Yeah, I've only had about an ounce of it so far. It is fantastic!BIGDaddyWil said:
You lucky bastard! Amazing juice! I was able to try a few ounces a couple years ago.mca47 said:Scored a Russell's Reserve 13 Year yesterday. Been wanting to get my hands on one for a long time, and I got lucky with Total Wine's Grand Reserve/Priority Access thing. Gonna pop it this weekend. Hahaha...maybe in a few years I can get a 15 year.0 -

That sounds awful! Hope they get back on track soon.PJ_Soul said:There is a strike that's closed liquor distribution in BC, so finding any kind of whiskey has become almost impossible at this point. I just found a bottle of Canadian Club and I am feeling really lucky. I hope the government gives the workers what they deserve ASAP! Restaurants and bars are running out of booze now, and shelves in private liquor stores are practically bare. Brutal! Especially on Canadian Thanksgivijg weekend! I'm betting that families are drinking all kinds of weird drinks that normally have low sales, lol.
The strike finally ended last week! It got so bad, there were some scumbag private liquor store owners who started price gouging. One place was selling cheap boxes of wine for $150!!!
All - and I do mean ALL - of the whiskey was gone. But that's over now, and all the stores are slowly restocking. Yay. With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata0 -
That's great news! Bummer about the price gouging but that's human beings for you.PJ_Soul said:dudeman said:

I hope your faves become available for reasonable prices soon! Cheers! If hope can grow from dirt like me, it can be done. - EV0 -
Dropped scotch and bourbon, into tequila now. Sooooo good. Cheers everyone!
I'll ride the wave where it takes me......0 -
Glad you're digging that stuff. Tequila and I are chemically incompatible. I'm sitting here sipping on some Woodford Reserve Double Oaked, feeling very fortunate that I'm not drinking tequila.mcgruff10 said:

Are you downing that stuff straight, on the rocks or in cocktails? If hope can grow from dirt like me, it can be done. - EV0 -
I mix it with seltzer and lime. It is really really good, much better than vodka.I'll ride the wave where it takes me......0

I do like me some tequila. That said, Casamigos has additives in it. I try to stick with the brands that are legit and have been tested to truly be 100% agave. Lots of lawsuits coming down the pipeline for some of these brands!mcgruff10 said:

Oh I had no clue! I m a total rookie in the tequila world. What brands do you recommend? Thanks!!mca47 said:

This stuff is really nice. Easy drinking and one of the smoothest I've tried. I haven't had too many wheated bourbons but I really like this one. Probably would be a great one to introduce new people to bourbon as it isn't terribly spicy but it is complex enough to be interesting. To me anyway. If hope can grow from dirt like me, it can be done. - EV0 -
Some findable and not overly expensive brands I would recommend are Ocho, and G4.mcgruff10 said:

Had a couple friends over and this bottle was finished. It went pretty fast and it was smooth the whole way down. Definitely going to replace it with another one.dudeman said:

I have only tried a handful of wheated bourbons: Maker's Mark, Weller Special Reserve and Larceny. This Green River is better than all of those, IMO. Even better is that I can find it consistently at the grocery store for $35.00.If hope can grow from dirt like me, it can be done. - EV0 -
Got to try Weller Antique 107 last night. Pretty damn good stuff! If hope can grow from dirt like me, it can be done. - EV0

Jim beam shutting down for a year…not great.0

Heard about that the other day. Hopefully they will be rolling along smoothly afterward.Cliffy6745 said:Jim beam shutting down for a year…not great. If hope can grow from dirt like me, it can be done. - EV0 -
I thought they were shutting down production at the main facility? They have some other satellite locations that are still distilling.0

Bought this on a whim.Pleasantly surprised. But now I have to wait until Super Bowl Sunday because it’s Dry January…0 -
I believe it's just one of their facilities, not all. The whole bourbon industry is recalibrating right now. The tariffs have been a big problem as foreign countries aren't importing much, people aren't drinking as much and the backlog. A few years ago every distillery was pumping out product to match demand of the then surging industry. It's not right now for many reasons, and in the state of Kentucky, each distiller has to pay an annual tax on each barrel that just sits there. There is an estimated 16 million barrels currently aging in Kentucky. In the last year, some big boys in the industry have filed for bankruptcy and i expect that to continue as I also expect craft distilleries to take a huge hit and many bought out or completely disappear.Cliffy6745 said:Jim beam shutting down for a year…not great.
That said, while it sucks for them, I do think the consumer will ultimately benefit. I think prices will come down as they will need to financially need to get barrels in bottles, allocated items will get easier to find (hell, Buffalo Trace products are just sitting on shelves now), and I think we might see more creative releases from the big distilleries....again, to get barrels in bottles and on shelves.0 -
When Blantons finally goes below 100 like it should be I will rejoice and hopefully seek out a nice bottle of William LaRue Weller Antique COllection.mca47 said:

Nice! The only Doc Swinson's I have had is the Alter Ego Triple Cask. It was very good. It drank pretty hot but it was 140-ish proof, if I recall correctly. Definitely complex and interesting but I hadn't tried too many cask strength bourbons at that point so it was a little overwhelming for me. I'd like to try it again sometime now that I have a little more experience and could probably handle it better. It had a finish that seemed to hang on forever!tempo_n_groove said:
