Welp. Just caught up reading over 330 posts. I have been here lol but not keeping up. I jumped on board with the op and others in the beginning. I dropped 5 lbs. I have kept those 5lbs off. I ffluctuate but always stay at that 5 loss mark after well ya know after my aunts monthly visit. I have done nothing special but watch what I eat and try to do better the next day.

Going to try to get going again. I've said before I work long hours and have three kids and my husband so that's five schedules to keep track of and coordinate. Gotta get exercise in the mix and that is my goal this week starting today.

Goal. Two 15 minutes on the elliptical.

So proud of all of you. Great examples!
Oh please let it rain today.

^^Thanks. Seems I need to start by going to an actual athletic shoe store and not Rack Room. I asked the employee at Rack Room to tell me about the running shoes and she just gave me a vacant stare. I was given a flyer for some sort of a tread mill assessment at a local athletic store. I'm wondering if that's where they can check my "gait"? Thanks for the insight. I haven't noticed as much new bruising since I bought a new pair of shoes. I mean my last ones were ripped to shreds...

    Some advice....
Good running shoes (shoes made just for running ) will only last maybe 500 miles of running. Of course this depends on your weight, foot size, conditions they are used in, and how you use them. Some will last a little longer some less.
You should also have more than one pair and rotate their use. Yes I know this can be pricey but will be good for your feet in the long run.

Never buy running shoes from a big box store unless it is a brand and model you know works for you.

Try to rotate between trail and street running.
A real running store will have a treadmill with video analysis and well trained employees to take you through the process of finding the right brand model for your feet.
A good pair of socks helps as well. Never wear cotton socks.
    I prefer Smartwool running socks.

Don't buy based on how the shoes look.

    Have fun
Wow, thanks for all the info. And I never even considered something other than cotton socks... hmmm

Cotton is not good for any sort of physical activity. It holds moisture and odors.

It's so beautiful outside I have been walking around. I would walk five miles for a sandwich and a cup of tea. I ended up walking down many streets for the first time.

I walked 25 miles in a week four weeks ago. Last week I walked nine miles. The week before I walked 23. When the weather is too cold I'll go back on the treadmill.

Walked 2.5 miles to the metro. My goal was to see if I dress appropriately to walk in 44 degrees.

Walked 4 miles on a treadmill. I ran a small amount, and it was comfortable. My 2017 goal is 1O miles running nonstop.

Off the supplements - going clean while we're trying to get pregnant again. Really don't notice any changes to my workouts or building without em'

I bought a new iShuffle and because of using it my treadmill exercise was more enjoyable. Five miles walking, and one mile running with a lot of stopping.

I could walk 10 miles, no problem, but running one mile nonstop seems to be a mental challenge. I've done it before. I worked up to it, and then I did it.

It's time to implement a strategy I haven't used before, but I don't know what that is.

Walk five miles on a treadmill. If I run, I'll decrease my walking distance.

Good work!! After having a pretty rough few weeks I'm back at it again. Awesome shoulders, chest and triceps workout during mid-point of my work day.

Was on vacation last week and didn't work out any. Paying for it this week. Haven't been this sore since I first started. Bright side is that I've hit new records for some things this week: 1RM bench press, squat, and dead lifts. Woo-hoo!

Is this thread going to get repurposed for 2017? I hope so; I enjoy reading about everyone's perseverance even if I don't post.

I don't know if the thread will be repurposed for 2017, but I'm going to keep working out and trying to get in better shape.
