The DC 'reaper' poster comes to mind. People went ape over that If memory serves.

    Yeah, that one and Dusseldorf.
I guess everyone has their 'favorites' and everyone has their "grail(s)". I don't think they are mutually exclusive. Grails tend to get more 'airtime' and the prices get inflated because they are scarce and hunting is necessary. I haven't seen my personal grail even available any place in years.

Kong is a common grail, but I don't think it is a lot of people's favorite print/piece of art work.

My favorite print, and what I consider the best artwork from 2016 is Bioworkz MSG I... also like the Blue Jays Mark 5. Those should be fairly steady, but the prints that will be a lot of ISOs over the years will be Lexington and the EMEK Dead Animals.

I have a Kong S/N. Plan on framing it to put it near the 'gaming' area of my soon to be finished basement. Wouldnt put it anywhere in actual living space in my house.... on the other hand, I have the Bioworkz at the framers now and it will be displayed in my living room.

I guess a big question is: what happens to the value of this stuff, in say 30 years... well after the band is finished and rock fans are kind of dying off?

I'd have to say that I'm the most desirable POSTer on this thread

Posters from the 1990's and 2000 will always be at the top of my list. Give me a St. Louis '98, Chicago/East Troy '98, Chicago '00, etc. every day. The posters from this era remind me of the flyers that bands trying to make it in the industry would slap on the windows of local bars, electrical poles, etc....draw some buzz for their local shows..... Simple artwork done with old-school screen printing. To me the posters post-2003 seem to be more "flashy" or "artsy" for lack of a better term. I prefer the simplicity of the older posters over the flash of the more recent posters. But that's just me. The more recent posters definitely have their place and there are quite a few I do enjoy.

That's by far my most desirable, and not because it's valuable. At least, it's been my most desirable since I bought the Cincy '03 one. My old holy grail, until I found it:
    image

I will finally be taking it to be framed in the next couple weeks! :)
(and now that I see that SG/PJ one next to the Cincy '03, I'm thinking they would look SO GOOD on the walls in the same room. I guess I like those colours, lol .... Sigh. Never going to happen. I would never spend that much on a poster)
Always wanted this. It would look great beside my turntable
For sure. That is where mine's going to go. :)

I've never understood what's so great about this poster either. Lots of hype over something that to me is too busy and pretty ugly. But hey, to each his own!

Koziks pornstar Green/Pink lady are def up there, but his High Bear Neil Young poster is at the top of the list for me.

I recall Klausens '05 Easy Street poster being huge too.

I'd love a fake High Bear for my garage.

Many pearl jam fans are the same age of people who remember donkey kong fondly. Add that to an MSG show that closed an amazing tour, in Madison square garden, with one of the best sets ever and you're golden.

I've thought of that too. I personally think they will still have some value, especially since the music will live on long after the band is done making music and touring. Think of all of us who never saw the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix or Led Zeppelin or Pink Floyd, yet we still listen to their music and I'd assume their gig posters are valuable (although I don't have personal knowledge).

I'd say Budapest, Rome, and Istanbul are the most desirable IMO ... and/or the Chicago 2000 Blackie

    To each there own.

No love for the Merriweather 96?

Agreed. When I look back at the earlier posters, there are so very many that, had I gone to the shows, I would have no problem framing and displaying in my house. Nowadays, there is about one poster per tour that I even find remotely attractive, if that. There are definitely some that I view as great art, but just don't translate well as a gig poster to me.

I just wish more had to do with the specific city AND were beautiful pieces of art work all at once. Like Pitt '13, its on my wall and its still my grail. Love that thing.
