I don't think anyone who has been following the uprising and increased actions of divisiveness all over the country should be surprised by any of the recent events. Not only are we on the fringes of war and conflict with foreign nations, but also within our own borders. Whether it is about police brutality, racism, sexism, xenophobia, white privilege, socioeconomic disparity or outright Nazism. All of these are at high levels of animosity, with each incident dragging this country further towards a collapse that we have not experienced. Individually these issues have plagued our history and continued to survive in pockets and under the surface up until now.
It is not that these issues are being exaggerated, but that the oppressors have been empowered once again. In the past we have had leadership in this country to keep this filth and scum down in the sewers. It may have existed, but there was not the voice it needed to emerge from the shadows. While it is important that this confrontation take place, it is unfortunate and damning that it is happening at a time when the country is being led by the most incompetent, white privileged racist piece of shit this country has elected since slavery, racism and white supremacy were the norm. If you voted for this human piece of garbage then you have twice as much responsibility in taking action to course correct the conflicts being fueled by his inability to unite and de-escalate the violence.
If you can't see that then you are a part of the problem.
