No,  the solution to opposing a con man out criminal is not match him. The Democrats must retain moral high ground even if it means tactical losses.  Integrity and principles are all you really have in this world.
Integrity and principles don't matter anymore. The precedent has been set.
They don't mean anything to him or that party.  Why do you have to follow suit?
Who said I had to follow suit?

If you think this doesn't have repercussions for all future elections, candidates and office holders, and that by "playing by the rues" you'll win, whether in elections or passing/implementing policy, or avoiding corruption, I'm afraid you're sadly mistaken. I look forward to a dem POTUS asking a foreign leader to dig up dirt on a repub candidate, withholding congressional aid to said foreign leader, maybe accepting a bribe here and there, and then claiming he can't be investigated, stonewalling the congressional investigation and then pointing to Team Trump Treason while the repubs scream bloody murder. They have irrevocably harmed our democracy. Playing by the rules is for losers.
Part of the reason they’re willing to put this President above the law is that they don’t plan on their being another Democratic President.  This is about putting all the power in the hands of a smaller and narrower group of people.  And the mission is nearly accomplished.

Fair enough on your first statement. I do think it has repercussions.  But I also think Trump is a once in a lifetime scum bag.  At least I hope.
Have you seen the repub congress? Once in a life time? Team Trump Treason has opened the door for every scum bag to stick their chest out, take off their cloak and lie, cheat and steal their way to power. "The POTUS cannot be investigated." CYA Barr. Why shouldn't that now apply to everyone who runs for office? Why shouldn't I be able to rob a bank when I'm unemployed because I think its in the best interest of the American people for me not to go on welfare and a fair trial on my behalf consists of no witnesses nor any documentary evidence like finger prints or video camera coverage? Why is the POTUS above the law and I'm not? Someone should try it as a defense and see where it goes.
Im saying Trump's ability to manipulate is a rare and despicable skill.  The other Republicans don't have it.
That’s why he’s their leader GOP needed a criminal conman to show them
how to beat the system at every turn ..

A deep red state that he is in no danger of losing either way, there was zero on the line for him. If he was the deciding vote he would have caved to protect his friends and the GOP. Party over country, the republican way. If he really had a conscious he would have declared his intentions definitively on day one.

Collins is just trying to save her ass.

The last rebublican with any spine is Amash, so they gave him the boot. McCain had one but he's in the ground.

Mormons are trapped.  They hate everything about him,  but key democratic planks also are fundamentally counter to the religion.

I suspect we may see something along these lines.

I think that’s where I differ from a lot of people. The next person might not be as vulgar, but This seems to be the new normal.  Drag a third of the population along be vilifying another third...in other words galvanize the base by owning the libs... and count on apathy and fear of socialism from the rest.  That and the EC / small state-favoring Senate is all they need to hold power forever.  They’re not going to keep this going with reasonable people like Mitt and McCain.  They’re going to do it with people adept at vilifying our own countrymen/women as the enemy.  Trump is the model.

Yup. Trump's going to win.  Huge.

MoveOn.org summed up this fiasco perfectly:

"What an absolute and total disgrace."

So here we are.  Now it's time to get it together and get someone new elected later this year.

No, I take that back.  Now, tonight, as gimme so well put it, it's time to grab a beer or twelve.  Tomorrow, it's back to work looking to make the change happen in November.

Dems just need to vote.  Country would be overwhelmingly Blue if Dems, particularly young people voted.

2018 was just a taste of what happens when they vote.  The GOP is about to be voted out in droves.

Dems definitely need to come out in droves.  I do believe that will happen.  NEEDS to happen!

Provided there are free and fair elections, devoid of foreign interference. Time to bring in the UN election observers.

If the POTUS thinks it is in the public interest then it's ok though and we can all agree with that airtight logic.
