I have some great news! We just found out we are having our 3rd child! The due date is around the middle of April. This is great news for everyone as this confirms a west coast tour mid spring 2018 since we won't be able to make it!

Band takes rest of the year off. Goes into studio in 2018. Releases album mid 2019. Tours Europe in 2020 and band plays summer but most likely fall 2020 US dates to coincide with the election.

People who think we're getting an album in 2018 are staying positive, but realistically, I don't believe it will happen. The band hasn't even hinted at material and they haven't been in a rush to release anything for fifteen years.
Respectfully disagree.  This band doesnt hint at anything. This is band but also an organization that relies on touring to bring in the dough.  Merch is good easy money but I would still guess touring supports alot of the operation.  My guess is they have so much material from last few years they could release a new album and a new lost dogs.  New music and dates still makes sense for 2018.  We will see.

My guess is the band spends just about as much time on recording as it needs to in order to get enough material for an album.  When they want to release an album they'll put the 3-4 weeks into it and knock it out.  I wouldn't be surprised if one song hasn't been created since Lightning Bolt was completed.

It's not impossible, but unlikely.   It takes time and resources to plan out dates.  They need to put holds on venues, coordinate a touring schedule etc...   Venues are probably held months before the tour officially gets announced.  This is why leaks usually come out (from people who work for the venues).    There has been nothing.  Usually they announce a tour several months in advance.  If there was a December tour, it would probably need to be announced right around now.  This would mean someone would of leaked it by now :(     The window for a show by the end of 2017 is 4 months and change.   I wouldn't call that an impossible window, but the window is almost closed :(

I agree in principal, but I believe that there's some plans for the site of JLA right now.  Illitch Holdings isn't going to halt demo for a concert in my opinion.

But, hypotheticaly speaking, if they were playing one venue in a stand alone one off kind of way such as a single show like Missoula 2012 or a milti show run like Spectrum 2009... then they could easily keep it hush... and could likely sell it out in minutes, easily... with little to no heads up necessary

    Hypotheticaly speaking of course :)
  • I'm really torn here. I don't see them doing a huge 2018 unless they're supporting an album, and I don't think they are releasing a new album anytime soon. Hopefully with the release of Let's Play Two that means they will. I can see PJ pulling a Radiohead 2016 and just play 2 east coast shows and 2 west coast shows in the states.....IMAGINE
What I'm hoping for, and think is reasonable especially with Dimitri's hints:
    - December 2017 - The band plays 2 Seattle shows around the holidays to try out new material and also remember Chris
    - Feb/Mar 2018 - Central and South America
    - April/May 2018 - Album is released in the middle of a 4 week West Coast Tour
    - July 2018 - Europe
    - September 2018 - East Coast and South Tour
    - November 2018 - Australia (maybe Asia?!)

come on guys we need at least one show this year!  don't break your show streak going all the way back to 1990.
    play an eight night tour:
    2x seattle
    2x chicago
    2x houston
    2x nyc
I'll ride the wave where it takes me......

I can second that, planning a trip to NY around November/December but holding off in hope for a date to announced!

Three songs Isn't a show. When Pearl Jam plays less than 30 songs in a night we all cry and complain lol.
