Will is one of the first and is early to the game. There haven’t been enough “good”
repubes (and I’ll continue to use that term until the party earns my respect
back) speaking out against Team Trump Treason and his abhorrent behavior,
personal and legislative. I have voted repube in the past, statewide and for
congress. It comes down to their positions. I haven’t voted repube for president
since 1984. I respect Kasich, Dole and the repubes of the Reagan era. They at
least were honest, stated their positions and were fact based or their version
of the facts. But they had facts and there was honest debate. Now? Everything
is dismissed as fake and facts don’t matter. Sorry, but I’m not buying that
type of reasoning. Team Trump Treason’s explanation for his disasterous border
policy changed 14 times from implementation to rescinding. Why the war on
incumbents? If you’ve spent any time on the Hill, you’d understand that the
business of legislating is complex, there are rules, it takes time to learn the
ropes. This is by design by our founding fathers. To simply vote against
someone because they’ve been in office for “too long,” is like throwing the
baby out with the bath water. When you term limit at the federal level, you get
the Tea Party caucus, who don’t have a fucking clue as to how to get shit done
for the American people. But that’s what they want because it benefits their
donors (Koch brothers, Adelson, Sciaffes, etc.-but that’s a whole other
conversation).
I agree about Trump. I don’t about all trump supporters. I

people are a certain percentage of Team Trump Treason’s base and partly why I
despise them. I also have close friends and family that are Team Trump Treason
supporters, even going as far to give his campaign money (remember the $100
million of his own money pledge? See my comment above about a whole other
conversation-money in politics) and are “solid, great people.” However, when
you scratch the surface, ask them questions, present facts to the argument as a
counter argument, they devolve into racism and class warfare. For the most
part, they are educated, some highly so, wealthy or upper middle class, live in
nice, some exclusive neighborhoods, have never gone without and have never been
a victim, living in very safe and prosperous places. Yet they feel threatened
and can’t understand “struggle.” And this is where my caustic, vitriolic
commentary comes in, because of this entitlement, some might say white privilege,
they have no empathy nor desire to help those less fortunate, whether
personally or via politics, legislation and support of programs that lend a
hand. And this eventually leads to perpetuation of the status quo. And endemic
and institutionalized racism and bigotry is perpetuated and continued and even
those who have the drive, the smarts and ability, are held back because of the
color of their skin or where they came from (please don’t ask me to provide
links but all you have to do is research redlining, US Farmer’s Bureau loan
scandal, any number of large bank lending programs, application of criminal law
etc., etc.). And the repubes have been chipping away not only at that safety
net, lend a hand type programs for years but now their dismantling the
enforcement mechanisms. They want to take this country back to a time before
the 1950s and Jim Crow and I’m not going to be silent as it happens. As a
result, I don’t hang around with these people much anymore because I believe it
is their moral fiber and who they are. They’d never admit to being racist, they’ll
smile and say the right things in public but in private, with their guard down,
they're racist assholes. Fuck them.

I am
under no illusion that I’m changing anyone’s mind. I’m sticking up for my side
and making my case. If someone comes along and changes their perspective, fine,
it’s a bonus. It is not my primary concern to change their mind, they are lost
as I believe Digin’ has posited. I’m simply throwing up a different view point,
usually backed by links or source information to back my position or help you
understand why I believe what I do. I also don’t suffer the fools lightly who
rely upon stupid memes, personal anecedotes or personal homilies as fact based
argument. I’m going to call them out and when its repube or faux news talking
points even more so. They can double down on their factless position. Its
hilarious and just goes to show how misinformed or unknowing they are. My faith
is in the young people, not the middle aged white folk who are afraid of going
to hell for baking a wedding cake for a gay couple. The young people I know are
open to all, are educated on the issues, are sick and tired of the gun
massacres and are welcoming. The ridicule of the Parkland students who have started
a movement after witnessing the horror of gun violence is appalling, some on
here even piling on. I’ll bet they have never witnessed such horror or had the
balls in high school to organize and protest for something they firmly believed
in. That’s what’s wrong with the current debate. Jealousy will kill you (not you
personally) and some on here seem jealous that the Parkland students have not backed
down. They even went into the most violence prone areas of Chicago to show
their support and compassion for and of those victims, asking them to join them.
That’s where I have my faith, in the next generation. Most opposition on here
is living in fear of the “other” and is too far gone. I’m not changing their
mind but I will point out how wrong they are.

does need to be pointed out each and every time. However, the flow of shit,
corruption, ethics violations and so much more, too much to list, is such a

I’ll respond in bold below each of your paragraphs.
Dude George Will is late to the game. Last republican I voted for was Romney. And I voted for Obama before that. I haven’t voted for a republican candidate at the national or state level since 2008 other than Romney. Probably have a few local ones but honesty I don’t recall, I was mainly voting against incumbents since 2012.
George Will is one of the first and is early to the game. There haven’t been enough “good” repubes (and I’ll continue to use that term until the party earns my respect back) speaking out against Team Trump Treason and his abhorrent behavior, personal and legislative. I have voted repube in the past, statewide and for congress. It comes down to their positions. I haven’t voted repube for president since 1984. I respect Kasich, Dole and the repubes of the Reagan era. They at least were honest, stated their positions and were fact based or their version of the facts. But they had facts and there was honest debate. Now? Everything is dismissed as fake and facts don’t matter. Sorry, but I’m not buying that type of reasoning. Team Trump Treason’s explanation for his disasterous border policy changed 14 times from implementation to rescinding. Why the war on incumbents? If you’ve spent any time on the Hill, you’d understand that the business of legislating is complex, there are rules, it takes time to learn the ropes. This is by design by our founding fathers. To simply vote against someone because they’ve been in office for “too long,” is like throwing the baby out with the bath water. When you term limit at the federal level, you get the Tea Party caucus, who don’t have a fucking clue as to how to get shit done for the American people. But that’s what they want because it benefits their donors (Koch brothers, Adelson, Sciaffes, etc.-but that’s a whole other conversation).
I agree about Trump. I don’t about all trump supporters. I have good friends, some of which I’ve had heated disagreements with and some that we just avoid the topic. But these are solid great people. I’m trying to understand why they voted for him, and then the ones that are still supporting him why is that? I honestly don’t think they have a good answer and hope they turn it around. Mostly it’s because they hate politicians and see him as disrupting the status quo. And I think that they are so removed from where trump is doing most of his damage that they can ignore stuff they shouldn’t. I still think many will come around.
These people are a certain percentage of Team Trump Treason’s base and partly why I despise them. I also have close friends and family that are Team Trump Treason supporters, even going as far to give his campaign money (remember the $100 million of his own money pledge? See my comment above about a whole other conversation-money in politics) and are “solid, great people.” However, when you scratch the surface, ask them questions, present facts to the argument as a counter argument, they devolve into racism and class warfare. For the most part, they are educated, some highly so, wealthy or upper middle class, live in nice, some exclusive neighborhoods, have never gone without and have never been a victim, living in very safe and prosperous places. Yet they feel threatened and can’t understand “struggle.” And this is where my caustic, vitriolic commentary comes in, because of this entitlement, some might say white privilege, they have no empathy nor desire to help those less fortunate, whether personally or via politics, legislation and support of programs that lend a hand. And this eventually leads to perpetuation of the status quo. And endemic and institutionalized racism and bigotry is perpetuated and continued and even those who have the drive, the smarts and ability, are held back because of the color of their skin or where they came from (please don’t ask me to provide links but all you have to do is research redlining, US Farmer’s Bureau loan scandal, any number of large bank lending programs, application of criminal law etc., etc.). And the repubes have been chipping away not only at that safety net, lend a hand type programs for years but now their dismantling the enforcement mechanisms. They want to take this country back to a time before the 1950s and Jim Crow and I’m not going to be silent as it happens. As a result, I don’t hang around with these people much anymore because I believe it is their moral fiber and who they are. They’d never admit to being racist, they’ll smile and say the right things in public but in private, with their guard down, they're racist assholes. Fuck them.

I just dont find what you are doing to be helpful in changing people like them minds. I find it creates the fight or flight response and people double down. And I’m worried that this is going to lead to another 4 yeaes if trump. Would that be your fault? I guess not, it’s still theirs but your attacks, etc certainly aren’t helping. I’m concerned because in the primaries I see it appears the Dems are moving farther left. In my opinion that move hurts their chances in an election and could cost us. It also creates more topics where they are moving farther and farther away from my beliefs. So that sucks.
I am under no illusion that I’m changing anyone’s mind. I’m sticking up for my side and making my case. If someone comes along and changes their perspective, fine, it’s a bonus. It is not my primary concern to change their mind, they are lost as I believe Digin’ has posited. I’m simply throwing up a different view point, usually backed by links or source information to back my position or help you understand why I believe what I do. I also don’t suffer the fools lightly who rely upon stupid memes, personal anecedotes or personal homilies as fact based argument. I’m going to call them out and when its repube or faux news talking points even more so. They can double down on their factless position. Its hilarious and just goes to show how misinformed or unknowing they are. My faith is in the young people, not the middle aged white folk who are afraid of going to hell for baking a wedding cake for a gay couple. The young people I know are open to all, are educated on the issues, are sick and tired of the gun massacres and are welcoming. The ridicule of the Parkland students who have started a movement after witnessing the horror of gun violence is appalling, some on here even piling on. I’ll bet they have never witnessed such horror or had the balls in high school to organize and protest for something they firmly believed in. That’s what’s wrong with the current debate. Jealousy will kill you (not you personally) and some on here seem jealous that the Parkland students have not backed down. They even went into the most violence prone areas of Chicago to show their support and compassion for and of those victims, asking them to join them. That’s where I have my faith, in the next generation. Most opposition on here is living in fear of the “other” and is too far gone. I’m not changing their mind but I will point out how wrong they are.
How far left has the left gone? Maybe the repubes have moved way too far right? Have you considered that? I don’t own any piece of Team Trump Treason and his ilk. His election is not on me. Not my President.

So not sure where you think I’m against the “piling on”. But he still doesn’t call all trump supporters “vile human beings”. Some yes, and I’m my opinion there certainly are plenty that are. But all people that voted for trump are either mindless or vile? Either with us or against us? That’s nonsense.
It does need to be pointed out each and every time. However, the flow of shit, corruption, ethics violations and so much more, too much to list, is such a tidal wave that its hard to keep up. As such, we need more people to speak up and out, its not acceptable. Those Team Trump Treason supporters particularly. Wrong is wrong. And if they don’t, if they remain silent, if they continue to support him and his ways, yes, they are vile human beings and lack compassion, empathy and a desire to see this country go down the shitter. Nonsense? Do you remember Bush in his SOTU saying the same thing? “You’re either with us or the terrorists?” Because I opposed the Iraq war, I’m a terrorist? A war based on lies, manipulation of the press and the legislative branch and irrational fear. That was a repube president calling the American people opposed to the Iraq war, terrorists.
