BTW, if you know anything about Broadway plays, The cast routinely does speeches at the end of the show, anything from happy birthday to a cast member to political speeches to giving to various charities.
Any idea average cost for 2 for broadway show? What are Hamilton ticket prices? Just curious.

I saw it. Just because someone can do something it doesn't mean they always should. Like I said...it's the cast's right but it's self defeating and it makes them look small.

I don't know this, but it's far from cheap.
Also, big names are usually comped tickets to go to shows in exchange for good reviews. Penses ticket was most likely free.

Some of the best and most relevant art involves social and political commentary.
And interesting that Van Zandt would be against political statements in art, given his own performance history, both with Springsteen, no slouch at political commentary, and his own solo career with its anti-Reagan and anti-apartheid songs. Guess he lost his fire as he got older.
Great point, being a part of Springsteen's band and all.

Like I said...again...they have the right to do it but it makes them look small and it's self defeating. It does no damage to Pence in any way no matter what you think of him. If anything some people like Van Zandt who don't support him will actually become sympathetic.

The only one who looks small in this situation is Trump, to absolutely no ones surprise. The need to tweet about it and ask for a "safe place".
What a tool.
Or he brilliantly got people talking about this rather then his Trump U settlement.
It seems we have a different idea of what brilliant means.
Well it is interesting that the Trump U story ended and now all anybody is talking about is Hamilton. Trump lose on the university but wins on Hamilton. The cast inadvertently ruined the news cycle.

Nobody that voted for Trump cares about the university story. Those people are just to damned ignorant to care. I really don't know what he could do to lose their support at this point.
His whole campaign was starting one dumpster fire after another. That wasn't brilliance. He is not going to stop that pattern now that he's been elected.

The settlement is no longer in the mainstream liberal media anymore because they can't find a way to spin it that President-elect Trump is a racist, misogynist, xeno, etc. The Pence story is in the media because a President-elect has openly called out for an apology. Is this a first time?

Pence supports conversion therapy for gays, which is destructive.
I would have booed him in a heartbeat. He hates gays. Why did he go to the theatre? I have zero respect for him - plus he scares me to death.
The Hamilton boycott is as stupid as boycotting Starbucks by buying their product and putting "Trump" on the cup. Hamilton is sold out until next fall, I think.
And I might have read the current tickets are about $700 each on StubHub. (And it is an AMAZING show, btw.) There's a great line in it where Lafayette and Hamilton say, "Immigrants, we get the job done." It gets huge applause and apparently the applause has been growing and growing and growing - I'm sure with Pence in the audience people were cheering at that line last night.

Yes I am serious and would like to hear GoBeavers response.
Most people cheering the Hamilton cast never knew who Mike Pence was 365 days ago, including the cast. Hilarious.
Why is that hilarious, other than the fact that you're looking for something to be snarky about. Is there a minimum amount of time you need to have heard of someone before you can disagree with them?

It's funny that the right is against free speech when it's even mildly critical of their position.
You know the shock therapy accusation is bullshit right? Please tell me you do?

Interesting that there is no "straight conversion therapy".
My god, when will it dawn upon people to just let others live their lives in peace?
Who/what determines straight?

And the person, him/herself.
Who/what else would determine that, anyway?
