Texas has open carry laws. So seeing people in a situation like this or just out and about carrying a rifle over their shoulder is very normal. For Texas.
Not yet. Even in Texas, I have yet to see anyone carrying openly. People with permits tend to prefer to keep their guns concealed. The assholes who have to show off their rifles are still rare and mostly show up at, you guessed it, protests so that they can be seen "exercising their second amendment rights."
And not every Texan is happy with open carry, believe me. Our wacko legislature and governor seem to inhabit a different universe, passing laws that have little to do with the average person's life and well-being.

Yes, and one was shot. Who ever did this could care less if any protesters were shot or not. Seems like they had an agenda and nothing was getting in their way. But, the principle targets were the cops.

The killers can blend in and be within striking distance of their victims and be heavily armed legally due to the open carry laws. Cops were outgunned due to lax ownership rules.
This whole story is just coming to me now and I still haven't heard or seen it all. This is absolutely the very worst scenario that could have happened between police and citizens they protect. Only in America nothing will change between the two.....I feel sadness for the police and their families.

How absolutely fucked up terrible it is that these officers had to get killed before (or maybe even...) some laws about what types of guns are legal and where and when a person can carry certain weapons. We're not even talking all out gun ban here. We haven't even reached the first stage of common sense in some parts. Ridiculously bad shit.
Surely you jest. Any outcry for gun reform will be quickly swept under the rug as it always is and there will probably be a surge in gun sales in Texas today. Get 'em while you can. Tens of thousands of Americans die due to gun violence every year yet your government stays silent. Why would anything change today?

You can't tell someone how or what to believe. Period. And carrying a gun does not make you a whack Job.. It makes us citizens prepared to defend our lives, ( or as I train for ) the lives of those around them, or their property and home. When those that carry misuse that freedom they blame all of us. THAT is whack. Until two years ago, I carried everywhere. I have an open AND concealed carry permit. But now with the nuerapathy, I keep the pistol jn my car, or I just don't carry at all. ( I still train for my carries because muscle Memory is key to reaction). It boils down to this: Freedoms and free will can be a toxic combination. The GUN didn't kill anyone. The gun fired a bullet. As it was designed and intended to do. The PERSON HOLDING said weapon killed people. Period.
I watched CNN up until about 3 in the morning eastern, and several commentators called it terrorism. Former law enforcement, civil rights activists -- none of them hesitated to call it that.
