Sydney 3 in 2006 may still be my favourite show that I've attended.. great crowd, Ed and band in great spirits, awesome highlight with a young kid being brought up on stage.. I wonder if you mean Sydney 2, which was probably the worst I've been to - crowd's fault entirely.
Poor crowd participation also hindered most of the shows I saw in Oz in 2003 (Melb1 and Syd1 probably the worst). It picked up for 2006 though.
Oops, my bad. I did mean Sydney 2. I am starting to get them confused, I have been to a few.dimitrispearljam wrote:AmyMoore wrote:

The band played great, but the other variables of the day made it not a good show.
There really is no objective criteria to judge a show, it's only someone's subjective opinion of it.
Someone earlier mentioned Hartford 98. It sucked when security sprayed us with pepper spray, but I thought it was a good show, so I didn't include it on my list.0 -

I believe it was something like "EVEN Boise was better than you".
Makes the quote a bit different....
I was at both shows. Ended up hitting about six that tour. Boise was WAY better for whatever reason. The crowd was so much more into it and the band fed off of it. Thinking back I remember the Seattle security was tight and strict that night which may have lead to stifling the crowd a bit. Also, my expectations for Boise were not as high as those for Seattle -- all that aside, Boise was awesome. I believe Ed did blame Stone for screwing up the scheduling in the past as the reason they had missed playing Boise beforeSafe to say that if Ed is blaming stone for things -- Ed is in a good mood.

Manchester 2009.
The show was ok... The crowd were horrible.Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...
... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.0 -
Yeah, Manchester '09 would be my least favourite of the ones I've been to.
NovaRock in '07 was pretty meh - the setlist was quite standard as PJ setlists go0 -
Albany '03 was by far the most mediocre show I've been to.0

After 300 shows, I don't know what it is, but it definitely didn't happen in Berlin, at least for me (this year; 2000 was great! If my memory serves me correctly the Wash umbrella made its debut there). It was a great setlist, the band played great, the crowd sang along, but it didn't have the je ne sais quoi.
Salt Lake, LA4 and Philly 3 in my opinion were the best of the tour that I saw.
And since people have been talking about it Boise 2000 was an awesome show. One of my all time favorite Spins.0 -

Amy, Were you at every show (~28) from Berlin through Pittsburgh with the umbrella?0 -
It was my friend Olivier that had the umbrella in Europe. It was left in Hamburg, but then mysteriously made its way to Stockholm.
I bought an umbrella because it was going to rain during the Jones Beach shows, so I thought I would copy Olivier's idea. I had it from then on.0 -

I was at Chicago '03... I remember Ed having a cold (blowing his nose occasionally), but I don't recall this being a bad show. Actually, I've never walked away disappointed when Pearl Jam has headlined a show. For me, I think so much of the Pearl Jam experience depends on Ed. If his vocals are strong and tight and he's in a good mood and not forgetting lyrics, it's going to be a good night!
St. Paul (Night 2) 2006 opening for Petty... I remember Mike having guitar issues (actually wasn't working during "Marker in the Sand") which led to Ed getting pissed and slamming a guitar stand because things weren't going right. That kind of put a damper on the middle part of the show.1998: 6/26, 6/27, 6/29

I agree with whoever said Vegas 06 and Seattle 1 09, I'd even add Chicago 1 09. Seattle and Chicago's second shows in 09 make my top 10 ever btw.
I was at Chicago 1 2009, so maybe I'm biased. I thought both Chicago shows from 2009 were very good. Eddie said something along the lines of having "a lot of emotions to get through" that night. "Long Road", "Come Back", "Love, Reign O'er Me", "The Real Me", "Needle and the Damage Done", etc.
It's like somebody else said, this is sooooo subjective. I had dynamite seats for Chicago 1 2009 and this is the first time I got my girlfriend up close so she was enjoying the hell out of it. Everybody's criteria is different.1998: 6/26, 6/27, 6/29

I would agree with most of the complaints about the Camden shows, having been to every one they have played there. The 2008 shows seemed particularly lackluster...I thought they were great there in 2000. Best 2 nights I've seen. Maybe the lack of new material/any particular point to the 2008 tour made me not enjoy as much...I really wish they would have stayed at home and recorded another record instead of touring in 2008.0

Seattle 1 on the backspacer tour..."Well, I think this band is incapable of sucking."

Alright, I've seen Pearl Jam 14 times since 1998.
The worst show I went to was October 30, 2000 at the Sacramento Valley Amphitheatre outside Sacramento, California.
Our seats were about a mile and a half away from the stage and it was way too fucking cold. Other than that, the show was great!
And you asked how many bootlegs do I have, I'm gonna estimate around 70-80.Fan of singer songwriters who push musical boundaries?
You need to hear this new artist!

Poland 07 was short, band weren't on at all, but had no problems with the crowd since I got an inkling of what it'd be like and stayed well away from the front.
Sydney 2 2006 was truly meh. More so than the 3 in 2003. Anyone who thinks the crowd doesn't matter doesn't get how much the band can feed off from the crowd, to give a better performance. Seattle 1 09 was also meh, but not nearly as much as Sydney 2 06.
I got my head repeatedly kicked in by a dickhead in Manchester 09, and wearing that costume in the extreme heat nearly made me faint from dehydration by the end of the show, but I still really enjoyed it.
Werchter 07 wasn't very enjoyable cos I was pretty sick, but nothing much wrong with the performance itself. The nicest festival I've ever been to, shame health got in the way.
Sydney 2006 is my worst. Might've been Poland if I bothered to go up front.115 bucks for half a haircut by a novice? I want my money back!0 -
barcelona 06 was the only dissapointing show ive been to mainly due to the crap venue with crap security, crap concessions and being too fucking hot.

I find it hard to believe that the first Chicago show from last year has gotten mentions in here. The band wore their hearts on their sleeves that night. I certainly don't think the performance was lacking in any way.0
