For those traveling to Raleigh how much did this intentional cancellation by PJ cost you?

PJINFLAPJINFLA Posts: 729
For me I'm out $250 and potentially another $250 if I can't use my airline credit by Feb.
Shit I could have bought a GnR ticket with that $250!
Thanks for your arrogance PJ!

    I actually got lucky.

Southwest refunded all my points and even the $11 fee. 10 Club I will assume will refund every cent. I was staying with friends, so no hotel reservations/fees. No rental car. At work, its a small company, I'm able to just cancel my days off.

My damage is all emotional, so I consider myself fortunate. Very bummed though. Wanted/needed this vacation, was packed and it was set on fire 36 hours before I was to leave.

I hope this thread doesn't turn into a contest to find out who lost the most money. I am curious too, but big picture, losing money is nowhere close to being discriminated against.

I think there is the $$$ lost aspect, and the intangible costs as well. In my case I was suppose to be leaving this evening from Columbus, OH, spending the night along the way and then picking up 3 friends at the Raleigh airport tomorrow morning. We were then driving on to Columbia. It was too late for any of them to cancel or change flights without massive change fees, and Columbia is a lot more expensive to fly into... so now I have the pleasure of driving 7+ hours simply to pick them up at the airport and then drive to Columbia with nothing to do until Thursday. If they would have cancelled even a few days earlier I might have been able to coordinate a flight myself instead of driving all over the Carolina's for no reason. What a waste.

Nothing, really. I'm staying in SC now, so I did fill the tank yesterday for $9, and checked the air in the tires for $1, but didn't have a hotel or anything else up there booked, hoping they would cancel, so pretty easy. Will just use the air and gas to get me to Columbia, which was always part of the plan anyway.

$250 for Wednesday + a burned day off. not the end of the world. However, when I book my PJ trips its for 2 shows. I would never pay flight hotel and 3 days off for 1 show. I would of picked a different city. I'm over it and moving on. Looking forwrd to see everyone in Columbia. I have a feeling PJ will swing for the fences Thursday night!!

did you check the Charlotte or Greenville airports? they are typically cheaper and should be on your route from Columbus... not sure of how much the fees are though would it be comparable to the money spent on gas to go that far out of the way? I did originally yes. The plan was solid before the cancellation. I was doing the driving, but saved us rental car, etc. They are actually flying out of Charlotte the day after the Columbia show because it was way cheaper. I was going to be driving to Raleigh anyway, so trying to tell myself that. A few extra hours in the car won't kill me, just a bummer. I'm better off than people that lost hard cash I know.

$820 all-in... flights from Denver, altered into Columbia - rather than Raleigh. Lost one night hotel at the Comfort Inn by the arena in Raleigh. Was renting a one-way car from Raleigh to Columbia. Got hosed - thanks to the hypocritical, moronic, and last-minute choice by the band. My view towards them is forever changed... If I could refund my future 10c seats (Columbia and Chicago x2) I would.... $800 bucks is a lot to me and my wife. Thanks PJ - looks like its a major, impactful decision too - as its not even a note-worthy news story on any major news outlet / website. The only impact it has was on their fans' wallets. Grow up PJ. Grow up.

i'm still going to columbia and i'm still flying into raleigh and staying tomorrow night. it would have been nice to know a week ago so i could change my flight to columbia without paying an extra $260. plus i wouldn't have had to rent a car.

i wouldn't have traveled for 1 show though. i chose these two because they were back to back.
This show, another show, a show here and a show there.

Out $295 flight and 2 days of PTO. Still going on the trip to see friends (so how much have I truly lost) except for a 3 hour concert and an awesome experience. I'll still have fun and likely put more money in the NC coffers.

A good moral of the story is don't travel anywhere for a concert that you're not really interested in checking out as a vacation spot. I had tickets to the EV shows in Vegas that got cancelled five days before the tour started there. Sure it was a disappointment, I probably would have cancelled the trip if I could have, but we still went away and had a nice four day vacation, refunded the tickets, ate at nice restaurants and did some other cool events instead. Now I book my Pearl Jam trips with that in mind; where would I still like to visit or spend a few days regardless if there are concerts there.

Burned vacation day and $56 lost on Airbnb rental.

For everyone who went the AirBnb route, I called them and they said if the hosts are willing, they can lighten their cancellation policy even after you cancel so you get a full refund. You can hit up the hosts, explain the situation and hopefully they will go back and change it. I was able to get a full refund from my hosts this way.

A good moral of the story is don't travel anywhere for a concert that you're not really interested in checking out as a vacation spot. I had tickets to the EV shows in Vegas that got cancelled five days before the tour started there. Sure it was a disappointment, I probably would have cancelled the trip if I could have, but we still went away and had a nice four day vacation, refunded the tickets, ate at nice restaurants and did some other cool event instead. Now I book my Pearl Jam trips with that in mind; where would I still like to visit or spend a few days regardless if there are concerts there.

Exactly...Philly Boston and chicago for me...I've seen the band 35 times...no need for me spend time, money and energy in Greenville, Raleigh or Lexington...On a side note, someone is doing 16 shows this tour lol...
  • It cost me my virginity. It's a long story but damn you PJ!

    Pffffft!!! Hahahaa!!

that is good advice.... normally how I regard their shows. If it's not somewhere I didn't want to visit independent of PJ, I won't make travel plans.

That said, it sucks.... but y'all didn't total your car yesterday trying to get to work in Houston flooding...

    so it could be worse....

(not saying I did total mine, hopefully I'll get good news in the next few days from the repair shop... and for the record, the car was less than a couple of blocks from the house when I said "your stupid, go home" and found my path to home blocked and got flooded trying to find an alternative route).

Houston, Texas... Believe it or not, there are 7 million people here... must be a couple of fans who'd love to see you play.
