    Where did people learn (shed-you-ul)?

    They must have been taught that in shool.

    Actually that is correct, in The UK. We stole it from them.. Therefor, shed u le is correct.

  • How about sportscaster saying out with a knee to imply a player wont be playing that day. Last I checked the vast majority of people 'have a knee'. Say 'out with a hurt knee' for gods sake.

    We have a thing at work called an "Alliance Program." Basically what it is, is our customers (resellers) invest only in our products and don't offer similar products from our competitors in their stores. Now, any time we have any type of corporate communications, whoever writes or speaks about it always says "our aligned customers" and it drives me fucking bananas! It should be "our allied customers."

    Alliance = allied
    Alignment = aligned

    I am guilty of one myself. Until the age of 25 or so, I'd only ever seen the macabre on paper, and had never heard it said out loud. So I decided to say it out loud... and said "mack-a-burr". Very embarrassing. Finally someone corrected me (while laughing at me).

    This has happened to me so many times, with so many words, I've stopped giving a shit.

    crick...when people say, "I took a walk by the crick"

    WTF?!!??!?!?

    Dictionary says:
    noun
    1.
    a sharp, painful spasm of the muscles, as of the neck or back.
    verb (used with object)
    2.
    to give a crick or wrench to (the neck, back, etc.)
    The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.

    ^^^ thank gawd! I hear so many people say that (generally they are from small towns) and it drives me bonkers! Thought I was the only one...

    I used to say 'coo-pin'...just to annoy my manager. One day she was going on about loving being called redneck (but don't call her trailer trash-dontaskmewhy). So I teased her about going to Wal-Mart with all her coo-pins.

    I have a friend who says "ax" instead of "ask," as in: "I ax him what he was doing."
    Makes my eyes twitch every time she says it.

    My last name... four simple letters... easy to say.

    90% of the time I get Dwyer or Dryer. Aggravates the living piss out of me! I don't understand why it's so difficult to get it correct.
