Me either I don't think. High order number. I am really hopeful they do the right thing here and don't just send a "Dear John, you're screwed" email. Should at least allow us to purchase a regular or something like that.
But that would mess with the people who bought a limited edition of 130 if they suddenly upped the print run of the regular AP, right?

That was my thoughts. This would screw up all the print runs. I'd say offer a non-AP/show version of the print for the $35-50 or whatever the cost, and refund the rest of the money.

They would have to run the printing presses again. They would have to call it another alternate version. Maybe a Version 2 name.
In the end Ames wins because they sold a ton of posters...

yes bottom line more prints sold likely. I doubt they did this on purpose.. but id guess the end result will be a handful (20-30) of Gold will get distributed.
confirmed orders of gold outside the handful will get the opportunity to purchase an additional variant type for a dollar amount lesser than the $250.
If they were really cool and concerned about their integrity and business practices anyone with a confirmed order that doesnt get a gold edition should get a print for the shipping cost only.
See what happens.

Damn, they really should give people the option to cancel then if they want. PJ collectors are big into limited items, you cant say eh, a handful, then ah maybe a hundred plus.

If they had tried to sell anything for $250 that was effectively not limited then nobody would have purchased them. OK, so some money - and we will never know how much - goes to charity, which is great, but I feel like I have been ripped off unless they actually state the number of golds that were sold at that the number is less than any of the other versions.

If they are just going to put the orders through, and not disclose how many they are going to produce they should give people the option to cancel. Its cool they are giving proceeds to charity, but really, it does not seem like a great compromise. If someone wants to give to charity, they can do that themselves. We don't need to be sold extremely overpriced prints to feel good. PJ collectors are very particular about pressing/printing/production numbers.

As I said, they need to let people know how many were printed and give people the option for a refund. If not, it is fraud.
Fraud might be a stretch, but I get where you are coming from.

It's not right--their error being fixed by gouging customers and then 'solving' issue by forced charitable contribution? Im tempted to file a PayPal chargeback. That's straight up misleading and wrong.
Is there any chance these have a lower printing number than chrome or the standard? I saw that the delivery time was 3-4 weeks, which leads me to believe they havent been printed yet.

So lots of people overpaid for a handful of prints and now they aren't a handful but a ton of prints? They made me donate "involuntarily"?
I emailed asking the cancellation process.
I just did that too, I asked for a refund.
If they are going to mass produce them, then don't charge people to "limited" item price. The premium price. Charge us the same price as the show version that is more mass-produced. Let us decide if we want to give more to charity.
If you purchased a piece of artwork primarily for it's exclusivity, then you probably shouldn't have purchased it in the first place. Isn't the mindset when purchasing art: "I really like that artwork!".... instead of: "the artwork lacks originality, but it's really limited, so take my $200+" ? * With that being said, I hope each of you get the outcome you desire.
They should throw in extra show edition for free. This is messed up. I would rather have had them fuck up the orders for the chrome. I liked that one much better. Please let me know about the cancellation process. What a racket. Why were the other editions fine without a glitch. Sold out meant sold out for those. I tried for the chrome first and it was sold out by 7:02 or something. We've been duped...

Has anyone asked them what the run is limited to since they just emailed out?

I asked for a refund. I tend to not be overly negative, or so I think, but this doesn't feel right, and how do we know they will actually donate any money? They could sell 500 of these at $250 and then donate $100.
10c is probably like thank god this isnt something we are taking heat for ha ha

You should reply to them with that.
Did they even apologize in the original email?
