That pizza with the carmelized onions and the toasted breadcrumbs looks amazing. I have never seen toasted breadcrumbs on a pizza before. Now I want to try it.
They messed up and made a Sicilian on a Grandma crust. Delicious
that looks great…the only improvement I can see would be a little more crisp on the pepperoni.
If I had known then what I know now...

Same never heard of it, and Eater recently listed the essential pizzerias of new york and they had one on that list:
A sfincione slice at Famous Ben’s.
177 Spring St New York, NY 10012
"Founded in 1979 by Ben and Debbie Aliotta, Famous Ben’s manages to channel a Sicilian focacceria in addition to turning out typical Neapolitan pies with a broad range of toppings. One of the more fascinating offerings is the sfincione — a thich rectantular slice topped with bread crumbs and pureed onions, rather than the usual tomato sauce and cheese. Other Sicilian recipes abound at this atypical neighborhood pizzeria."
Perhaps our Italian friends can tell us how to pronounce sfincione. Edit: they seem to call it the palermo on their website
D’Oliva in Philly. They have about a million and 3 different options for pizza, so we always end up getting something different and we’re always pleased with it. This time it was “Romana style thin crust” with the upside down option.
