Did you buy it because you liked it? Or did you buy it because you thought it was more limited?
If the former, then awesome! You're getting the kickass poster that you wanted. If the latter, then maybe the lesson there is don't spend $250 on something you don't really like or want just because it's still available.
I'm saying this as someone who has yet to learn this lesson.
I don't think it's dirty. I just think not numbering it makes it less valuable, so they shouldn't not number the highest priced variant. I take full ownership of paying way too much for something with less perceived value than the other two releases. I clearly haven't learned my lesson either but I think I'm getting better as each year passes!
Attagirl!
I'm getting there, too. I hope.
Maybe in 10 years, I can get myself to only "need" stickers
Woke up this morning and my credit card transaction for the Gold poster went through completely so I guess I got one... Last night I just had a paypal receipt but showed up on the CC today

any additional info on the Gold poster? I also bought a gold. I clicked on it not realizing the price and decided to buy based on only a handful made. Would never sell, possibly trade but would never pay 250+ for a poster with a large run.....
Anything bigger than a handful, you're risking a sprained tongue.
I wouldn't think that poster ink tastes very good

This exactly. ***only a handful*** as the description is misleading if the run is as large as it appears based on EBAY flippers only.

I wonder if the pricing is just catching up to the market. Artists see these $30 posters being flipped for $100, why not just sell them for that?
It makes buying the poster initially higher cost, but can kill the flipping market. Reduce the margins of the middle man and it won't be worth it. Putting up $30 to get $130 ($100 profit) is well worth the small investment and large profit margin. Putting up $100 to get $130 ($30 profit) isn't worth the time spent buying the poster and time spent selling it with the large up front cost. Obviously made up costs but not far off.
At some point people will get sick of paying insane prices for posters and just stop collecting. If I can't get an event poster I've attended at the event or through 10c I'm probably going to stop my streak of collecting events I've attended (12 posters and hopefully counting) because the cost just isn't worth it.
It's to the point where I've debated selling my whole collection off just so I don't feel like I "have to" have the print from every show I attend. It's literally an added cost to attending a show at this point. If I didn't luck out and get the Milwaukee print from the last tour through 10c sale, I might have already done so. I still might.
Just wondering, has anyone gotten a response when you've emailed help @ ames? I emailed them about the Foos Wrigley poster, I had a similar experience with the transformers sale. I was able to add to my cart, enter my information and once I went to confirm my purchase I got the inventory issue message and that the poster had sold out. I emailed ames and asked about this, I mean it's only a poster and I wanted the chrome or gold variant I'm not even going to the show. I am just wondering if they ever respond to the emails? I never heard from them after the Foos Wrigley print either
I know I'm out of luck via Ames, hopefully I can get what I want at a reasonable price once these are available on the secondary market.

I have emailed Ames twice in the past, they have responded both times.
Heck, if you want a speedier response, just pick up the phone and call them. Their phone number is public and I believe it is on their website. I know it is on emails from them.

That happened to everyone who tried unsuccessfully.
I figured as much, its not the end of the world. I was just checking to make sure no charges appeared since I never got a confirmation email but entered my info. Good to know they do reply
Thanks!

Just some random thoughts on this Friday morning!
I would argue that a $100 profit isn't worth the hassle either. I've never understood the flipping mentality, seems like a lot of work for what it's worth. But I guess that's pretty subjective.
I called Ames and they are working on something. Person i spoke to declined to comment to me but said an email outlining the situation with the Gold editions would be forthcoming.

This is my first time ordering through them has anyone gotten refund emails with the regular ones? Mine says unfulfilled as of this moment don't know if that's normal or not
So, assuming they release the print size, and they offer the option to cancel, who would, who wouldn't, and what would it take for you to make your decision?
of course this is just a fun speculation until they announce what is happening.

There was a technical issue with the online sale of this item which we are actively working to resolve. Please hang tight as we sort it out. If there is an issue with your particular order, we will communicate with you through email. Thank you for your continued patience and support.
Should give everyone $100 off and print the orders they took Or Conduct a lottery of all who ordered against the actual planned print
And then, those who don't get one in the lottery should get a chance to purchase the normal edition. Then I think no one could complain.

I like this idea. I'm not as necessarily concerned with how rare the poster is/print run. I just think the gold is cool and would pop nicely when hung on the wall.
Me either I don't think. High order number. I am really hopeful they do the right thing here and don't just send a "Dear John, you're screwed" email. Should at least allow us to purchase a regular or something like that.
Well at least people know they actually made a mistake, instead of marketing it as a "handful" available and there were 300 bought. That would be deceitful. It's going to suck for those who get their order cancelled but hopefully they do the right thing with the scarcity of it in comparison to the other 2 options that cost less.
You never know. But I'm dreading checking my email now!
