This isn't a fun game. North Korea has been tossing test missiles around for years. Nobody does anything about it. Towards Japan towards South Korea, What should we do about Kim Jun un? To be clear on what's sickening, it's the attitude you share with so many Americans that values the appearance of American strength over the lives of innocent children. It's fucking disgusting and it is so prominent that I am ashamed to share a nationality with such people.
Rgambs, I find people talk about pride and shame on a national level, when they shouldn't. I'm not proud to be a Canadian. I didn't earn the right being born to a Canadian. If I elevate Canada throughout my lifetime by changing it in a tangible or meaningful, public way, then I will have the right to be proud. Similarly, shame for your country should be reserved for when you could have made a positive change but elected not to. You are on here engaging meaningfully to try to teach your perception of the right way and choices in life, and learn from others about theirs. I think you should be proud of that.
It's different for you Canadians though, you don't take your nationalism nearly as serious as we do. You don't get lumped in with such a bad crowd, and you don't have to worry about your reputation as a Canadian around the world like we do.
People make assumptions about Americans around the world.
As a light-hearted example, an Italian told me that any truly fat person he sees in Milano he automatically assumes they are American.
He's probably rarely wrong lol

I heard they conspired with Russia to develop a voters package for Trump supporters: two free passes to the buffet for a Trump vote. According to real credible sources, the free passes were only valid from Monday to Friday, but Russia made them make the passes valid any day of the week.

Hillary's death blow was that she was a terrible candidate, people don't trust her. She didn't make an effort in critical key battle ground states. She didn't stop in Wisconsin once, Michigan towards the end when her people told her Michigan was slipping away!! Both states that has gone blue since Regan, but always considered a swing states. She called half the country irredeemable.(All the election anallists know that this was a huge mistake). Many people at the time sitting on the fence called diplorable? Many of those people said screw you then. They mad t-shirts and hats out of that. PROUD TO BE IN HILLARY'S BASKET OF DIPLORABLES I have one. And many many voters were very against the socialist path we were on.

To answer your question, though, I'm not proud nor shameful. As I said above, I reserve pride and shame for realities which I've impacted. I am not an owner or meaningful participant in making Canada into what it is at this point in my life, so I'm indifferent from that perspective about being Canadian. I do feel incredibly lucky to be born into a middle-class Canadian household, though.

I have made this same statement, albeit less eloquently (as usual, Benjs), in the past. I don't get "patriotism" or "national pride", and people release the hounds on me for saying I have zero of each. i had zero to do with the creation of this country, so what the fuck am I to be proud about? it's the same as buying a house vs building a house. Am I happy I live there? Yes, but I bought it, I didn't build it, so there's nothing for me to be proud of.

I am extremely grateful to live in canada, but I'm not proud of it. I don't sing the national anthem for a reason.
