Not to beat a dead horse for those that are on any of the tool forums/Facebook groups but let's hope they're touring in support of a new album as well

Last time I've seen Tool was @ the Bell Centre, Montreal in 2007. Big Business were opening. They kicked ass!!!

I hope they play close to home next year.

Love that there's excitement about this.

Puscifer next month for us and WE CANNOT WAIT.

Of course, welcoming new music from Tool but get it's gotta stew, evolve. The ingredients need to be grown, married. So I give not even a half-shit if it's just all of their prior music. It's always been cathartic and beautiful - visually, aurally, emotionally.

Please pay another visit to this hopeless fucking hole we call LA.

Last time I seen Tool was 1997 at Lolla Korn hit the stage at 5:30 I think snoop was there. Man that was a good show. Where does the time go? Hope they make it to Cbus on this tour.
  • saw tool in the late 90s at the Spectrum, again in '07 bonnaroo... horrible shows. always liked their albums back in the day but horrendous live show in my opinion. couldn't pay me to go to another tool show.

How was it horrible? Are you not a fan of the long jams?
  • hedonisthedonist Posts: 24,524
Surprised to hear that. That someone can belt out words with emotion so beautifully while bent back and forward and in between, in such sync with bandmates, each instrument, and LYRICS and that all-encompassing warm energy.

Dunno, rust...guess you caught them on off nights?
  • might have been early 2000s, not sure... if you call 20+ minutes at a time of noise and alien-like freaks and dildos swinging around all over the stage a "jam" then that's probably it...that was what the show consisted of. sounded like shit. probably played 10-12 songs total. set break longer than the show, or so it seemed.

Yup! Have that as the box set and have yet to watch it. I was able to sneak in my audio recording gear but didn't set up due to rain. I was to the left of the stage about 20 rows up in my bright yellow rain jacket.

Night 2 of Tool @ Red Rocks I luccked out and pulled a single in row 2 right in front of Justin. I caught one of his giant ass bass picks and after the show got the setlist from Danny's drum kit. Great 2 nights! Got the two posters framed together and the first night poster was the limited signed by all 4 band members.

Man! I'm excited for some TOOL!

I will never complain for waiting too long on a new album. You cannot rush art. Fortunately I'm a big enough fan of bands that I can enjoy ALL their catalog.

I remember seeing Tool in Detroit as 1 of 4 warm up shows they chose to play in small venues. This was at the State theatre for all you locals. I have never seen 3000 fans rock so hard.

Well fuck me, has it been that long? They've got other things going on (gonna be doing the anticipatory dance for Puscifer the next several weeks), but really...I'd rather take in the meal made with love and time, all senses engaged...vs the "goddammit they're gonna be here any second, toss this shit into the pot and stir it up".

I think Frank gets it :)

Last I saw/read, it seemed like Maynard hated everything Tool-related. I really don't get what's going on with them. Fulfilling some kind of contractual obligation? If things are going to be that forced and hostile -- either between band members or between band and fans, why bother at all? I ask this as a Tool fan.

Pearl Jam are free to tour whenever they feel like it. They're still my favourite band, but I've never been in a position to go hog-wild seeing them more than once or twice per tour. I don't mind the long gaps between possible live shows. It gives me time to save money. The only thing I mind is when they're in my town and I can't go! (See Toronto 1 and 2 2011!)

Sarah, I just think Maynard is very excited about Puscifer but I can assure you Maynard does not hate Tool.

I could not take Puscifer seriously when I first heard them but just picked up Conditions of my Parole on vinyl and enjoyed it.
