Completely disagree. I don't know that voting efficiency should be an objective. And I sure don't think there should be backup congressmen and senators. Should we have a cross training initiative? Voting redundancies?
Btw, everyone has staff to support them full time, even during recess.
I totally understand that. That’s why a full month plus off does more harm than good. No one can do the job. Take a week every two months. That’s six weeks a year. Rotating schedules so people are still in Washington. Make a way for these people to vote on legislation if they are home in their district. Come on. It’s almost 2020. This isn’t 1776. Things can be easily changed to make things more efficient. It’s just the assholes that vote on it are the ones effected.
i actually think everyone being off at the same time period makes sense. as log jammed as things get, i think it would get worse with so many people in office on vacation when they are supposed to be working with their colleagues.

The dem house passed a shit ton of bills. Moscow Mitchy Baby won’t bring them to vote in the senate. Prior to that, while Obama was in office, the repub congress wouldn’t pass anything lest they make Obama look like he accomplished something. Vote anything but repub.

It is weird that it’s for such a long time. What are they, third graders? I get that they need to be in their districts and stuff. But even when they are in session it’s only a few days a week. I heard they have another week off in October.
Plus you also hear stories about a lot of them not even having town halls and stuff. Most of them use this time to raise money.
Maybe require them to work a full five day work week if they’re going to all this recess time?

They don't spend all that "recess time" at the beach. Many of them are back in their home districts working.

Clearly. I'd be interested in knowing how much time is spent fundraising verses actually working on things to benefit their constituents though.
Given the devotion that a third of the country has for him and the loss of election legitimacy, I think this guy is right. The next president not named Trump hasn't even been born yet.

the swing back from trump will be bigger than the swing to him. the only other trump that may have some chance is ivanka. there will be no trump "dynasty", however.

The GOP (in power and voters) care more about making Trump happy than they do about their country. That's frightening.

I have heard many a person from Jello Biafra to Newt Gingrich complain about status quo in government for years. So finally, here is someone doing it all differently and no one is happy with that either.
Do we go to politics as usual and suck it up or do we really want change in things?
Are we better off with Moderates running the country?

it's because he keeps hiring "all the best people" and the majority of the time it ends up in him firing them or them quitting, mainly because it seems they don't tow the trump line. it's laughable.
