If this is true....that is seriously disgusting. They should get more then heavily heckled. Limits needs to be put in place.

Stopped by around 12:30, line far too long to jump into. Had to grab lunch and head back to office. Sad that they allowed folks to snap up all the pennants, pins. cards etc. with no limits.
Every time I hold out a sliver of hope that the 10c can handle the merch in a fair way (limiting purchases or actually supplying the demand), it gets worse. This time I expect everything show related to be sold out before the weekend. One less thing to worry about I guess -- silver lining!!
10C tries to do a good thing by setting up shop early and then greed kicks in by those who purchase the items
Right. But the question then is, how do you best curtail the greed? I would think limiting the posters to 1 (along with all show/weekend specific merch) would be a start. Selling the merch outside the venue encourages greed. Hell, fans are paying people to wait in line for them or getting groups together to go. Someone said someone had their grandparents in line today -- there was a Craigslist add for someone looking to hire people to wait in line to buy posters.
Selling outside in advance cuts too many fans out of the equation. Even if I lived in Boston, I couldn't afford to take a day off of work to buy merch, and that is the case with most local fans as well I'm sure. Sell everything inside -- force people to carry what they want to buy, or don't buy it. Or sell them in advance to at least the 10c ticket holders. They did wristbands for 1 tour -- it was perfect! Didn't have to waste my show day in lines, and picked up a poster on my way out. I believe that was MSG 08. Selling merch 4 days in advance so when a large majority of the fans show up for the actual show, they can't buy any of the cool, show specific items. That's a good and fair way to do it? I don't think so. I lined up over an hour before gates at MSG, had to sprint to even have a shot at the poster -- I was 8th in line and they sold out by the 16th person. There was NEVER that limited of supply inside the venue for a show before they started to sell outside the venue. There were lines, posters sold out, but if you got there within 30 minutes of the gates opening, you could get one without having to trample a fellow fan.
I agree that 10c is trying to do a good thing for their members (at least I would hope!), but it baffles me that this is the best way. I guess they just don't want lines forming in the venues or something, or people lining up before the show. I don't know. In the end it's about the music, so it won't ruin my time, but I love getting a poster for a show I go to.
This is not the person buying fault. They are being allowed to do that. It's the merch people's fault. And yes no business buying up the whole Place makes you an a- hole

Ha! I did the same thing. We should've had lunch together!
I peeked in the window at that time and saw that there were only two Steve Thomas posters left and maybe ten of each of the others.
Don't believe some of the updates - I was in the #60s and able to get patches, stickers, buttons, posters - I think a couple sizes might have sold out on some stuff like 2XL sweatshirts but most things seemed still in stock.
"Hey, listen asshole, one more fucker throws a fuckin' quarter up here and we're outta here, I'm tellin' ya, FUCKER! What the fuck, you're blowin' it for fuckin' everybody. Hit me with a fuckin' quarter again and, fuck it, I'm outta here. We're all outta here. Fuck you, and if anyone sees someone throw fuckin' change right next to them, you have my permission to beat the fuckin' holy shit outta them."
It's absolute idiocy. They know full well this will happen, yet they can't be bothered with setting limits or (better yet) putting up preorders so that EVERYONE can get what they want while they still make a killing. I guess if everyone got something it would actually devalue much of this merch which apparently isn't acceptable.

So I'm going to both shows all I want to do is pick up the baseball style shirt and a hat. Will I have a problem getting either of those in Fenway?
I really though there wouldn't be too much of a rush today. I work in south Boston and thought about going over during my lunch break, I'm glad I didn't. Really shitty how they let those people basically buy everything up right away.

There were quite a few seasoned flippers in line. Had quite the operation running. Paying kids to sit in line, giving them orders for stuff, and holding a FAT wad of cash to hand to the kids when they ran out of money for all the shit they were buying him.
I don't confront people very often, but I had to call this asshole out. And I''m sure he'll be there the other days as well pulling the same shit.

So glad I quit buying things that say "Pearl Jam" on them. This is crazy and I laugh, but does suck for the average person that would like a little memento of the show.

I don't understand why they need to have the merch booths open for so many hours and days if they're just going to sell everything to the first few people in line and not put limits on stuff

I doubt this happens very much (unless it's an awesome add in for picking up the item). I have asked a few times and nothing. Only ever picked up something extra for actual friends or charity. People buy extra to try and trade or flip or collect.
As for limits, from working the Telluride merch booth - staff there just gets the stuff, their job is to sell it. There isn't PJ staff sitting there telling them about limits... In Telluride they decided to put a limit when they realized it was getting ridiculous, and then pissed of a bunch of people who were trying to buy more than one.
Wouldn't it be funny if the world ended in 2010, with lots of fire?

But at some point wouldn't they overstock themselves? The issue is, hopefully PJ has enough inventory to flood the market. If they do this same amount Day 2, by Day 3 will the flippers who had unfettered access the first 2 days really need more inventory? At some point it becomes self defeating, as the 2ndary market is only so big.
So, this all comes down to - how much inventory did PJ anticipate? I could see lines going down by Thursday, then pick back up again Friday when the real fans arrive. But, at some point the flippers tip their own economic model if there is enough gross merch to allow that to happen.
This is really how PJ could break the flipping crowd - invest in a whole bunch of excess merch to make sure the fans get what they need first hand. It would probably be cheaper to do this than their Quixotic TM fight.
Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.
Not to burst any bubbles but pretty sure the person organizing the stoopes off Craiglist was a10C member as she had a limited edition PJ bag. She was handing cash to different people in line who didn't appear to be fans. I had an older couple in front of me who were getting money put on a debit card for them - it was obvious they were bought as they didn't speak English and we're getting very confused by what they were suppose to do/buy.
The zenith of PJ merchandise ridiculousness.

Any pics of the jersey? those look kind of cool. From the flyer it looked like there were going to be 6 posters, do they not release them all at once? are some show specific and not have both dates on them???
