Why don’t the Dems just put forth a spending bill that includes verbiage of being for the wall once funding is secured from Mexico?
because trump claims mexico's funding of the wall will come from NAFTA 2.0.
Then track the delta between old Nafta and new NAFTA and build the wall once you have the $. Put that wording in
dems don't want a wall. they want policy reform. a wall is not needed.

calling his bluff won't do anything.
    Political win.

BUt let's be honest, Dems don't want policy reform.  C'mon...they like the status quo.
I don't know how much of a political win it would be.

how so? isn't it a talking point by the right that Obama deported more non-americans than any other president?

unfortunately impeachment also depends completely on a vote of congress. which can simply vote down party lines, and this one probably will.
That's the thing... Frankly, I think the impeachment process is totally stupid. I feel that it's way too subjective and political. But obviously my opinion about that matters not.

Is it? I don't think it was talked about much on Fox and right wing outlets. I often see conservatives post videos of Obama talking about being tough on immigration and the responses are generally along the lines of: what a hypocrite. So either it wasn't reported on conservative sites or they have forgotten.

I have seen it mentioned quite often here. and yes, the hypocrisy was mentioned, but in the opposite direction, that if he was so inclusive and welcoming why did he deport so many people?

Reminding everyone that trump said Mexico would pay for the wall AND now he is shutting down the government till the US taxpayers pay for the wall.

You know with trump you are right, it won't matter...but this is freakin crazy.

I don't think conservatives like that talking point. It suggests that democrats actually don't want an open border (aka don't want to open the flood gates). That theory is a major tool to keep republicans angry and scared - they don't want GOPers thinking maybe the dems aren't going to let a billion refugees in the second they get the chance.

I think it was more of a quid pro quo....he wanted more lenient rules for "dreamers" so he in turn was more strict on the non dreamers.

possibly....if it is bad enough I think they will get enough GOP votes.  There should be enough GOP with spines to realize how vulnerable they would be in 2020 if they don't impeach.
Any institution can be corrupted by man.  The DOJ could cease all probes related to Trump.  The DOJ could order the arrest of Democratic leaders.  The House could have the Executive branch refuse its subpoenas and then ignore a SCOTUS ruling that is unfavorable.  Every institution we have in this country is built on the back of the integrity of the members.  If we lose that, the whole Constitution crumbles.  Therefore, the wisdom to rely (or not rely) on the impeachment process is just as wise and sound as relying on any of the other checks and balances embedded in teh founding documents.

The risk to our country is not Trump directly, it is the members of Congress who carry the president's water.  I'm talking about Nunes, Hatch, Matt Gaetz, and the others who obstruct transparency in government or fail to condemn real issues.

The following repub members of the senate are up for re-election in 2020 for a total of 21 (these are just the ones I think that impeachment can be made into a legitimate campaign issue against them. The others are in such red states that it won't matter):

    Ben Sasse, NE
    Cory Gardner, CO
    John Cornyn, TX
    Jim Inhofe, OK
    Pat Roberts, KN
Tom "I'm a Warrior, Hear Me Roar" Cotton, AR
    Lamar Alexander, TN
    Mitch McConnell, KY
    Shelly Moore, WV
    Lindsey Graham, SC
    Susan Collins, ME

That makes what I think are 31 current repub senators not up for re-election to look deep into their souls for the long term survival of the repub party and the republic. After Team Mueller's report is issued and the dem house begins hearings, the information flowing forth will be extremely difficult to dismiss out of sleight of hand like Orifice Hatch did the other day. The pressure will be immense on all 52 repub members of the senate and we only need 19 (10 of 21 up for re-election being vulnerable) to flip. And if Team Trump Treason isn't convicted upon impeachment and dare I say, wins re-election? Then America deserves everything it gets and those who support/ed Team Trump Treason will be to blame. If you've read the SDNY sentencing recommendations for Cohen and see what he did, how he did it and why, you'll know that Team Trump Treason (the whole family) is 10 times worse. Bigger than Watergate, much bigger.

Follow the money from Russia with love and a PTape all the way to impeachment.

They are kinda damned if they do and damned if they don't.  At least as of now, Trump is super-popular within the GOP.  His base is their base.  But if the tide turns enough (it has not), then they'd be screwed in a race vs. a Democrat...at least in contested states/districts.

While it won't have the headlines like Friday, today was a very, very bad day for Trump.

In Arkansas, I’d run ads with saddam Hussein’s face melding into Team Trump Treason ‘s while the voice over intoned whether this was what Tom “I’m a Warrior, Hear Me Roar” Cotton fought for in Iraq. For lawlessness? For despotic rulers who ignore the rule of law? For others who murder journalists? Is that making America great again? Call senator cotton and tell him to vote for what is right.

Rick Santorum declined to accept the chief of staff position, if it were to be extended. Nobody wants to work for the POS. Surprised?
I don't know what's sadder: Having to offer that position to Santorum, or him being like "Nah, I'm good."

Santorum is actually the first non-President/Vice President politician that I ever heard of. When I was about 10 or 11 years old, I was walking home from the bus stop and found a "Santorum for Senate" brochure on the side of the road in the mud. First time I had ever seen something like that. I got home and asked my father, "Dad, are you going to vote for Rick Santorum?" He emphatically replied "No way" and even joked that I shouldn't be saying bad words.

This post of yours is the first I've heard that Trump offered Santorum that position. I had to call my father and tell him. We had a good laugh over the fact that Trump has officially hit rock bottom (from a White House staff perspective....because obviously rock bottom is the fact that Trump wants to fuck his daughter) in having to ask (and be rejected by!) Rick Santorum.

I'm not sure that he was "officially" offered the position. He was on CNN and it was mentioned that he was at the Army/Navy game with Team Trump Treason and it was rumored that he was being considered. As such he was asked if he'd accept it, if offered, after they played Team Trump Treason Tweets and speeches where team Trump Treason lambasts him for all kinds of failures, including losing his senate race by 18 points and then deciding to run for president. You could sense the slow burn Santorum was feeling and then he said he'd turn it down because of "family." Yea, he turned it down because of who he'd be working for. Down to the "E" list.

And read the Cohen SDNY sentencing filing. It mentions "other Team Trump Treason Organization employees directed....." That can only mean Ivanka, Eric and Donny, Jr. There are no "other" Team Trump Treason Organization "employees."

2019 is going to be a GREAT year!

Which leads me to believe that he won’t be able to get the art of the plea deal done as well.

    I find this incredibly disturbing:

'Death sentence': butterfly sanctuary to be bulldozed for Trump's border wall

“Border walls are death sentences for wildlife and humans alike,” said Amanda Munro of the Southwest Environmental Center, an organization that works to restore and protect native wildlife and habitats. “They block wild animals from accessing the food, water, and mates they need to survive. They weaken genetic diversity, fragment habitat, and trap animals in deadly floods. At the same time, they drive desperate asylum-seekers to risk their lives in the unforgiving desert.”

“The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man [or woman] who lives fully is prepared to die at any time.”
Variously credited to Mark Twain or Edward Abbey.

That should come as no surprise.  The only thing Trump cares about is money and himself...and only whether he has money.  Trump, his wife and his kids are pond scums, every last one of those fuckers.  Is the youngest fair game, because he will turn just as awful as the rest of those shits...
