i just want the damn eagles of death metal poster. and the shark too since i was still passed out drunk when santos decided to surprise us back in april.
quick question for you my friend... why would you want to frame and hang a poster on your wall from a show you didnt go to? help me understand.
People aren't drawn to the posters because of the value... The posters become more valued because the people like and desire the look and art of the poster which creates the demand, which in turn drives the value up...
I buy posters I like even if I've never heard the bands' music (Emek Decemberists) I buy a poster if I like the band but didn't go to the specific show but like the poster(Wolfmother-Slater-Tidwell-Malleus, QOTSA-Hampton Vegas) I buy a poster when I go to the show and like the poster (Pearl Jam-Hartford) Or, I don't buy a poster if I go to the show and hate the look of the poster (PJ-Boston-2 06) Or I buy a poster just cuz it's so damn cute:http://www.expressobeans.com/public/detail.php/56376 LOL
Pretty simple really... I hang posters on the wall at home for shows I haven't been to because they are beautiful pieces of art (Klausen Gorge 05)(Emek-Death Cab For Cutie)

just to clarify...i wasnt saying you were going to profit from them. it is just the fact that everyone wants the same exact posters. we all cant have the same taste and all think the same posters are cool. it is the value that is drawing the inetrest...
i personaly dont like the copenhagen... some guy with a hammer? but some like it, or love it.
i saw the albany 06 at the show and walked right past it because i didnt like it.
quick question for you my friend... why would you want to frame and hang a poster on your wall from a show you didnt go to? help me understand.
As I said in my last post, its the art. But then its also pearl jam. I love pearl jam. Their music is coloring my life in so many ways.
I also love art, and when I stumble across good art associated with pj, I want it. And It doesnt have to be expensive concert posters. I have framed promo posters as well, posters that I have picked up for 5 dollars or less.
While doing a 100 dollar framing job for a 5 dollar poster sounds insane to you, it doesnt to me. To me it has great value. Why? Because it looks frickin fantastic on the wall in my mountian lodge!
It's turning into a hobby. And off course, with every hobby that involves collecting, you will always want whats hardest to come by. Its human nature!

First off, what does it matter if you go to the show or not? I have been to many shows that have posters I wouldn't ever think of hanging on my walls. I went to Dallas '03 (ugly purple/pink skull poster), I have the poster but highly doubt it will ever see the light of day, at least not on my wall. I didn't go to the West Palm Beach '03 show, but loved the image, so I bought the poster and paid the money to have it properly framed and then put it on my wall. I also did this with countless others, Melbourne '03, Borgatta Pink, just to name a few, that I didn't go to. I buy posters based on artwork, and now after framing 10 and having over 15 still in tubes that probably won't be hung, I only buy prints that I know I will frame and hang on my wall.
That being said, I really hope I am fortunate enough to score a Klausen Showbox '04, LA '06, Duseldorf '06, and Hawaii U2/PJ. I could care less about what they go for on eBay or the secondary market, I like how they look and want to put them on my wall. I didn't go to any of these shows, nor do I care. I just like the artwork and hope to be able to display them for me and my guests to see. I like to think that a majority of the demand for these posters is based on the quality of the artwork. I realize this is a very optimistic and naive way to look at this, but it is how I see it. All the posters I am in search of happen to be expensive in the secondary market. I really want them, and would want them equally as badly if they weren't "worth" a lot. I actually wish they weren't "worth" a lot because then I would have already bought them and framed them.
End of rant. Grow up. I am tired of hearing you complain incessantly since Flatstock.

"quick question for you my friend... why would you want to frame and hang a poster on your wall from a show you didnt go to? help me understand."[/quote]
Quick answer... Uhhh... because of the art????? I wasnt at The DC, Toronto or South America show, but they look damn good on the wall.
I just collect the posters for the crack whores to look at whilst I'm dustin the muffin. Then I tell them I actually went to all those shows and know the band.
They don't care.....they're crack whores for christssake!!!!!
i like the posters for the images.
if they stir something inside of me, i go for it .
Also- if i go to a show, and i dont really care for the artwork , i probably would still try to get 1 , strictly for my attendance / collection purposes.
Can anyone assist me in getting a DC 06 and a PJ / U2 Hawaii- should i be absent when the sales go onward- from both artillery and / or 10 Club. ?
thanks a whole lot.

Bath, not 100% positive but I think BK said that there wouldn't be any DC '06s on the site, you had to wait for the 10c sale or go to ebay. I have to keep reminding myself of that cause it's my #1 Klausen ISO, closely followed by Dusseldorf.

quick question for you my friend... why would you want to frame and hang a poster on your wall from a show you didnt go to? help me understand.
If you take into account that there are thousands of fans at any given show who want that show's poster, plus thousands of fans of any particular band who may want the band's poster, plus thousands who collect posters for the art, it's not hard to believe that a few hundred to thousands of people could have the same taste. For millennia the masses have been attracted to the same artwork.
Why do thousands of people purchase and display Thomas Kincaid's <sp?> work on their walls when I personally think his flowery little houses are redundant, simplistic crap? And Picasso couldn't draw a straight line but lithos of his work are prominent in homes and offices alike (though I do like some of his stuff). I've never met Van Gogh or Monet or Degas and have never been to Arles, but I have copies of their work throughout my home. Every corner of my house is an homage to an art form, from Ancient Egyptian parchments framed in the hall and Greco Roman sculpture here and there, through Impressionism in the master suite and Rock Poster art in the living room. Not to mention my husband's euphoria, one entire room devoted to comic book art. Each room of our modest 3 bedroom house (or 2 bdrms & 1 comic room) is a different artistic journey.
Art is in the eye of the beholder. It's not a stretch to think that most people are collecting posters for the art. It's just the handful of flippers who make it seem more like a money thing, greed or investment.

Wow. I bought it as a joke for a friend of mine that loves unicorns. $20 was fine but I never would have paid $50.
"I'd rather be with an animal." "Those that can be trusted can change their mind." "The in between is mine." "If I don't lose control, explore and not explode, a preternatural other plane with the power to maintain." "Yeh this is living." "Life is what you make it."
