Tampa shows are hit and miss. They have family there so they are typically in a good mood. At the same time, Tampa is a military town and tends to go Republican. So if it turns into a political show, it can get ugly. I think that happened on the Riot Act tour.

Then again if you read their book, they mentioned one of the Tampa shows was one of the best they ever had.

I still predict Miami will be the craziest and Jax will be something special.

Is it safe to assume anything close to beach is going to be super expensive in April? I'm sure it is. So people that are really familiar with these 2 areas (Ft Lauderdale and Miami) think better to stay in Miami and figure out a way to BB&T, than the reverse?

How about along the beach between the two?

Jacksonville will be great! I stay at Amelia Island 30 minutes away. It's pretty awesome. Quiet, great beach, great food.

There are tons of hotels up and down the beach. If I were coming down, I'd probably stay nearer to the Miami show. Reasons:

    1. Ft Lauderdale show is near a mall and the swamp. Not the beach. Not much to do if you don't have a car.

    2. If you stay on South Beach (may be a little more expensive) you have the beach and a lot of clubs, bars, etc... in walking distance.

I'd rent a car if possible. The two arenas are about an hour apart but traffic can be unpredictable. And these are weekend shows during Spring Break although Spring Break isn't like it was in the 80's.

I read the posts from the first page and was disappointed with the either lack of knowledge about Jacksonville or the Florida bias in general. Maybe some of the "opinions" were corrected/retracted in the following pages (I saw the post about the Jax Arena being new). Country music and classic rock bands tend do well (that someone would think there'd be available seats at the Jax show was nothing short of ridiculous). The Arena is across the street from our minor league baseball stadium and on concert days the pub beside the Arena is jumping. You should see any number of food trucks for the show (very popular down here) and hopefully many vendors selling our great local brews. The acoustics of the Arena are better than average (sorry we don't have banners

When Ed played solo shows in Jacksonville in 2012, the audiences were very enthusiastic.

Those shows were loud and WELL attended. One of the best date nights with my wife ever.

We invade Jville every April for the Rockville Festival. This town absolutely knows how to rock.

If I wasn't going to Rockville 2 weeks later,I would add the Jax show to my tour stops.People always hate on us here in FL.they are just jelly we live in such an awesome state.Stay at the Hyatt or Omni and walk to arena would be my Jville play.

The Jax show was the easiest of the four to get.

With that said, I still think Jax will be the best of the four. It's the first time PJ is playing there and it's a relatively small arena.

I'm not sure if they let you sleep out there. They tend to lock the gates around the arena.

Florida in general is a bad concert market (just like its a bad sports market). There should be plenty of seats for all 4 shows! That being said, I hope to make it down for Miami and Ft. Lauderdale as my folks live in the Florida Keys and April is a decent time to visit before it gets too hot.

The South American contingent will make good seats in MIA hard to come by imo.....

How can we know the arena policy about camping out?

I love hollywood beach, it is not as posh as south beach or FTL beach... parts are a bit rundown but over all just as safe as anywhere else in South Florida... Just make sure you read the reviews! ;)
