Took a 2 week break from this thread just to see if anything would change. Sad to see more of the same.

i havent taken that long a break, but every time im away for a few hours and see 25 new posts and its just the same people saying things like "i hope they play this show because its my birthday" and "anyone know how to get tickets through the lottery", with absolutely no new info, i always wind up disappointed. I should stop checking but I can't.

i cant wait to see the GA line for MSG

I wonder if those showing up 24, 48, or even 72 hours before the show will create a GA list?

Want to be in line- stay in line!!!!
you mean i can't have my name jotted down in a notebook, go have a nice dinner, then come back 10 minutes before doors open and expect the seas to part for me?

    that's an outrage!!
They did away with General Admission pits for several years. No waiting outside venues for hours and hours. I think it was done for safety.

I think as long as you have facebook, twitter, or instagram, you'll get the update about an announcement. It's been years since I've actually first gotten news from this message board. The band themselves may not post it on another social media platform, but fans usually do it in about 2 seconds.

Heard rumblings of a Columbus show. Called nationwide arena and schottenstein center. Nationwide hadn't heard anything about a pj show. Schott said they can't confirm anything until it's official and to keep checking their website. Interesting!

It is unfair to go on a list and be able to disappear for a long period of time, I get that. What I think is also equally unfair or worse is when you don't have a list, and when you have a group of people and one person holding the line and they all join them after you have arrived, and they all go in before you!

A numbered list helps prevent that from happening. Neither system is perfect, they each have flaws and a subjective nature to them. When people are sleeping out more than 24hrs in advance you would guess going to take a piss should be permissible, but going back to your hotel for a 4 hour nap should not. How about making a food run?

What are the rules? There aren't any I know of...If anybody has a list of the "Pearl Jam GA Line waiting" rule etiquette they want to share, and have all agreed upon sanctioned by the band I am not aware of it.

The perfect system is to abolish both the list and the ability to hold a spot for friends. In my opinion, you're there or you're not.

exactly. if you want to make the sacrifices necessary to wait on a line for hours, you deserve the best spots on the floor. if you don't, you don't.

The ideal.thing would be for the club to control this if they insist on GA. Until the club handles it, it will be different sensibilities of whats "fair" and what isnt. Give a random number with the wrist band and people can line up at a specified time around when doors open. There has to be other bands who have conquered this issue by now.

I am all for bringing back seated shows. At least mix in some amphitheater shows with arena shows. That is a whole different argument though!

I happen to love GA. The energy is amazing in the "pit". I get in line about an hour before the show, grab a beer and still end up 5-9 back on mikes side. No pushing or shoving, just rockin out with fellow fans. Hope they never get rid of GA.

They won't. Been a huge membership $ boon. I just remember they didn't do GA for years because of safety.

Any idea why? They've played Nationwide, a superior venue IMO, in the past. Surely it can't be CBJ playoff hopes. Either way, I'd take it!

Haha! And some claim to even know all the reasons the band changed back to it (even though they don't). It's hilarious really.

Ohio State now manages BOTH facilities in Columbus...and try to spread the shows around.
That's also why we are seeing more shows scheduled at The Shoe now...I've heard they are trying to book U2 there this year!!

its not really people getting mad, but this thread has turned into literally the same 3 or 4 conversations being had over and over again, and in all that, maybe 2 pages worth of total posts that are actually useful.
