Can anyone explain why a candidate should disavow a registered voters "support"?
I don't understand wh in a "fee and fair democracy" someone needs to answer why someone else supports them?
    Serious question. Help?
To me it's like asking someone to read a person's mind and explain it then explain why you are or are not okay with it.

the same reason certain musicians do not allow certain politicians to use their music. the musician does not want their name associated with that politician's message. trump should not want his good name associated with david duke. he should reject duke's endorsement, because if he doesn't it makes him look like he is actively courting the votes of duke's supporters. he actually is, so he will not disavow this endorsement.
No way not buying your analogy. It would be the equivalent to someone saying publicly I like pearl jam, I support that band and their causes.

If Charles Manson says I like PJ, I buy all there records, listen to them constantly and hope they get inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame. Manson is allowed to like PJ. I don't expect PJ to be called out to disavow him.
david duke is telling people to vote for trump because trump will serve his agenda. he is not telling people to go buy some tasty vinyl.
Doesn't answer the question why anyone needs to disavow someones support.

Anyway, so let's say 5,000 people now are going to vote for trump just because and only because duke "endorsed" him, wtf is the big deal? Aren't people that think like duke voting for trump anyway?

I remember when the democrats used this tactic on Nader, disavow republican support blah blah blah.
How about running a strong candidate and then maybe you wouldn't have to worry about "disavowing".

I never really understood the need for candidates or people to disavow. Pretty stupid in my mind. Just state your opinion on issues. Disavowing is just a media gotcha game built for the sound byte world we helped create.

    BOOM goes the dynamite!

I would agree about disavowing in most cases. A terrorist hate group? Yeah, I think anyone who wants to be president should absolutely disavow the support of a terrorist hate group.

No. You want to make a slippery slope argument and it doesn't have any relevance. The KKK is a universally known hate group, without any political or situational controversy. It is not a dubious distinction, it is a fact.

No slippery slope argument I just wanted to see if the shoe fit the IDF, US congress, the dod, cia etc.

That IS a slippery slope argument, and you are listing organizations of which a hate group designation would be controversial, and up for debate.
There is no debate or controversy over the designation of the KKK as a hate group, it is universally accepted. That makes a refusal to disavow akin to approval.

In other words you want to create a slippery slope.

Trump is not required to disavow anything. At the same time, voters everywhere are able to take that refusal to disavow into consideration when making their choice on whom to vote for.

The question should not be whether a candidate disavows the KKK it should be, why do you think they support you

I had just watched Rubio trash trump at the collage forum......Rubio just ended his chances of even going any further in my opinion, comments about his tan..his hands ? this Cuban has some real class, if you like Trump or not doesn't matter, the juvenile personal attacks at RNC debate showed me what an idiot these two other candidates really are, if trump drops out for some reason I doubt I'll be voting republican..... EFFIN A-HOLES !

I think both Rubio and Cruz have decided to play Trump's game. It is Trump who drug the entire GOP race down to personal shots. He did it in every debate. He avoided having to talk about issues and spent a lot of time taking nasty, personal shots at various candidates, especially Jeb. Since it hasn't hurt him, I think the others have decided to fight fire with fire. I thought it was funny hearing Rubio give Trump some of his own medicine.

    I love this:
"In response to the property mogul calling him "little Rubio," Rubio conceded that Trump was taller than him. However, the Florida senator suggested Trump had small hands for his height.

"And you know what they say about guys with small hands," Rubio said with a smile, prompting stunned laughter from the crowd.

After a brief pause he added: "You can't trust 'em!" The crowd responded with applause.

Rubio also targeted Trump's notorious tan, saying he "doesn't sweat because his pores are clogged from the spray tan."

"Donald Trump isn't gonna make America great, he's gonna make America orange," he said."

It is amazing that this is what American politics has come to. Think I'll head over to the David Brooks missing Obama thread to try and cheer myself up.

Hold up....you don't like these guys resorting to personal attacks but you do like Trump who has based his entire candidacy on personal attacks?
