Pretty much every album The Church/Steve Kilbey has put out.

    ^^^^ This.

True story: I actually took a vacation to Australia, decades ago, to track down Church rarities. Obsessed fan since 1983. :-D

Saw the You Am I gig last week! What a great rock n roll show, wow! Was it loud! Had my ears ringing for a couple of days after the show. Great set full of their classics. So glad I saw them. Will certainly see them again. Need to get out and buy some their stuff I don’t have yet.
A great starting point for those interested are Hi Fi Way, Hourly Daily and No. 4 Record. Albums 2-4.

You am I are certainly one of the GREAT Oz bands of the last 20 or so years. Hourly Daily is in my Top 10 albums of All Time, just pure brilliance. I haven't seen them live for a while now, but must get around to catching them again, as they are fantastic.

I don't think they get anywhere near the recognition that they deserve as a true Rock n Roll band that has been doing what they do at a very high standard for such a long time.
Interested to know what it is about Hourly Daily that makes it top ten for you? I agree it’s a great album!!

When Hourly Daily was released in 96, it hit me straight away. The release of Sound as Ever, sort of passed me by I was was listening to a lot of heavier stuff in the late 80's and early 90's, but did pick up on You am I with Hi Fi Way, which I really liked and then revisited Sound as Ever.
I was eagerly awaiting the release of Hourly Daily and watched a lot of interviews and read articles on the band and Tim. When it came out, it was a bit of a change in direction for them from the guitar driven first 2 albums, this was much more melodic and I liked the change. The sound reminded me of 60's style music, but with Australian story telling. Tuesdays blew me away an I loved the title song. To this day, it's my favourite Oz album (although Gang of Youths is knocking on the door). It just has a really good flow and I really immersed myself in it when it came out. I lived in the UK about 18 months after it came out and I played that album to everyone I socialised with over there. It was my go to album when missing Oz.

I know that a lot of You am I fans love the first 2 albums the most, but this one does it for me. Such a great first 3 albums in a career (#4 Record was good too), arguably the best first 3 albums in any Oz artists recent history (Powderfinger would be in there if it wasn't for Parables).

Nice, thanks for sharing, always cool to hear what other people think of music that you love too. Was listening to it in the car after work today! Been playing a fair bit of You Am I after seeing a recent show of theirs. Also been playing their live record too! So good!

No worries. What live album are you listening too? Is it ...Saturday Night, 'Round 10 or their more recent one? I have not listened to their first one in a LONG time, at least 15 years, as when it came out, i remember being a little underwhelmed by it. I must dust it off and give it another spin

First time I heard it I was like “did he just say ‘tryna be a better man ask Eddie Vedder man’ ” so I looked up the lyrics and sure enough!

Also Kurt & Courtney references in Sell It All, Run Away.

Gotta say Exit Sign is probably my early favorite on the album. I knew he was on the track but as soon as I heard the first couple notes I was like this totally feels like an Illy beat. Wonder if he actually helped write the song or just did the guest vocals.

Saw Tired Lion again on Friday night at the Crowbar in Brisbane. They are fats becoming my favourite Oz band live. They put everything into their shows and have a great interaction with crowd. Sophie does not hold back on vocals at all, I'm surprised she still has a voice at the end of the night.
2 of the boys from Violent Soho were there (Sophie is with lead singer of Violent Soho and he's produced their latest single). Unfortunately they didn't get up onstage with them, as a cover of Covered in Chrome would have bought the house down!

It's been an 'Hourly, Daily' morning for me again today. It's just one of those records that gives you exactly what you need every time you play it.

I listened to Dilettantes (the song) earlier too. It's right up there with my favourite Tim Rogers songs, lyrically and vocally.

"I could never see you in the light
What chance have I got finding you in shadows?"
    “Do not postpone happiness”
    (Jeff Tweedy, Sydney 2007)

“Put yer good money on the sunrise”
    (Tim Rogers)

I never had the chance to check out Diorama-something I must do.

Let There Be Rock is my favourite Oz album. The Living End's first one too. Know this is sacrilege as a Kiwi but Woodface can qualify as despite us claiming Neil as he is one of us Crowded House formed in Oz and Neil was the minority numbers wise I'd see them as ANZAC (a Kiwi is the songwriter after all).

Saw Jet open for Green Day in Brisbane-they were great and made me enjoy Get Born a lot more.

A few I'm forgetting I'm sure-need to browse more Hottest 100s to jog my memory!
