Any advice on a reasonably priced hotel to stay at for both the Ft Lauderdale and Miami shows that is perhaps somewhere in between? Flying into FLL and it seems kind of silly to switch hotels between the two shows, but don't want to be completely out of the way for both nights either. Renting a car is a given as we will likely head down to Key West for a couple of days after the Miami show. Never been to FL before, so any advice on the area is welcome. Thanks!

It's been a long time since I lived down there but isn't key west like a 7 hour drive from Miami? Hope you realize that before you go.

Google maps said like 3.5-4 hours? If it's 7, eff that.
It will take you at least two hours to go from the top of the keys all the way to the bottom of the keys (Key West). And it's Spring Break so it may take you 4 hours. That's just the Keys. Miami is obviously North of that.

Go to South Beach in Miami. Easier to get to than Key West and it's just as famous.

    2nd or 3rd show.....

    Miami or Tampa!
It won't be tampa. I was at the 08 show. Lamest crowd ever!!!
I've been to 22 shows. This was the worst by far.

Made the drive from Fort Lauderdale to Key West last February in under 4 hours with a stop for gas. Left early on a Friday with little or no trafffic.

    Going to Tampa :) (hopefully)
I've always had a great time there! I've never seen them anywhere else other than Tampa shows and Kissimee and the EV solo in Clearwater. Well, At least the fans in the area I was near were really fun and nice

I didn't see them in Tampa in 08, but the 2000 and 2003 shows were incredible

I'll be representing all 4 FL shows! Lotto I put in Jacksonville GA, Tampa GA, Miami reserved.

Totally just wondering but why does everyone think Jacksonville will be special? I mean I hope so lol. Because it's on a Wednesday?

    Important safety tip while driving.

Sometimes you will be driving in South Florida and it will look like no one is driving the car. Don't worry, this is our elder residents. If you look closely, you may see some knuckles on the top of the steering wheel. They are looking through the wheel. Please treat these residents with respect. They have a lot of knowledge to share with us.

One time, not too long ago... I was driving in Naples. I was on the standard 4 lane highway with a 50 mph speed limit which is what SW Florida is like. This elderly person just stops... literally STOPS right while driving, and pulls out a map to read it. I was floored. I'm in FL 20x a year and can't stand

    1. They've never played there
    2. Smallest of the four arenas
    3. Not as popular as the other locations

I think PJ will do something special there and they will be warmed up being the 4th show of the tour.

I'm thinking reserved seats will be a near slam-dunk, GA will be the 50/50 chance!!

These should be some great shows to kick off Spring and the tour!!
You think reserved seating will be a slam dunk with odds around 60% for Miami & Ft. Lauderdale?

How many people that win GA for a show have that as 1st choice, and then reserved as their 2nd choice?

A ton of reserved seat choices will be negated when GA's are won!

I was thinking the same thing regarding the GA winners being removed and increasing the reserved odds. I really hope it works out like that. Entered for both MIA and Ft. Laud. Just want to get in the door.

Entered for Jax and Miami. Working on a pre-party in San Marco for the show. Take over Aardwolf Brewery and perhaps get a collab beer from Grasslands Brewery just for that day.

If flying in I recommend using Ft.Lauderdale airport not Miami. If going to both shows stay by the water in either Lauderdale or Miami.Everything is always around 20 -30 min away.Nothing out in the swamp out by BBand T really walking friendly anyway.
For example,if you stay in downtown Miami or south beach you just need to schlep up to bbandt for Friday night. But you would have all day to play sat and Sunday. You can get a great breakfast on a sidewalk table out in front of the Art Deco hotels in south beach.great scenery as well.

Completely agree. I was going to post something similar.
Getting out of BB&T is a breeze compared to the AAA.
Luckily, I live down here. But if I were traveling in, I would prefer to stay closer to the second show (Miami). Tons of rooms on South Beach, and with Easter being a bit earlier this year, hopefully a lot of the tourists and snowbirds will have left town a week before the concerts. Not sure why, but it always seems like Easter is when people head back home (I work in a snowbird heavy job, so it's very noticeable when they leave).

    Bingo!!!
South Beach or bust. I'm already booked in at The Stanton on Ocean/5th Thurs-Mon.
Stayed there twice last winter for work 18 days. Never got to sit out at the oceanfront pool or on the beach. Left every day before sunrise and got back after dark. Can't wait to actually chill at that hotel!
It's in the lower quieter portion of SB and has many great places to eat and drink.
Walk to Joes Stone Crab, Prime Fish Prime Steak..... Etc.
Or Short Uber to Yardbird Southern or Strip Steak in the Fountain Blue.

Would love to meet some PJ fans at the pool bar.

Pricey hotel but I have it covered free with MARRIOT reward points.

My wife and I plan on staying in South Beach as well. Can anyone recommend the better parts(good restaurants walking distance) of south beach to stay? We plan on using airbnb since we are going to stay a week.
I'm getting a little worried the Miami and Ftl shows for reserved are around 60%.

For those staying on South Beach and want a little PJ history, there is a club called The Cameo down there (I think it still exists). It was an old movie theatre turned into a rock club. I saw tons of bands there when I was growing up and this is where PJ first played South Florida. Ed got a sunburn and later that night jumped into the crowd. OOOOUUUUUCHHHHHHH. You can find the show on Youtube.
