I think he's trying to say that 9/11 happened because America is too accepting of people. With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata0

Yeah, yeah, because we always need to pass laws when everything is going just fine:PJ_Soul said:
Not en masse they don't. Sure there are still some bigots around, but they have no power whatsoever and no one cares, and the government doesn't support bigotry because of the law and and the Charter of Rights (not to mention common sense and knowing that it would lose them an election). That counts for all parties btw. The Conservatives weren't so open as accepting as the other parties, but a bit to their credit, they still certainly never had any thought to try and restrict civil rights, and our politicians, even the fundamentalist like PM Harper, keep their religious biases and personal bigotry out of government, just like they are supposed to do. Even our right wingers look left next to many Republicans, lol.Godfather. said:
I doubt what you claim is true but if that's what you believe that's cool.PJ_Soul said:
People have no problem accepting it in Canada as far as I can tell. Seems like the human mind is perfectly capable of handling it. Just not some bigotted minds maybe, or simple minds that can't process change well.Godfather. said:did anybody not see this coming ? did you think the other 70% of humans would just accept this and go about their merry way ? that's not how the human mind works but nobody ever thinks about that when they force something on the larger majority of people.

Godfather.
Here is what's happening in Canada without controversy outside of people trolling Facebook threads. No media storm, no crazy politicians ranting about God, no angry mobs screaming about families, nothing. It's just happening and the majority of people are glad. Those who aren't are bitching on social media to no avail. BTW, I am saying this stuff to prove that acceptance IS possible, since GF thinks what's happening in the US is natural.

EVERYBODY could benefit from being more open to equal rights!!!! No fucking kidding. But do you realize how diverse this country is???? I will stop getting butt hurt (no pun intended) when you quit painting such broad strokes about "America" and "Americans" as though we have a single homogeneous culture (no pun intended again). It's an obnoxious, unhelpful way to frame a problem, especially a problem that isn't even yours to begin with over there in your utopian Vancouver. Have you ever even been to North Carolina? What the hell do you know about its people if you've never met a single one???PJ_Soul said:

I actually don't think any of that at all. Not even a tiny bit, and I have never once made a single comment about the people and what they are like in NC. You are COMPLETELY reading into what I'm saying incorrectly.what dreams said:

About what? I have never in my life thought or suggested that America is a homogenous culture. If it were, we wouldn't even be having this conversation. My issue is entirely with the American GOVERNMENT and many of the politicians within it. As I already stated (and was met with confounding resistance) is that there are a lot of politicians and even Supreme Course Justices in America who perpetuate bigotry in the US. THAT is what the problem is, as everything I have said outlines, but was ignored as usual.rustneversleeps said:

Yeah, I edit everything. I have an itchy posting trigger finger. I do it with zero intent, other than to either fix typos, or to add a thought that came to me immediately after posting. No apologies. I see nothing wrong with it. (and there was an edit to that post too, lol. Had to delete a misplaced "and" or something and make a sentence more grammatically correct).Post edited by PJ_Soul onWith all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. American politicians aren't the only corrupt and greedy people in the world. Why does an american primary get covered worldwide but most couldn't tell you who the British prime minister is?will myself to find a home, a home within myself

Wtf? When did I say they were the only corrupt and greedy people in the world? We happen to be talking about American politicians in this thread. Would you like me to go wildly off topic and randomly start talking about Russian politicians, Chinese politicians, random corrupt Canadian politicians (who I happily talk about int he Canadian politics thread)? Or would you like to remember that we're actually talking about something specific here, and that I'm in context? (and, um, yeah, more people could tell you who the British Prime Minister is. People outside of the States actually do pay attention to non-American news as well. It's just that the current US political situation is basically out of control. That tends to attract a lot of attention!).Degeneratefk said:American politicians aren't the only corrupt and greedy people in the world. No, you didn't say the American GOVERNMENT could benefit from being more open minded. Nor have you named a single politician as an example. You said "America and Americans." Quit backtracking and playing innocent. OR, get better at saying what you mean without coming across as, quite honestly, as closed minded and judgmental as the people you lecture about incessantly.PJ_Soul said:

I always say what I mean. Adding to my thoughts (or correcting typos), which i do a lot, doesn't change that. This is simply how I manage my thought process. If I could make the first post perfect the first time, expressing everything I want to say, I would. Maybe it's a bit of a learning disability, I don't know. At any rate, I will post any way I want.PJfanwillneverleave1 said:^^^
