I don't have any problem with them making the crates. They ARE beautiful, and if someone wants to pay for them, they'll surely look amazing.

The only thing I dont get is why we cant get something as simple and easy as a slipmat if we can get custom Pearl Jam crates

Remind me why I'd want to store my collectibles in an overpriced box made of untreated wood that will likely destroy my records?

Continue to check the wishlist foundation for slipmats... (currently sold out or removed?) I recently got a PJ themed one that looks pretty sweet and it was like $12... also, there are much more affordable alternatives to the PJ themed crates... I found some pretty good looking ones via Amazon.

You don't want it because it's practical. You want it because it has Pearl Jam emblazoned on it. Silly :get_outta_here:

Before we rip on Ten Club, please understand that Lookwright charges these same prices for blank crates on their website. Same goes for the ones on Discogs site with their logo.

I can't begrudge 10c on the price. As you say, that is what the manufacturer charges, too. What I can begrudge is that 10c works with these types of manufacturers who make things for people with more money than sense. Why not work with a company who produces less expensive items that are functional and affordable, and sell a shit ton of them?
    Can't argue with ya there!

I like them. I bought two of each. I'm willing to pay more for something made in the USA, hopefully by a company that supports and cares about its employees.

There has been some PJ merch over the past ten years or so which I did not buy because I did not like the items and/or I thought they were overpriced. I missed my opportunity to complain about the price gouging lameness of these items when they were offered here for sale. And I again missed my opportunity to complain when they sold out after a month or two and nobody had told me that they were indeed coveted by others!

If they have a lot of these left, maybe they can use them for the next mystery box -- that would be pretty awesome!

I have been asking for a vinyl box for years and a slip mat. But I can't justify this with shipping it's just out of my price range. Gutted. Would love to store my pearl jam vinyl( opened and played ) in a pearl jam case. I may now leave and cry.

The picture that –decodified- posted is really useful, and if I wanted to deal with $100 drawers in my already existing vinyl shelving unit then these would be cool but VERY expensive additions. IMO, using them in this way makes getting your records out, as well as putting back, pretty cumbersome. Even more so for those of us anal-retentive people who alphabetize our collections.

Those of us that have and/or play records are very likely to already have a storage system that doesn’t revolve around crates, and if someone is using crates chances are their crates are of the cheap variety because let’s face it, many of us here are cheap fucks (no offense, I include myself in that category). Although we splurge on the good stuff, I’m betting most people are grateful this is tour time and our budgets are already blown on the coming tour expenses because it makes it easy to say no to these.

MendozK, I agree with you 100%. Is it really likely that someone who isn’t already using crates is going to start now? I’d doubt it, especially at this cost, and it begs the question – is 10C putting these out because they think they’ll actually be used as intended, or is it just another vision of dollar signs because they know most of us start drooling when something official comes out that actually says “Pearl Jam” on it.

Are they cool? Sure. Was it a good idea? I don’t think so. A good thought at the start maybe, but another bad decision based on the price point.

As for where all the other vinyl related PJ products are, look around, it’s out there, but it seems the stuff many of us have been asking for is now fan-made, and quite frankly pretty damn good quality too. Even Wishlist Foundation made a pretty cool one. And I’ve seen some pictures people have posted here with some fan-made slip mats in the background. Hell, I have 4 of them and love them.

And the end of the day, the haters can all blame Kev for these boxes, based on the title of his post from back in 2012.

I WILL TAKE THE BLAME. SLIP MAT I MIGHT BE ABLE TO BUY.
THE BOXES LOOK GREAT. BTW. LOOK VERY SOLID.
FLAT PACKING MIGHT HAVE SAVED ON SHIPPING. ..?

It's possible that you may have made your keyboard angry. If you touch it and tell it how lovely it is, it may start to love you again and then the caps lock will stop being so very tense.

Topic integrity: Have I mentioned that I do appreciate the crates? I do. I have a cube that is yet to be filled. I won't be purchasing one, but they look awesome! I appreciate that there is a different product to choose from.

$54 shipping to Australia for the 12", making the total price $207AUD (or 106 GBP if I use my UK account)... Personally I think they look really nice, but like so many people here I just can't justify the price tag.

I'm looking forward to seeing the photos that people post when they receive (and fill) their boxes, although I'll probably be insanely jealous of them!

To echo the sentiment here these look like really nice crates. If they were a bit more reasonable I'd be all over them. No big deal though because I couldn't afford the hundreds and hundreds it would cost me to fill them with the rest of Pearl Jam's back catalog that I don't own. It makes no sense to me to sell milk crates and dog collars and backpacks and who knows what else when the band just won't repress their goddamn back catalog already.

I have a job, but I still have to decide what to spend my finite paycheques on. These would end up costing me alot of money. They are pretty sweet but to hold all my records I would need a number of them. I've got a 4x4 cubed ikea shelf that's just under half full with records... gonna be a while until I run out of room :)

I have to ask, why are you putting the records in boxes and then putting the boxes into the ikea shelf? I put mine in the cubes. Shelf is against the wall so they aren't going to fall out the back. It makes it pretty easy to access the records (I don't think to pull a box out to access them?). What's wrong with an Ikea shelf as is? :)
