my compliments for the photos!! very beautiful :)
    did you enjoy milan?
  • Milan was wonderful... the crowd was a little rough... but they were a good crowd... singing well... Pearl Jam seemed to really have fun which is always good.

The day afetr was brilliant too... just relaxed and wandering aroudn the centre of milan talking to all the pearl jam fans... it felt great to be part of something... Pearl Jam fans have taken over Northern Italy at the moment and it's great!!!

Ehi ScotInAmerica, very good photos! do u like my smog-city?
anyway...A friend of mine went to Torino yesterday..and soon as it possible i've got the photos...
    Bye bye;-)
  • It's hard even trying to think about anything else after the amazing things we've seen over the last few weeks. His ass is burned into my memory forever.

Where abouts were you in the arena? My girlfriend and I got front row Stone's side. Eddie climbed the speaker stack during Alive right in front of us! Got some great photos.

Hey Release Me - did I meet you and your girlfriend after the show in Milan - we went to a little bar for a couple of drinks and some nice bruschetta with Maria from the US and Barbara from Italy? I went back to my hotel and realised that I didn't get your names!
  • Ehi, does someone can tell me where was Jill? I'm very curious!
No one was at the '96 show? I'd like to remember together :)

Nope, don't think that was us sorry! After the show, we had to rush to the metro station and get the train because we had an early flight the next morning!

There are a couple other ReleaseMe's on the forum, good luck finding the right person!

Jill was to the right if you're looking at the stage, stood sidestage watching the show. We were pretty much right in front of her where we were. She was crying during 'Picture in a Frame'. So sweet!

    And here comes Milan...

never saw them there. Flew across the ocean to get them.
I really really wanted to be in first row, so I went there pretty early and I was happy to see that we were really close to the stage. From the looks of it, I was standing right behind ScotinAmsterdam and his Scottish friends. Were you guys with two Americans? I was a bitch to them, would not let one rejoin the other up front. Luckily I saw them again at the airport yesterday and could apologize. Anyway... MMJ sounded great and we really enjoyed them. I got to chat with a couple of Italian fans from Sicily and found out he was the lucky one who had gotten MY Matt drumstick in Verona :).
I was really excited, but that all ended when Pearl Jam took the stage. I found it strange that Ed mentioned safety in Verona where there was assigned seating and didn't say a word in Milan. I truly thought I was going to die. They had a very hard start too, and that didn't help. I don't know how I managed to call a friend during Last Exit, but I did. I could not even remember they had played Save You when I read the setlist today. It was fucking horrible. A girl shorter than me (I'm 5' 7) had the look of death on her face. I asked if she needed help and then I thought... well what the fuck can I do for her, I'm dying anyway myself. She was finally pulled up and carried up front. And that's when I decided that if I wanted to be in first row so the guys could see how happy they make me... that was not going to happen. So I turned back, put on my angriest face and started elbowing my way back to about one third back from the stage. I thought I had cracked a rib, cause well until after corduroy I could not breathe. So if you ask me... GA sucks and they should do assigned seating whenever they can.

Now the nice part starts...what a great show. I finally got Man of the Hour (thank you Dreamn :)), and got the whole Avocado in two nights.
The first encore was incredible. It was wonderful to see Ed so relaxed and happy and intimate. I had no idea he had met Jill in Milan :).

Big Wave was great, and Leash... so good to hear it again. I thought it was funny that the milan crowd didn't seem to make such a big deal about it. Too bad it was so hot in there and I didn't have enough energy left by then to jump it all the way :)

Very special show, thank you guys :)
... and the will to show I will always be better than before.

Did they play one right into the other or was there a break?

There was a short break between them, and Ed said something along the lines of "just gonna try something here..." before going into MOTH.

Well, there was a short break between songs as usual...
    Dont know what you mean.
I think they switched instruments, Jeff was playing the string bass (dunno how its called), so I think thats what happened.
Ppl thought it was on stage cause of Nothing As It Seems, but they put it cause of Man Of The Hour and some other song, cant remember which one now...

Ahh there we go - sorry I didn't catch your name at the time (too tired and/or high from the show!) but I remembered that you were on the board somewhere and when Release Me said they were right in front of Ed when he was on the speaker I thought it was you and Vicky!!

Magnificent show - it seemed to me that almost every person in the building was completely going off - it will take a lot to surpass that crowd at any future shows!

Very stoked that Maria got her song - it means that people's requests are heard!

I am going to both the Prague and Berlin shows so I will see you there!

Yep - good fun had by all!!

Looking forward to meeting some more PJ crazy people in Prague and Berlin!
  • That in Milan was my first concert and all I can say is WOW, absolutely amazing!!! I can't wait for the next gig (hopefully not in another 6 years time)!!! Eddie was very nice (he spoke in Italian) and very high too!!!! I just hope he didn't hurt himself when he fall down smashing his head on the floor!!!! By the way, I didn't see him crying, when that happened?!?!

  • Great show, great crowd, everything you said about that evening it'a correct!

I saw PJ ten years ago in milan and there is no match between the 2 shows!

I'm sorry to read that someone was hurt in the first row...but in the Italian rock shows you have to avoid the first and second rows...always!

To be honest was a normal "dancing pit" for us...you can't imagine what happens during hard rock shows (I remember the first FOO FIGHTERS show in a small club...that was a fighting pit!) , but if you want you can avoid the dangerous zone.

I disagree. I grew up in Milan and went first row for a few shows. It was survivable. This one was not, at least for me.

Maybe it's just that 15 years have gone by :p

Ahh, I was in the first row at milan and I got completley crushed! but it was worth it...

Glad I wasn't the only one who felt uncomfortable in the first few rows. Normally I would have rode it out, but I had my girlfriend with me and I didn't think it worth the risk. Quite a few guys behind us really intent on going full force into us. Not a nice feeling.

Don't get me wrong it was an amazing show, but a bit tainted by the fact that a few individuals forced us to move back after queuing for a good few hours to get a good spot - basically negating all the good points of having tenclub tickets.

I heard there was a pit in Dublin - why not for others?

  • i think elsewhere i have gone on quite a lot about this all...but yes........man of the hour....nuff said. :D

    *still beaming*

what a show! what a crowd! what a fucking tour of italy!

oh, and ed speaking a bit of italian at each show, *heart melts*....and picture in a frame....?......such a gushy romantic, loved it.

also.....i must say that the boys at each and every show seemed to be LOVING each and every minute, like they had the best time playing, being together, being in italy, enjoying the crowds etc.....just an unreal experience.

wow, great stuff! lovely meeting you and everyone...and lucky you on meeting jeff. sadly, i did not meet any of the boys in italy as i had hoped...altho i certainly had enough cappuccino tryin' ;)...hahaha....but still, i had the BEST time!
    Stay with me...
    Let's just breathe...

I am myself like you somehow

  • This show was my third and last show of my Italy trip.

Well first I want to thank Karen B. for selling me her 10c ticket...Since I was not that lucky to get tix through the 10c sale.

We got there and saw many 10c members too from different countries...We even saw two fans with kelts ( I hope I am spelling it right)
Saw lots of Mexicans fans. One with a mask of a wrestler. cool.

this time i was prepared not to get pushed and hurt like in Bologna. I've never seeing a security guard with sunglasses hanging from his shirt while on duty.lol oh well
again PJ security had to regulate this so called security.

My friends and I were standing on stone side but closer to the speakers.lol

From the start this show was going to be magical. The energy was intense. the band was all giving it 100% up on stage.
My highlight were seeing Olivia dance during Daughter...I thought that was such a coincidence. First time seeing the tag "Brick on the Wall"
Eddie was all sentimental during black...He teared....Even I did...my first time this song makes me tear during a live show....it was the way the crowd was singing the toodutututududu part ( i think that's how you spell that) lol...and seeing him so emotional got to me too.

He also dedicated a song to the mother of his bambina. I think it was a Tom Waits song..lol which i thought it was so romantic. Even Jill was tearing. I think they met in Milan. I think that's what Eddie said.

I wanted to hear Education since Verona...but got to hear it on the sound check in Verona...but didn't get that in Milan, however did get "BIG WAVE"...I was so happy...I always like to hear rarerities or bsides. Great to see it live. He was doing this so called dance and acting like he was surfing. fun to watch.lol

This show set list, was great....and very emotional and powerful to see on stage. Thanks PJ for the opportunity to see you abroad...specially in Italy since I've been always wanting to go there since highschool.

Thanks to my friends who share this experience with me and thanks to those people that I met along this journey.

Now back in the US...hoping for the next PJ album/Tour adventure.

Have fun to all that are still waiting for their turn of some PJ Love!
    :)
