The Wii is far from being a bust. Totally changed modern day gaming with the controller. Look at how quickly Microsoft and Sony jumped on board with that concept after the Wii was released.Star Lake 00 / Pittsburgh 03 / State College 03 / Bristow 03 / Cleveland 06 / Camden II 06 / DC 08 / Pittsburgh 13 / Baltimore 13 / Charlottesville 13 / Cincinnati 14 / St. Paul 14 / Hampton 16 / Wrigley I 16 / Wrigley II 16 / Baltimore 20 / Camden 22 / Baltimore 24 / Raleigh I 25 / Raleigh II 25 / Pittsburgh I 250

Nintendo, even if it struggles, can always rely on its past to make money, in one way or the other. They are the nostalgic staple of many current gamers, and that is big business, even if they dont have the most impressive console specs/gaming library on the market. And so you see, I have come to doubt

Exactly. I never owned a Wii, but pretty much everyone else I know had one. It was great for the casual gamer and from kids to older adults.HesCalledDyer said:The Wii is far from being a bust. It was tremendously successful. Though, with that said, it was also probably the system that collected the most dust after it's first year or two.0 -

How was the Wii a bust? It sold more than the PS3 and the Xbox...SVRDhand13 said:Are we going to be able to add games through downloads?
Man Nintendo has struck gold with Pokemon and now I think they'll continue to release systems and make a fortune. Good for them considering wii and wii U can be considered busts.

It wasn't a bust but I don't think it changed modern gaming. There was motion detection beforehand and the future belongs to virtual reality.HesCalledDyer said:The Wii is far from being a bust. Most things exist beforehand. Nintendo made motion controls explode, as seen by it's success. It was also a console people bought games for, more games on avarage than for the 360 or PS3.SVRDhand13 said:

So it was ofc one of the biggest successes in gaming history.
The problem though was that they attracted a lot of new consumers that didn't stick around in their eco system and they also devaluated the brand for hardcore gamers. As evident by the uphill battle they have now. Compared to Sony who had problem with the PS3 but still had a strong brand and a loyal fanbase who wanted to stick around for the PS4.
But hopefully NX (releasing in March 2017) will be a huge success for them and earn gamers and third party developers respect.Post edited by Spiritual_Chaos on"Mostly I think that people react sensitively because they know you’ve got a point"0 -
Haha. Big deal. Just a reskin. Understand Nintendo didn't want to keep around an asshole rapist.dankind said:

Nintendo neglected it during the last years of its life. But it has like 9 games sold per console on average, so people bought and played games on it. Not just Wii Sports.mca47 said:

But for a lot of Wii Sports/ Wii Fit soccer moms I bet it got thrown into a closet after a year."Mostly I think that people react sensitively because they know you’ve got a point"0 -

Look at the top 10 selling games of 2015. All use a standard controller. The future will include virtual reality aspects and location detection like Pokemon Go.severed hand thirteen2006: Gorge 7/23 2008: Hartford 6/27 Beacon 7/1 2009: Spectrum 10/30-31

My nephew still plays Wii. (I refuse to buy him a PS4 or X Box because I know he will zone out and only want to do that 24 hrs per day. (Like most kids))

It took me almost 2 years to find a Wii on sale. Bowling kicked ass. But the hardware limitations led to a lot of shitty games aimed towards kids. And I could never figure out why in the hell they didn't have a HD output!Be Excellent To Each OtherParty On, Dudes!0

Does it come with a matchbook to jam above the cartridge to make the game work properly?
I also wonder if you fall behind by too much in a game can you stomp on the floor and cause it to re-set?The love he receives is the love that is saved0 -
Any Nobunaga's Ambition fans out there? The worst of times..they don't phase me,

Cool, but I still love the Wii & the game store. So many classic games across different consoles. They need to focus on making their next mawww.cluthelee.com0

For years, Nintendo has been trying to recreate the insane success of the NES, when video games weren't 'video games,' they were 'playing Nintendo.'"
