I did see several comments as I skimmed through the hundreds of posts that were an overreaction indicating this is the beginning of the end for US. To be clear, I wasn't quoting you or anyone specifically, just generalizing what I've seen and heard. And I don't necessarily agree with all of my examples either, just pointing out the reactions I see. When the bathroom bill was a big topic anyone who supported it in any form received a slew of insults that included sexists remarks to racial and religious slurs and somehow thought that proved their point. Some who supported the ban did so in a very idiotic way, but almost all seemed to have fears unrelated to transgendered, but they received the same insults. Instead, they should be asking the question "how can we reduce those fears you have and still allow people to use the correct bathroom for them?" I'm not a law maker, but I am convinced if people worked together there is an answer to satisfy both parties. Just out of curiosity a while ago I Googled some cases, and within 2-3 minutes I found a dozen cases where a bathroom law was used as a defense for someone spying in a public bathroom, most of which only got caught because the person was actually dumb enough to bust out a phone and take pictures. Ignoring those fears and throwing insults only creates a larger divide. It would be interesting to me to hear how people feel fear or naming calling is used on both parties, because I know it exists on both sides. If someone is pro-choice, don't call them sexists simply because they don't agree with you, talk to them about why you believe it is important to be able to decide and the consequences if you take that away. if you're pro-life, don't call someone a murderer and throw a picture of an aborted fetus in their face, talk to them about why all life is precious. And neither will probably change the other's mind, but at least there can be an understanding of the other view instead of spreading the hate and increasing the divide. The result is both parties get farther away from each other, the left goes farther left and the right more right. End result is Clinton vs. Trump and no one is happy.
I don't need to google Trump's remarks on Mexicans, the media played it a thousand times. It was poorly worded and can see how it could be interpreted that way. I see it and think this was when Kate's Law was a big topic, he was angry that someone who was deported multiple times was allowed to come back and kill an innocent girl, and then the pushback to deport violent criminals that followed. He chose his words poorly, but I don't think he meant "all" when he said those things. He didn't say they "only" send rapists etc., and he's since clarified his remarks.

I have actually said this before in defence of Trump, that I think he is a terrible public speaker, in that he just speaks whatever comes to his mind without proper preparation, and it often comes out as if he is talking to guys around a poker table with zero consequence or offence. he needs to be more careful about the words he uses. But again, I think that was partly what people found appealing about him. He seemed like "a real guy", not just some politician that rambles on and on without really saying anything.
Middle-Eastern college student admits making up an attack/robbery story that went nationwide. What exactly did this kid think she would accomplish? Just more hate and fear
A University of Louisiana student admitted Thursday to making up a story about being attacked by two men, one reportedly wearing a "Trump" hat, who yelled ethnic slurs at her and then stole her wallet and hijab head covering, according to Lafayette Police.
The woman, identified only as an 18-year-old of Middle Eastern descent, had initially told police the attack happened about 11 a.m. Wednesday on Smith Street near campus — a story quickly picked up by the national news outlets, sparking a social media firestorm.
ULL Officer Ratcliff said the woman might now face charges herself related to filing a false police report.
"We don't take this lightly, and it's made national headlines now," he said. "...There will be consequences."
