Always wanted to visit and really want to use this show as an excuse to go. Just trying to figure out a cheap and easy way to get there from Boston. Heard there's several buses to Montreal and a bus that runs between Montreal and Quebec. Might have to do this.

My wife and I are coming. Coming with friends, driving up from Maine so not too far. Wife and I are both members, and it looks like GA tix are pretty good chance which would be great to get 4, since our friends aren't in 10C. The good conversion rate right now is also helping, especially comparing hotels to those in NYC.

The old city is absolutely beautiful. Met someone while waiting in the NYC Volcom line this past September who mentioned that Metallica show and he was thoroughly impressed with the venue. Got me excited for the show at that time but unfortunately I can't make it work.

Re: the '05 show - the crowd was certainly excited but Ed's hangover from staying up late the night prior getting drunk with members of U2 didn't help. A few songs were cut from the setlist as I recall. I imagine Ed will want to make up for the '05 show which should make for a fantastic '16 show.

In the same boat as you. Looks like about a 5hr drive from Portland. Wife and I spent part of our honeymood in Quebec, so it would be a nice return :)

I've always had a blast at MSG shows but the money can be insane. Quebec should be a lot of fun.

Yes indeed some songs were cut and he mentionned his late night with U2... but hey... he gave his best nontheless...

May make the trip from Maine to Quebec City for this show...last time I visited Quebec was during Winter Carnival way back in my college days. Seeing PJ there would be a blast, but not as easy to get away these days! Anybody know who's providing the pre-sale code at this venue?

Two places that have both: http://www.lavoiemaltee.com/ and http://www.archibaldmicrobrasserie.ca/contenu/index.php/fr/restaurant-duplessis.html Reservations will be necessary for both especially on a Thursday with a major concert in town. La Voie Maltée is a little closer to the venue (10 -15 min. drive) and sligtly higher end foodwise. Archibald would be more like 20 -25 min. from the venue , it is a bigger place and gets very busy. Awesome beer choices at both spots.

    This.
Get a place to stay anywhere in Old Quebec or near Chateau Frontenac and you will not be void of craft beers and food.

    Google Old Quebec images.

Make sure your pit stop is not between 3:25 and 5:00.

Looking online doesn't look like any hotels close to the venue. Quite a few B&Bs but I prefer a hotel.

The majority of hotels are either in Ste-Foy or Old Quebec, neither of which are feasible walks to the venue. There are a couple of good places that are an easy 30 min. walk / 10 min. drive however. Check out the Royal William on Charest, the Tryp by Windham or the Best Western Plus on De La Couronne. Much less touristy than old Quebec but I love the area and tons of hidden gems as far as food is concerned.

    Quebec is not New York.
Call a cab it will be there in 5mins and will get you to the venue for $15.
  • Options
I agree that the cab will be relatively cheap but if it is leaving from where most hotels are any time between 4 and 7 on a Thursday, I promise you it won't be 5 minutes. The city is not made for driving; the combination of rush hour traffic in Quebec and the worst traffic light system I've ever seen makes for a very frustrating experience. Things are far more fluid outside rush hour however.
