Impeachment vote is going to go ahead by mid next week. Not sure what this is going to do other than put another stain on his legacy but I am all for it.

I’m not versed on all things political. Do you (or anyone) know what procedure (if any besides incarceration) prevents him from running again?

Correct these three things need to happen and in order. 1 and 3 can not happen without 2 which will never happen imo

    1. House votes for simple majority
    2. Senate has trial and needs a vote that is a supermajority (2/3rds)
    3. Senate then can vote to disqualify him from office in the future with simple majority

This is an interesting piece about GOP senators who feel but they should’ve been harsher on Trump over the last four years. It paints them is caring about their party a lot more than their country, so I can buy it.

Honestly there are a slew of GOP Senators that might want to keep tRump out of the running for 2024.  Cruz, Rubio, Hawley, probably more.

I hope so. And I hope he has destroyed any future political hopes he had which obviously included a 2024 run.

obviously he's doing that to save himself from possible prosecution of inciting it.

I still can't wrap my head around how these idiots didn't expect the violence.  It could have been worse for sure.  I have seen some trashed offices but other than broken windows, etc., it didn't seem like there was much damage done inside the capitol.  One guy they interviewed said that he was telling people not to damage anything inside.  I'm honestly surprised that they didn't destroy Pelosi's office.

Of course it's possible that we haven't been notified of all the internal damage yet.

But 5 people are dead....one murdered (the cop), and all because tRump couldn't accept his loss like a man.

One of those arrested is from Russia. Documents and electronic devices “with national security implications” were taken from congressional offices. Think of that as you will.

I mean does it really matter tho? It can't get any worse, it's as bad as it can get. They were hacking into our networks for years, too. Reagan certainly started the idea of government being evil, and now it's coming full circle. This is what we all get when we act like our own government is the enemy. Trump would sell it all out to make a penny.

in my opinion, what he tried to pull, with ZERO evidence of cheating in this election, he has forfeited his right to hold that seat.

also, his seeming to be more angry over losing his book deal than a coup attempt tells me that he does not really want his job for anything other than a stepping stone to run for president in 24.

WaPo if I can find it again. It was in their article about the number of arrests and what charges the traitors face. Mostly trespassing and curfew violations with a few facing weapons charges.
