That's my holy grail of holy grails. One just sold on ebay for $2950. It was pristine, low numbered, has the stamp most don't, etc. I've seen the same first edition, without stamp, maybe not pristine go for $500 -$1500.
I think the Kong (like most recent Ames posters) is overrated. They are like the Nickleback of poster producers (i.e., lets pick Transformers or Donkey Kong and the masses will go for it). They've figured out that all they need to do is put band members on the posters to sell it (Kentucky Six, Trieste 2014, Transformers NYC 2015, Mexico City 2015) and then make three variants of it. The masses love it but give me something actually creative by Sperry, EMEK, or Munk One any day.
These are my sentiments as well. I would add that I prefer a skull or skulls not be the focal point of the art, and that art is location inspired. I was at the two MSG shows in 2010. The Soto print was available in the main atrium an hour before the show..... the Donkey Kong was gone the next night. I would likely have purchased the second night print if it had been available, but I don't line up for hours for concert merchandise or pay exorbitant sums of money for $35 artwork
I think its more than $35 artwork. Well, some. Honestly I think we are lucky they are sold for only $35.

I have quite a few prints - but I am going to say Sperry's 2016 Miami is the newest stone-cold classic. Every time I look at it something new appears. Kong is a beast of a print too. All of the 96-98 prints are sprinkled with pixie dust
Weird, showed up for me, now it's not. It's from expressobeans, and they have been having site issues for what seem like months now. Try refreshing, showing up again for me.
Expressobeans has been awful. Almost unusable which is a shame.
i've found that all of EB works, except going to my own collection (which is the main reason most of us visit the site), but i can still go to my prints via the search engine. word on the forums there is that the site outgrew its servers. from what i read, it looks like a matter of time before the site is back to full functionality. really cool place, considering its and entirely free service.

Search engine doesn't work for me. I can't view my collection, but apparently someone can as I got a PM yesterday about one of my posters.

I'd agree with you too.... many of the prints could be sold for more at the original point of purchase...... I imagine that in the grand scheme - depending on the size of the print run - the artists make a nice profit and justifiably so.

From what I've heard on the boards the artists get nothing from PJ to design the posters, the artists make their money with the APs. I guess they also allow some artists, particularly Ames, to make several variants and they get to profit off of that. I've said it before on this post I don't like the idea of variants but if it makes money for the artists to keep making these great posters it's fine.
The pj20 mural is unique that we all watched them create the billboard that last day... then the posters were sold on a very limited drop
Same as Wrigley
Only 200 in the world!
Less of these though....
Theres more of those out there than you would think.
If there are, EMEK must have them all. Kongs and Wrigleys come up for sale all the time - these don't.
EMEK just sold another one to a fan. He still sells them.
Yea, for $2-3k. If he had 200+, I doubt he'd be charging that much. I'd say there's 20-30 total out there not torn up, aside for the H/C and uncut editions.

Exactly the same for me. I can view everything on the site except for the 4 links on 'My Page.'

The number in member's collections on EB usually give a good idea of how many are out there (typically 2-3x more than the # in people's collections for regular show prints, about 1.5-2x for A/Ps, variants, etc.). Last time I was able to access EB, which seems like months ago, there were only 10 in collections hence my estimate of 20-30. EMEK probably has 10 or less.

I know of about 20 out there. People don't want to come forward with this print for some reason.
Still very rare. You don't see the Unnatural Resources print that was done 3 years earlier anymore either.
It's safe to say that only true collectors have this... I'm still searching...

I don't see the draw of the print other than EMEK and being rare. The artwork doesn't do much for me.

Agreed. For instance, the poster EMEK just did for Philly is an instant classic but since it's so new it won't get the critcs love

Very true, I'd also add the BIOWORKZ MSG 1, it will be sought after down the road as well, and not getting the love it deserves, at this time. The Miami Sperry will be a real "hot" one because of the PJ fans and all the Sperry collectors out there.

I get that art is subjective and all but to me, that Philly poster is a total fail. Don't like it on any level.

I think the Ames & Klausen show posters beat the billboard any day. I mean, what a weird fucking poster! An octopus, a green bear with antlers? Honestly, if it weren't so rare, would it be THAT popular? I don't think so.

Personally I'm not a big fan of the doom and gloom subject matter like the skulls etc. I understand their place though as this is a rock band's posters. I like the cartoonish stuff because I wanna be able to hang it anywhere. Like this great piece which I have:
Too cool!
Oh please let it rain today.
Those that can be trusted can change their mind.
In a space where everyone will have different tastes with regard to style and coloring, Kong has a lot going for it: Recognizable subject matter that everyone can relate to, nice colouring, old enough to have been unavailable for quite a while, New York show at MSG - these things all keep it pretty top of mind. You don't even have to be a Pearl Jam fan or know anything about the world of poster collecting to say "wow, that's nice". (Many fans may not like the style, but what I'm saying is, even my dad could pick it out of a crowd as a well done, memorable poster).
In short, it's the kind of poster that even if you weren't there, might be desirable and even get hung. Perhaps more universally appealing than say Greenville or Charlotte that will have it's fans beyond those that were in attendance but have trouble breaking through to that next level of wider audiences.
Transformers has a bit of that going for it for sure, as well. Not sure if the availability of variants for that one will cause it to be more or less valuable over time (they are more limited yes but they also mean that hundreds more made it into the market than a non-variant enabled print).

I like it because it was made throughout the fest on the billboard. So the image brings back great memories.

I think the whole disaster with the gold variant by Ames soured people on the transformers poster.

I get that. I have a a regular AP and I love it. But I can see how people got fed up. I personally think they should have cancelled all the excess orders and let the gold print stay limited as intended.

I trust it was a mistake..... it looked shady with the "handful" but they offered refunds. Every time I've had an issue of any sorts they've been great so I'm giving them the benifit of the doubt. Anyone should get it once.......
