Cobra is bs unless you have deep pockets..   The fact that the only way most Americans can afford to be insured is by having employer subsidized health care is a joke.  I don’t understand why there is such a push back for m4a, or at least the option...I would much rather have some health care based on me paying taxes than paying thousands a year for very little coverage tha5 does nothing but make insurance companies money.
What democrat is against the choice?  The only ones I know of are the ones that want to force me on M4A.

Well it looks like only 12% based on the numbers.   It even seems that a majority of republicans would support a public option upon further reading, which begs the question, why don’t we at the very least have a public option?

COBRA in normal times may not be affordable. Those do nothing dems are proposing that COBRA cover 100% of premiums while the nation reopens. But fuck those 4 million Americans because we can’t have M4A. Sounds about right.
When you say we do you include yourself.   So how would this work anyway.  If I got laid off in March and  I couldn’t afford to keep my health care because cobra is cost prohibitive,  Is the dem plan that I can just re sign up and cobra will pay for my health care? I read the article and it doesn’t explain anything very clearly.  At any rate if you can move the numbers around to pay for cobra why not just forgo that and pledge to cover the cost of all covid care instead?
To answer your bolded question, no. The model for this was the 2009 stimulus bill when 65% of the cost of employer health insurance of those unemployed was paid. Even still, it was found to be cost prohibitive, hence the 100% this time around. But yea, its a joke and both sides are the same, particularly since dems argued for this in the first pandemic stimulus bill but it didn't make it in.

The legislation would apply to anyone who has been impacted since the coronavirus crisis began in full force at the beginning of March and would remain in effect until six months after the end of the public health emergency.

The subsidies for COBRA would be available until affected people enrolled in other health insurance, whether that is another group health plan, a plan obtained through the marketplace created through the 2010 Affordable Care Act, or Medicare.

100% of your premiums would be paid by the government, with employers who furloughed workers and accepted the PPP continuing to pay their 1/3, until you found another source of health insurance or six months after the the end of the public health emergency.

Ok 17million laid off. 3.5 lost their healthcare. 13.5 million are keeping their healthcare or never had any to begin with?  So if the other 13.5 million are uninsured 20% coverage is to be celebrated and we just have to say sorry to the other 13.5 million because that’s politics? Isn’t that basically saying to the 13.5 million hey just be happy we got the 3.5 million the possibility of coverage and don’t complain? But I get it questioning this makes me a Trump supporter and part of the problem. Sorry but it looks like an empty political gesture.  Hopefully after the next election democrats will control all the branches of government and be free of all their obstacles and will finally be able to fast track all of the great programs they claim the republicans have been holding them back from accomplishing.

There's also Medicaid and Obamacare if you don't have employer provided insurance.

Obamacare - A Joke..  Why did healthcare Insurance companies stock shares increase when it was passed?

Obama care is not affordable contrary to the name. I mean if it was affordable wouldn’t everyone have it? There is also a huge population that make too much to be eligible for Medicare and can’t afford insurance from the marketplace.

It time for Medicare for All...  The promises given to FDR by Corporate America that they would "take care of this aspect of American life through competition" is not working. We have huge companies employing vast numbers of Americans that do not even have healthcare benefits.

Corporations no longer compete against each other for workers through enhanced benefit programs.

Not to mention the argument of stifling creativity and invention because you lock your people into jobs based on fear of losing healthcare.

You continue to try to take away my right to choose my insurance.  I chose my schools,  my cars,  my living condition,  my life insurance.  Yet you think you know better than me regarding what's right for my family. Im not trying to take away your options.  Im all for it.  Yet you know better than me.

The Democrats have pushed to close that middle class gap and extend Medicare and rebates into the program.

No, people who have employer based healthcare and are happy with it, why should they have to go to Obamacare or M4A?

Obamacare wasn’t intended to be the cure all, end all but rather a beginning. Something to be worked on, tweaked, improved over time. Instead it was actively opposed and purposely weakened by repubs and then totally gutted from 2916 onward via Team Trump Treason’s EOs, At it’s peak, 20 million more Americans had access to health insurance. So yea, a joke and clearly unaffordable. I’m still waiting for the repub attempt to get more Americans affordable health insurance.

As for red states and access to Medicaid, move or stop voting for repubs. Massachusetts was the first state to require health insurance. It has one of the largest percentages of its residents covered. It didn’t bankrupt the state. It didn’t lead to businesses shutting down, leaving the state or higher unemployment. Mitt Romney’s Massachusetts with a dem legislature and a repub governor.

Yea, COBRA, which allows you to remain on your employers healthcare at their negotiated rate. Yes, it’s still expensive and ridiculously so but the legislation just passed picks up 100% of the cost. But I guess that’s worse than nothing?

Both sides are the same and it’s all the dems fault (only Bernie could have saved us).

Team Trump Treason proposes that hair salons, bowling alleys and tattoo parlors could be places that give you a Covid test. The fucking guy is most definitely a very stable genius. That’s the level of response. I don’t know about you but I definitely want the guy who hands me my bowling shoes sticking a swab up my nose or down my throat. 4D chess right there, brilliant brilliance in all its brilliancy.

There's also Medicaid and Obamacare if you don't have employer provided insurance.
Obama care is not affordable contrary to the name. I mean if it was affordable wouldn’t everyone have it? There is also a huge population that make too much to be eligible for Medicare and can’t afford insurance from the marketplace.

Only the Dems can save themselves from themselves. And I’m not referring to ACA in the quoted post.  I’m referring to health insurance in general. If it was truly affordable wouldn’t people that didn’t have employer subsidized health care but couldn’t qualify for Medicare have it? No because it isn’t affordable.
I’m not a both sides are the same person. I’m a both sides are bad person.  Are they equally bad? Obviously not. One is much worse, but being less bad does not necessarily equal good.

The Democrats have pushed to close that middle class gap and extend Medicare and rebates into the program.
Like I said in a previous post. Hopefully the Dems sweep 2020 and control all three branches.  If they actually close those gaps I will stop looking at them like the party that panders and doesn’t act.  I already vote Dem but I’m not blindly gong to say that they are always doing the best that they can.

You sound like a zero summer. Zero sum is worse. You also don’t seem to recognize the repub role in all of this. Dems dont legislate in a vacuum. Even if Dems take control of all three branches, you won’t see immediate M4A. It’s too radical of a change. Be ready for the disappointment.

And even Democrats won't be united.  In a big tent party,  there needs to be compromises.
