I tried making my own mustard last week......worst stuff I ever tasted.
I have a lot of left over seed if anybody has some pointers or recipe to try.
The worst of times..they don't phase me,
even if I look and act really crazy.

I paid 5.99 for a bag of these.
Greatest store bought pretzel I ever tasted.

Mustard in general, or the stuff that you made?  I’ve never made mustard myself, so I don’t have any recipients or suggestions for you.  Hopefully you find something good.

Cheers!  Isn’t that what all the prairie kids grew up drinking? It’s still the husband’s favourite.  Sadly, We cannot find it in bottles out here on the coast.

So is the fish gutted and just lays on top with both sides closed? No filling?

Yeah, there's a small slit on the bottom side where it was gutted. Too small to really stuff it with anything. Being a flatfish, the guts don't run the length of its body.

Those flatfish all look similar. Definitely Brill, though.

I tried an America's Test Kitchen recipe for a quinoa veggie stew. It was good. In the second try I added beans, and it was still good. Next time I'll make mushroom stock, and see if I can make the stew a little richer in taste. Also, I'll add a little coconut milk.

Any suggestions on how to make a good stock better? In particular, a veggie stock.

Went pretty basic on my first night on Oahu, but many more with better backgrounds in store for the coming weeks.....
  • Excellent, are you staying on Oahu or island hopping?

Hit up the east shore for some great food truck eats.  I had some amazing shrimp dishes and fresh ono.

On Oahu. We have an office out here and they were in a bind for 2 months so I graciously offered if they flew the family out for Thanksgiving. No brainer.

May hit Kauai, but inter-island travel is still a bit of a hassle, so I hear.

Yeah, I'm over that way for work in Kaneohe and they have some stellar spots, or at least they used to.

I literally haven't had a meal other than breakfast since getting here Monday that wasn't grilled or raw fish. So damn good, and fresh.
