A really shitty place.Dead Man Walking said:So everyone likes the gold variant one if it's limited to a low number, but if its run is increased and the additional money goes to charity then everyone wants a refund?
Where am I?0 -
What's funny is people are going to gamble on how many of these were actually printed and who cancelled.
There will be more gamblers than cancels...0 -
If as many cancel as it seems from reading here they will this could end up a print with a run of a handful !!0

Want to add this to the thread..there was a thread at official facebook ten club members about t
prices of posters when artist sale at their websites..alot complain or said its very expensive the transformers ones..someone mention Don Pendleton and said he will not do the same when his posters go on sale
This is the 2 comment of Don Pendleton to the conversation.
1.
"I appreciate the vote of confidence...Value vs. price is a tough thing to manage as an artist. I try my best to be fair where pricing is involved but I have a publisher that sells my prints and I'm obligated to maintain a certain level of value, both for collector's sake and for the sake of those who sell my work.
The first print I ever did in 2000 sold for $55, signed and numbered, an edition of 50. I've spent a lot of time trying to build the value of my work over those 15 years…like other artists, I've taken chances and risks to be able to do it full time.
So while there has to be a balance, like with every other career, there has to be some kind of return. This is all I do…painting and occasional freelance work. I don't have any steady income, I only do 3-4 prints per year and so all of that factors in.
I realize most who buy this one (and other PJ prints) do so because of the association with the band only. And I'm cool with that. It's just the desire to be fair vs. maintaining a certain established price that can make it difficult.
So that's the long and short of it…at this point, after struggling for years to get solo shows, I've had a solo museum exhibit, there's been a grammy now…I think anyone who has been doing the same job for 20+ years would agree that if you are making the same amount now that you did when you started, it would be pretty disappointing on a professional level.
I'm not sure when I'll receive my prints but before I set a price, I want to be able to physically look at the quality of the printing and the paper and it'll be a price that is consistent with my other work.
It's a releveant conversation to have and I'm glad that it gets discussed."
2.
It's absolutely a fair question to ask by collectors and fans…and I think artist's should address it when it comes up so again, I appreciate you bringing my name into the discussion.""...Dimitri...He talks to me...'.."The Ghost of Greece..".
"..That's One Happy Fuckin Ghost.."
“..That came up on the Pillow Case...This is for the Greek, With Our Apologies.....”0 -
I don't know why people are so shocked that people are unhappy that it's a larger print run than expected. This is why art prints are numbered in the first place! Those who went for gold paid a premium for the exclusivity of that edition, now that isn't the case they have every right to a full refund, I know I would have.
Very poor by Ames to let this happen and provide this 'solution' IMO. They should now let people know how many orders there were and offer a refund to all involved.'F*** the pessimists. F*** 'em.' Eddie Vedder0 -
DP comes across as a top notch artist
To be honest I don't know how anyone can justify charging $250 right off the bat. It's ripping off the folks who really want that piece for their wall, to combat those who are buying purely to flip.
I get that the balance is difficult and I get the notion it's better the artist benefits than anyone else but $250 for a piece that hasn't yet entered the market - the starting price is IMO very very high. Of course enough people jumped on it to justify the pricing but it doesn't take away from the underlying issue of how much is enough ?
130 at $100
85 at $200
And god knows how many at $250
The merch environment is so hyped the fans were always going to get taken advantage of. And here it starts.
But then who can fault someone for cashing in on demand ... That is after all the society we live in.
Just seemed an absolute cash grab.0 -
I hope they come out really really nice for those who did buy...0

Email Ames and request a refund as well as open a dispute with PayPal in their Resolution Center. Figured it cannot hurt to do both as this was beyond misleading and both a bad business decision and a poor customer service experience. The customer in the end should always feel good about their purchasing experience and not be mislead on what exactly they are purchasing (especially when it comes to collectibles and $250)0

Hmmm.... Not sure how I feel about this one. I'm all for my money going to charity, but would feel better if I paid $100 instead of $250...
An appropriate solution would have been:
Tell us how many were printed
Refund us $150 each (so we spend $100 on each one)
Ames donates $50 of each poster sold to vitalogy, keeps $50
I just think it's too expensive of an item for them to be like "whoops, sorry, well atleast your money is going to charity"2010: Cleveland

Guys, based on order numbers posted, there were less than 300 total orders across all versions. 130 regular. 85 chrome. That means less than 85 gold. Relax. It's still rare.0
-
The upshot is maybe Ames do take note of the serial numbers that go out and watch out for flippers. It's certainly possible ....0

NO ONE was upset that it was $250 to begin with?
I agree that you shouldn't be charged demand price for a surplus commodity, but my immediate reaction when I went to Ames site at the on-sale time and saw $250 was "fuck that, I'm out!" Hell, $100 for the standard edition was too damn much!Star Lake 00 / Pittsburgh 03 / State College 03 / Bristow 03 / Cleveland 06 / Camden II 06 / DC 08 / Pittsburgh 13 / Baltimore 13 / Charlottesville 13 / Cincinnati 14 / St. Paul 14 / Hampton 16 / Wrigley I 16 / Wrigley II 16 / Baltimore 20 / Camden 22 / Baltimore 24 / Raleigh I 25 / Raleigh II 25 / Pittsburgh I 250 -
If you did not score a Transformer print at the pop up shop and really want one you are going to have to pay $200 plus for the regular edition now on ebay or who are we kidding, on Lost Dogs also to get one. You might as well keep the Gold One for $250. At least then some of the cash goes to a good cause and not somebody flipping it. I will be keeping my order for the Gold. With that said I hope everyone else cancels so I will end up with 1 of 1. Lol.0

Don't forget 10c should have their sale of the show edition most likely on 10/10 (just a guess)leach7 said:If you did not score a Transformer print at the pop up shop and really want one you are going to have to pay $200 plus for the regular edition now on ebay or who are we kidding, on Lost Dogs also to get one. Mine is based on facts - the posted order numbers. You really can't argue with that.pdalowsky said:

That's just the order numbers that people posted on this forum, though. Not everyone who buys from Ames posts on the 10C forum.CopperTom said:
