I'm kinda surprised and disappointed by that. Having GOPexiter may have bumped the credibility with the center a bit.
I wouldn’t trust him one iota. His connections and friendships didn’t dissolve upon leaving the party.
Nancy aiming squarely at the purple states and those vulnerable repub senators and house members. I like this team. Who’s Team Trump Treason got?
As someone who has followed and supported Amash vigorously for a few years, this is not the case at all. You can disagree with his positions, but what you see is what you get. He was calling for impeachment based on the Mueller report, which was way ahead of many Democrats.
i agree this was a missed opportunity. i did not like him when he was a hardcore tea partier, but i have a lot of respect for him because he came out in support of impeachment based on the evidence.
i think the dems may have not picked him because trump's defense team could go after him and say that he came out against trump because trump did not go along with some legislation he supported, or something to make it seem like he voted to impeach out of sour grapes or something. it would be too much of a distraction to the dems. i think they have a good squad here. they are looking to remove trump and i think this is the best squad they could come up with.
When it comes to libertarians, I always tell my progressive friends to focus on the issues you have in common. You don't have to vote for them if you don't like the full slate, but there are definitely areas where you can work together.
Look, I'll be thrilled to be wrong. That means he's getting removed or, at least, the trial really swung public opinion before the election. I am not encouraged thus far, though.
Did you check his voting record? Other than impeachment and foreign relations, not a whole lot of common ground, particularly around domestic policy.
Lev Parnas is spilling his guts tonight lol if this was Russia this guy would be dead!
Parnas arrested on October 9th, House subpoenas evidence on October 10th and the House just received responses to their subpoenas in the form of records, texts, documents, etc. And the repubs are hammering the process? Thank god I don’t have to listen to the fast circle talking exasperated repub from South Carolina with his false indignation and false accusations of dems loving terrorists. What a POS.
So, will Moscow Mitchy Baby allow Parnas’s evidence and/or witness testimony?
that seems strange, given how "grandma sneering at the kids laughing at thanksgiving dinner" she was when she announced the impeachment proceedings would go through.

You’re being purposefully distracted by the “somber” moment. It’s history in the making. And I know, the Daily Caller but point being, ceremonial pens have a history.
yes a lot of the major legislation that passed was signed by many many pens. i know obama gave some of them to people who instrumental in getting legislation passed. has been happening for decades.
"You can tell the greatness of a man by what makes him angry." - Lincoln
Our current president hawks all types of MAGA themed apparel and people are bothered by pens with a signature on them? Man, Trump has truly won. Everything that isn't an issue is the focus and all the issues are criticized as partisan agenda driven BS.
lol who cares about how she smiles while signing the documents and the pens , somber my ass this could of all been avoided if the idiot would of been an honest person but no he has made it his mission to cheat on everything he does ...

Exactly..who cares? It has nothing to do with what Trump did.
Lev Parnas came off much better than I ever imagined. Obviously he is under indictment but I mean he confirmed everything that the democrats argued in the house and offered up new info to make even more sense of other things that were argued.
Imagine if Pelosi handed off the articles a month ago so McConnell would've had an easier way of pushing this through without witnesses? Now he's under even more pressure to have them.

I don't think anyone actually "cares", it just gives the trumpsters credence (at least in their eyes) that she is doing this out of partisanship and some type of political revenge.

That is stupid. Those people are morons. Special pens seem to be common for stuff like this. Minor issue not worth our time, folks.

Yeah that is my only beef. Couldn't they have called him during the house hearings too? Either way, I think this delay has helped.
Actually my other beef is not naming Amash a manager.
From yesterday's NYT. Pressure on repubs to allow witnesses and documents needs to be cranked up to 12:
What happened today
On
a day full of choreographed symbolism, the House of Representatives
voted 228 to 193 to send the Senate its impeachment articles against
President Trump, formally adopting them and approving the managers
who will function as prosecutors in the trial.
Nancy
Pelosi, the House speaker, signed the articles in what’s called an
engrossment ceremony, before the seven managers, all members of the
House, walked them in a leather case across the Capitol to the
Senate in a televised procession. Upon arrival in the Senate
chamber, the House clerk announced a “message” from the House,
before announcing the vote adopting the articles.
A
Senate official then marched toward Chuck Grassley, the Senate
president pro tempore, to formally deliver the articles. Mitch
McConnell, the Senate majority leader, rose to announce a series of
resolutions that are the first steps of the trial, which officially
starts tomorrow but won’t begin in earnest until next Tuesday.
We
also learned today that the trial, which some Senate leaders have
predicted could last three to five weeks, may take on a lot of
unexpected drama. Susan Collins, a centrist Republican senator from
Maine, said today that Mr. McConnell would include language in the
Senate’s impeachment rules allowing a vote on whether to subpoena
witnesses or new documents.
Lev Parnas came off much better than I ever imagined. Obviously he is under indictment but I mean he confirmed everything that the democrats argued in the house and offered up new info to make even more sense of other things that were argued.

Actually my other beef is not naming Amash a manager.
Agree but disagree on Amash. He would have been more effective if he stayed in the party and continued to take to the floor and harangue his repub colleagues. Now he's dismissable as a sour graper and can't be trusted by dems. When has an "indie" been truly effective in a two party system? I'm thinking Bernie, Nader, there have been others, I'm sure, etc. The parties make you ineffective. Better to rebel from within (See Acosio-Cortez, Alexandrea).

I'm confused. You said parties make you ineffective, and then say it's better to be in the party and rebel from within. Confused.
A Senate trial of 3-5 weeks is very bad for Warren and Sanders. If I were cynical, one might say that Pelosi saw them being off the trail as yet another benefit of holding the articles.

Parties make "indies" ineffective. Do you think AOC would have the same amount of influence or platform if she were an "indie?"

Yeah, I don't like AOC for lots of reasons and dont' think she's particularly effective.. but let's leave that aside. So I understand your point and agree that Amash would be more effective as a Republican today.

I wondered, too. Since I like Joe and Pete, I don't mind them getting a little breathing room. The billionaires are also still free to do whatever they're doing in the campaign running anti-Trump ads that I enjoy watching (and who knows, maybe Mayor Mike's Superbowl ad will be the turning point in his campaign, lol). Anyway, I'm cool with Bernie and Liz duking it out currently, and then sequestered in DC for a while for the hearings. The in-fighting in the party isn't helpful right now.

Dimitri Firtash keeps popping up or dropping down like fruit from the poisonous tree. You have to ask yourself why he's fighting extradition from Austria to Chicago to face corruption charges by the DOJ. Particularly if the phone call was "perfect" and there was no "quid pro quo." Because we all know:
“There
was no collusion.”
“I
don’t know any Russians.”
“I
have nothing to hide.”
“I’ll
sit down and talk to anyone.”
“We
do everything by the book.”
“Only

“Very

“Fully
exonerated.”
“Essentially
no obstruction.”
“Very
friendly and totally appropriate.”
“No
quid pro quo.”

Federal agents mysteriously raided a former Trump attorney’s office:
Ed Burke represented Trump on property tax issues between 2006 and 2018.

Chicago?
Can anyone tell me what happened to Mr. Burke?
Is it one of the many many 'on-going investigations' spun off from Mueller?
