I could certainly be wrong about the timeline but I'm almost positive they were a full-on "official" 6-piece with a lineup of Axl, Izzy, Slash, Duff, Matt & Dizzy for a year or so.

no, you're right. I checked wikipedia.
This was the promo shot for the Use Your Illusion release, I'm pretty sure it was the first group photo to include Dizzy (I think it's on the inner sleeve too).
1991 me thought this was such a cool photo!

“We obviously think it’s really f****** lame. I love Guns N’ Roses, I think they’re really cool, I’d love to see Slash and Axl and Duff play together, that’s great. But I think it’s f****** lame considering we’ve been hardcore,” he snarls. “Our integrity’s still intact, we’ve never split up. We’ve gone through if someone had a little sniffle or something, we soldier on.”
Collen continued:
“Someone dies, someone loses an arm, someone gets cancer, we soldier on. [With Guns N’ Roses] if someone has a little barney backstage, they can’t deal with each other. I know it’s difficult, but I do think it’s pretty lame when you compare anyone else to us.”
I think it's a stupid point and reeks of jealousy. bands break up all the time. eventually, most of those bands reconcile (with enough time or enough cash, or both). DL aren't better because they managed to stay together. that doesn't make any sense.
Absolutely no way that list is legit! The billboard article last month said they were booking about 20 football stadiums across the country. It also said they were playing the new arena in Vegas well before it was announced. So there is merit to the billboard article. Also the newly announced mexico city date pretty much proves that list is shit.

Im interested to know who's going to drum on these tours. Adler openly acknowledges that Duff and Axl want nothing to do with him because of his continued alcohol issues.
Im glad Slash and Axl put that stuff behind them tho even if its just for the $$$. Such a great combo.
theyre good for rock music. Dangerous and unpredictable. This could be an amazing tour or it could go down in flames. Im excited.
I am with you. For the band this is a chance to pad their 401k, for their long-time fans this is a chance to revisit a past glory, and for fans that are too young to have seen them the first go-around, well this is their chance to see a band that changed rock music and really set things up for the "Seattle/grunge" era to hit.
So, we all win (if you like the band, that is). If you don't like them, then don't go. The band are in their early 50's and most of their fans are in their 30's and 40's; it's nostalgia and there's nothing wrong with that.
I can see Adler and Stradlin doing appearances here and there (L.A., for example), but no way do I see them joining for a full tour. In Adler's case, people aren't goign to stay home because Adler isn't on the drums. Okay, maybe 3 or 5 people. You get a professional to play the drums (I wish it were Sorum), you get a good reliable performance every gig with no headaches, and the same amount of people show up. In Stradlin's case, he tired of touring long ago and is on good terms with the band, but otherwise he prefers to continue recording & releasing his own music and playing the odd gig here & there. Apparently Izzy has been very wise with his GNR money since he left in 1993 (good for him!).
If Eddie Van Halen and David Lee Roth and manage to do a few tours and record a new album, then GnR sure can. I don't know if it's possible for two bandmates to hate each other more than EVH & DLR.

Your basically saying if you like 40-50 year old woman raising their tops while listening to great music..go to a show..I can't wait!
Saw them for Use Your Illusion at MSG in (I think) 1992. Soundgarden warmed up, and I think they were victim of the tendency of the headliner's roadies to mess with the soundboard for the opener so they don't outshine (pun intended) the main act... SG sounded awful that night. Then, GNR were true to form and showed up 2 hours late, but paid the MSG fines and played until about 1am... AWESOME SHOW... one of the better ones I've ever seen. That said...

In 2007, I was so convinced that they wouldn't make it to NY/NJ that I booked a VIP ticket for the first reunion show in NC. Last year was the 8th time I saw EVH & DLR (well... 9th, but the first was Diver Down back in the 80s.) Slash and Axl can make it.
Speaking of VIP, I looked at the Vegas prices (the first shows they're doing... before Cochella) and I think it was $2,500 for the first few rows, and $1,250 for the rest of the first 10 rows. Homie don't play 'dat. Here's hoping it comes down dramatically if they actually announce a full tour. My one fear is that Axl owns the GNR brand, and that he'd still do a "GNR" tour if things fall apart and not give a refund.

No, Phil, Def Leppard is really f****** lame.

I'm not saying it's a good point, but he's got a point.

Seriously, though, why the hell is Phil Collen even weighing in on the relative merits of a GnR semi-reunion, anyway?
