anyone have any thoughts on why Congress let the office of independent counsel die in 1999? why would Congress let a very powerful check and balance to the president expire? an office for Congress independent of the AG and DoJ? if it were still around today, we wouldn't be having any conversation about Trump firing Sessions and orMueller, we wouldn't be talking about a president trying to "dictate prosecution". maybe preet knows

Were Jesus alive today, he would be derided by the right as a "SJW." And he was a social revolutionary for his time. Andrew Sullivan distinguishes between Muslims and "Islamists," and in the same way he distinguishes between Christians and "Christianists;" I think we're seeing some of this in action. There are a lot of religious groups that claim to be Christian but whose values and mission appear to run counter to New Testament teachings; that's the only way I can explain the so-called Christian right's tolerance for Agent Orange.
I have observed that people who take their faith and Christ's message seriously have a much less positive view of 45; recall how unpopular he was in Utah. And I know a number of practicing Christians who laughed at the idea that this was the spiritually correct choice; there's nothing Christian about him, they said.
All those who seek to destroy the liberties of a democratic nation ought to know that war is the surest and shortest means to accomplish it.0 -
