I know it was seven years ago but the 2010 cleveland show didn't sell particularly well; could Pearl Jam really sell out a place like progressive field?
Absolutely they could, especially if their schedule is otherwise light this year. Cleveland isn't a bad drive from either Chicago all the way to the Atlantic coast.

I would tend to agree with you, but St. Louis didn't sell well in 2010 either, but the place was full in 2014. I think PJ could sell well pretty much anywhere these days (I wouldn't have said that in 2012 though).
Maybe Ed like the vibe when he was there for the World Series . . . . would think there would have been more buzz around this on these boards if it was gonna happen, but we can hold out hope.

Good point but it was the same venue. It s not like they went from Scott trade to Busch stadium.

It is awfully quiet right now. West coast USA will get some shows. Maybe a couple festivals in the US. I thought Europe might be in the cards but not anymore.
For 2017 budget my PJ travel dollars are being allocated to golf which I don't mind.
Why no more Europe?
Just my own gut feeling as would have expected some announcements by now about a summer tour. I don't know what festivals are still outstanding though. I only get my info from this board and it seems pretty quiet on 2017 rumors, but there isn't as much traffic here as there used to be. I know one poster was pretty adamant there would be a European tour.
Thats not necessarily true. They didn't announce the 2016 tour until 1-25-16, granted there was a lot more buzz here on the threads. I agree with @mfc2006 said earlier. Hard too plan a spring tour, not knowing if you are being inducted into RRHOF or not. Thats all settled, so they can book dates now.

PJ could definitely sell Progressive field if it was a one off show at the Stadium. Cleveland is one of the few markets that wasn't hit on the Lightning Bolt tour. This could end up being their "Hall of fame" destination show.

Lots of major Northeast cities within driving distance of Cleveland...Detroit, Pittsburgh, Chicago, Buffalo, Toronto, etc. As stated, it would probably have to be a "one-off" show, however.
I doubt the Progressive Field show would be U2.....they dont usually announce one off shows. (as far as I can remember). They would likely announce a full tour.
PJ is more the one-ff show type to announce this. That said...it could be a LOT of people/bands.
But that said...Cleveland has the RRHOF....PJ just got in the RRHOF. Of everyone that was just inducted, only PK could fill up a stadium like that, I think.
Maybe Vedder liked what he saw at Progressive during the World Series... one can wish

Hope so. Could just mean a big year for them, not necessarily tour . . . . Wrigley Whatever it is going to be release, RRHOF, New Album perhaps. That would be a big year for them. I am all for a tour, holding out hopes for a spring Southwest/West Coast run, but trying to temper my expectations.

I'm not an industry expert by any means, but I would be surprised if they DIDN'T plan a significant tour to promote a new album. That's usually the M.O.
You talking about the dude with the hat? I was thinking the same thing. It would be a good thing. Save me some money this year if they don't tour the States. lol

I was speaking more about Europe versus a US tour. I would think we would have heard about a Euro summer tour by now but I would love to be wrong.
