that Trump is going to get away with what he does without any kind of backlash, including through artistic expression.
That was basically my point. No one mentioned racism, I just said I find it funny that many are making fun of those who are offended, when I know for a fact there would be even more outrage if this poster came out a few years ago depicting Obama.
Your response is that having racist undertones isn’t comparable. All I said was if this has Obama instead, and now that is suddenly racist?
Why are conservatives “snowflakes” for getting offended, but it’s okay to accuse anyone who doesn’t like obama as a racist?
I think the poster is sort of ugly, but the symbolism doesn’t bother me. I’d buy it if it actually said “Pearl Jam” anywhere one it and I was there.
I just find the difference funny. All the lashing towards anyone who is offended, but imagine a poster made of Hilary? Facebook would crash from all the responses and protests over it. I have no doubt the hysteria would be 10 times what it is if this depicted anyone on the left, so let’s just stop poking fun at everyone who doesn’t like it. Or not, because it’s actually amusing to me when they do.
