Are we so desperate we are now discussing other bands tour dates on the Porch?

    Umm...it's Tool, man. TOOL.

    Like... yah. Hello?
Hey, I'm a Tool fan as well, I guess we can start a Springsteen tour dates thread here next month too. And hopefully a GNR tour thread as well soon. Both could get announced before PJ dates

Well......PJ was mentioned in the title. Can't fault folks for speaking to their love.

(pretty sure there was a b-day thread for Neil on here recently - with no back-flak!)

It's all good - and fairly inconsequential :)

See you down in Arizona Bay!

Can you imagine if any form of the old school GNR tours. I think it's going to be tough to get tickets. They haven't toured in over 20 years. It's going to be insane. I think the only other band that could eclipse that insanity would be if Zeppelin ever did a tour. A huge rock band that hasn't toured in 35 years....

Hoping it happens, it would be the show to see next year. Zeppelin is the only thing I would look forward too more.

    Just having fun, man!

Tool news is good news (and it does belong in the 'Other Music' thread).

  • 7-20 minute songs aside. 85 minute set lists are a complete fucking joke. Sorry, I expect a little more from Tool.

Love the band. A lot! Their music is killer. But if all I'm gonna get is a dozen songs and just shy of an hour & a half show, I'll find somewhere else to spend $70.

Just out of curiosity what's the going rate for a concert per minute? Does quality affect the price at all?

$70 is two rounds in the bar.

I'd take Tool any day: really cheap considering the awesomeness they have given me to listen to.

Yeah! I guess I can understand feeling shorted (get it?? Maynard's a little fella =) ) but I'm in Thirty's camp.

We've paid around $70 and up to see them. Totally worth every bloody cent!

Wow this is crazy!!!! Saying Tool sucks live is like saying PJ hasn't put out a good record since ten. What Tool does live is very unique.. There show is not about playing the deep track for the fucking crazy fan that has seen them 150 times, or changing the set list every night for the fan that goes to 12 shows in a row every tour. they are a virtuoso quartet that puts on a hard rock symphony every time out.. Pearl Jam has spoiled us, but don't let that get in the way of appreciating what Tool has offered the music world both on record and in there live shows. I've been to 70+ PJ shows because of the uniqueness of every show. But I don't miss Tool when they tour, i'm up to about 10 shows now. There shows are a hour and a half of musical/visual/artistic magic.

I've seen Tool about 4-5 times but not since 2002 or so. They do put on a good intense show. That being said, for one of their shows they played about an hour and 15 minutes and the first 15 or 20 minutes was the beginning of the song H. It was just that little tapping sound. When the song finally kicked in it was incredible, but if you don't count the 15 minute prelude of H., they played about an hour. And the last time I saw them they played about an hour and 20 minutes. Show is definitely good but don't expect anything more than a dozen songs.

  • Quality of the show was fine, it was just too damn short. There is no "per minute going rate" and it has nothing to do with Pearl Jam spoiling me with 3 hour shows and changing setlists. Again, I'd have no problem paying $70 to see a ~2 hour show, tool or anyone. But on stage for less than 90 minutes? Sorry, but I'd like a little more bang for my hard-earned bucks. That's all. No need to dissect it, it's just not financially viable to my wallet.

It was an awesome 85 minutes...just wish there were about 15-25 more.

Tapping sound on H.? Eulogy has more of a tapping sound at the beginning. I'd kill to hear Eulogy live. They haven't played it in a long time.

Struck out again and had to support those that vacuumed up all the tickets. Win some, lose some.

A 15 minute Eulogy opener....Wow, not sure anything else could be any more great than that besides Layne Staley singing Opiate back in the day.... 1 thing that bothers me with Tool is that Undertow songs do not get played enough live these days. That`s basically a perfect album start to finish and is pretty damn Heavy.

I would love to hear Prison Sex live. They haven't played that in awhile, either.
