In a cosmic coincidence, Niagara Falls is lit up Prince purple tonight in honor of Queen Elizabeth's 90th birthday . . . . .

I heard about a TV weather report where all the rain colors on the weather map were changed to purple. It really shows the depth of his influence.

Yes,I saw that, pretty awesome... Last night thousands of people flocked to First Ave. Night Club where they were having a tribute party for Prince, so many people showed up that the staff had to rotate people from outside to inside and the cops shut down the streets downtown because it spilled out into the streets surrounding the club and it turned into a huge block party,it just wrapped up at 7 a.m. this morning, but will continue through tomorrow night. There are wild rumors and speculation on what his cause of death is....so sad that every time a celebrity dies that this happens, it detracts from who they were as a person and he was so supportive of local youth inspiring in music and he had contributed so much to our community here as well as the music industry as a whole....he will be sorely missed

Sweetest thing I thought I would share - Prince's family had ordered pizza last night for everyone outside at Paisley, his sister Tyka was handing out single red roses. Such a wonderful gesture from them amidst their grief...

Where I came in. Not my thing. Couldn’t avoid it though, it was on her bedroom wall…

Truly stunned by his death. Had to read the headline a few times. Couldn't believe it, didn't want to. Fuck, he was just in the Bay Area playing shows and hangin' with the Warriors, now gone. FUCKFUCKFUCK

Never really knew a lot of his music, but always wanted to see him at least once. The man could jam on the guitar.

The Minnesota-born artist was always irritated with the traditional music industry, and hated the fact that even if an artist made millions with a new album, the record label that funded it would always retain full ownership rights.

Prince's service was held today at Paisley Park, the local news outlets were kind enough to hold off publicizing this until after the service to allow his family, loved ones and friends their privacy. I would like to share some photos taken of some of things outside honoring him. I asked and have permission from the artist (who was kind enough to pose for me with his painting ) Dan Lacey aka "Painter of Pancakes" to share the photo of the painting here. After the service, his family had provided and handed out to fans little purple boxes with momentos inside, as well as sharing flowers from the service to fans. RIP Prince

I posted this when you pulled this crap in the Bowie thread and apparently you need to read it again. Give learning some compassion a try, it might not be as bad as you think. Even if this didn't affect you it did effect millions world wide. Let those people process in peace.

Thinking about how we mourn artists we've never met. We don't cry because we knew them, we cry because they helped us know ourselves.

That may be one of the dumbest articles I've ever read. Um, how many people mourned when JFK was killed? Did they know him? Or the thousands of people who died on 9/11? I didn't know anyone personally who died on 9/11, but I mourned. What about John Lennon?

I was one of those people who posted the video of Prince doing While My Guitar Gently Weeps and I played the video over and over. And yes, I cried. And mourned for the loss of an amazing talent.

We blasted that Guitar version (yet again!) earlier this evening and yup, tears. Grief. And it was OK.

(should've seen me - or not - when Carlin died...I was a fucking mess)

I had the privilege of meeting and knowing Prince. I will share how this came about- My ex and I are musicians, me by hobby, my ex by career as he went on and has been a guest lead guitarist for David Lee Roth, Big Brother and The Holding Company and others... Many years ago we had gigs in the warehouse district of Mpls as well as Prince, that's when we first met. Later after Prince hit it big,we needed a better soundboard but money was tight for me and hubby, so Prince being the Prince of a person that he was,let us buy his from Paisley and make small monthly payments on it. It took us three yrs, but we paid him. I cry because I knew him....

I'm sorry to hear of your personal loss katwoman, it is very apparent that Prince was proud of his craft and wanted very much to share that talent to enable others to also share their art with others.
You are lucky to have known a beautiful soul.
May his love fill the holes left in your heart.
The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.

Thank you Rkcndy- I switched to my laptop, ya know when somebody dies and you're so tired from the day yet you can't sleep feeling. I will share that as I stood at the gate at Paisley today, frozen, with tears in my eyes, the sweetest thing happened- Prince's brother-in-law came tearing up to the gate in his car, blasted up his car stereo with Prince playing ,jumped out and said with a smile - girl;today, we dance and then he danced at the gate, it made me smile as I snapped a photo. I will post the photo tomorrow, caught him in mid twirl...LOL
