The original lineup never released an original song after Izzy left. He was the main song writer. It's not a reunion with out him. Would love to see him be part of this, if no it's not guns and roses.
It will be the closest thing we've had in 20 years and it will be better than the diaper fire of a band Axl has been trying to pass off as GNR the last 10 years.
the rumors are fun. Heard a few things. One being that Axl is really in shape now. Another about headlining Coachella. And now there's a live clip of them in movie theaters playing before Star Wars
axl was in phenominal shape back in 2006 when I saw him. not sure why people keep thinking (or caring) he has a weight issue.
I'd love to see Izzy. He was GNR's secret weapon and was the most underrated person in the band. But, from everything I've read, the guy is unreliable and has no interest in doing anything like this. He has popped up a few times over the years, but the guy has been living under the radar since he quit GNR. He will probably make a cameo and pop up on stage with them like he has done, but that's it. Maybe I'm wrong, I hope I am, because he's one hell of a songwriter.
I honestly don't see axl and slash making it through an entire tour together - no matter how much money is at stake.
Izzy is unlikely. He did not like the grind of touring when he was young. Why would that have gotten any better. For those being critical, yes this could be a disaster, but would be well worth the risk. Quite frankly the band he put together was great when I saw them a few years ago. No reason to think having Slash or anyone else back wouldn't be stellar. Hope this happens, and quite frankly would probably change my PJ travel plans for the year.
Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.
I saw GNR on 12/5/91 in Worcester. Izzy was gone by then. Ironically the opening act was Soundgarden and that began my indonctrination into 90's music.

They were almost like a comet. Came out, kicked ass, and burned out. It's exciting to see this happening again.
Everyone wants rock stars to be dangerous but then they turn on them and insult them for it. This could go great. It could be awful. It will definitely feel dangerous tho.

I think the main reason he quit was he was trying to stay clean, while the rest of the band was still whooping it up, especially Slash and Duff. He travelled seperately, had no contact with them except during the shows, etc. that would have been rough.
but he seems to enjoy the no spotlight thing too. he puts out his own records on itunes every once in a while and that's about it.
alternativenation.net is reporting that the band will announce the tour on Jimmy Kimmel on Jan 6th. Interesting to note that Matt Sorum is scheduled for Seth Myers on Jan 4 and 5th.
im glad they are getting back together hopefully they tour too would love to go see them was a great fan in my teen years and tubby is better than a skinny stick that looks like a moody low life junkie even if some unfortunately get roped into it
As long as Axl gets himself into good shape and doesn't drink or smoke as much, it's a start for a possible large tour. Hopefully he can deliver 2.5-3 hour shows each night of a tour and eliminate the moaning that led to four song shoes too.

Hes been doing 3 hour sets for the last ten years so he's used to that. I think its just getting his voice into a comfortable place. Some nights he's like the CD. Other nights its a cat getting strangled.

The main things that I'm wanting if this tour happens is Axl to not walk off the stage after three songs like an angry four year old girl and drink/smoke like he did during the Metallica/Guns tour in the early 1990s.

I've read that Guns N' Roses are asking for up to $3 million per show and they'll get it. But for that kind of payday, I'd imagine that the contract for each show would stipulate things like the concert starting on time and lasting a certain amount of time or the band would be financially penalized. If Axl realizes that a late start or early exit will cost him and the band $1 million (or however much) he'll think twice. Man, I can't wait for these shows!
My favorite lineup was the UYI lineup and appetite lineup second (though I prefer appatite to UYI). Izzy was their secret weapon and it sucks that the rumors indicate he won't be a part of the reunion. I am sure it's his choice though. I watched this show and its definetly worth watching. It is the new lineup (who I saw several times), but they definetly put on a decent show. Izzy plays a number of songs with them, including 14 years. http://youtu.be/Rpzn_fK7SsM

Great vid - I'm with you in that I prefer the UYI lineup. When I played guitar in my high school rock bands it was always Izzy I tried to emulate, haha, sad but true! In playing style I mean.

in 2006 in Winnipeg, he was in top form, and even was awesome to the crowd. some douche threw something on stage, Axl didn't even stop singing, he ran over to the item, picked it up, and calmly tossed it to one of the roadies. I couldn't believe it.
well he's not fat. he's just not the rail he was when he was 22. come on. the guy is 50. you expect him to still have the body of a 12 year old girl?
Thank you for saying this… Geez, does he not have the right to age just like the rest of us? People around here are a trip sometimes….
Well middle aged weight gain is normal for most folks, but its a stretch to say he isnt fat. Plenty of others his age who have maintained a better shape than round

Sounds like that new arena is shelling out the big bucks to get bands to come play there. Means PJ will be playing there for sure then!
