It was actually my first show: April 22, 1992 at Jannus Landing -- St. Pete. Epic energy and Eddie pulled some monkey stunts, but the band could not keep it together and Eddie's voice was shot. Awesome to see them for the first time in that type of venue and to be there with all the early fans, but the musicianship was just muddled that night.

Totally made up for it a few months later at Lollapalooza -- Orange County Fairgrounds.

You can pick any show, not just ones you've been to.

It's a tough call because I don't hang onto bootlegs which have poor sound quality and/or setlists. Just checking out of the shows I have on my iPod, I'd have to say it's Boise - 2000/11/03.

There's nothing really wrong with it, it just doesn't have anything real significance about it. Well, other than my favorite alternate lyric for Spin the Black Circle - instead of "Oh my joy, only you deserve conceit", it's "I fucking hate CDs".

I hope this has been done to death. To help boost the thread, also list how many bootlegs you have.

I have 25 bootlegs, I think about 11 or 12 offical ones. I also have a bunch more waiting on my external hard drive, but I have to burn those to CD first (no, I am not pirating the offical bootlegs).

I didnt go to Boise Show, but i have the bootleg, I thought it was a great show within that tour... Ive seen 34 and have about 600 others on dvd/cd/mp3 the worst show ive ever been too out of my 34 was my 1st show, HARTFORD 98 impossible to folllow MSG 2 nights prior... had a great time and loved it at the time... 15 yrs later I think its worst I saw... Jones Beach 1 2000 is probably worst show ive heard between set list band mood and crowd...

I've seen them a bunch of times and yes, some of them were not as great for sure...

Montreal 2000: Stone had so many issues with his guitar, I think he skipped Whipping if my memory is good
Toronto 2005: After Ottawa, it was hard to match that performance!!
Toronto 2009: Don't know... didn't do it for me.
Ottawa 2011: Horrible crowd. And I think people were expecting the same magic as 2005!

BUT... I mean, it must be hard to keep on playing a great show every time, night after night! So, even if I'm complaining a bit, it's always a pleasure to see them. Can't wait for London ON this summer and please... PLAY TREMOR CHRIST!!!!!!!

First of all. All shows I've been to (only 7) were great!

In retrospect Pinkpop Festival 2000 was the "worst". It was the shortest show of them all (of all the 2000 shows), they were (weirdly) scheduled to play before Live (who were the crowd favorite) and Moby and the expectations of festival audience were way to high because of the legendary 1992 Pinkpop gig.

The best was probably Antwerp 2006. It was their first show ever in Belgium. The crowd and the band both were really into it and "Black" was magical. Hunger strike was great to hear at that time but sounds awfull on the bootleg (because of the wolfmother dude).

Philly 4 was a great experience but our seats were pretty bad (tenclub) since they were all the way in the back on the highest row of the upper level.

I guess Manfield, MA 2008 Night 1 just because it was a really short set and I did not enjoy the state of Massachusetts at all. Sorry to all who live there. But that venue while impressive looking was not a welcoming or enjoyable venue (particularly the staff). And the stupid curfew made them play for less time than any other show I have been to. They did open with Hard to Imagine which was freaking incredible though.

Albany '03 was by far the most mediocre show I've been to.

I was at Albany 2006 and it was a fantastic show but the crowd there was totally dead! It was the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen!

Every show since they've had that a keyboardist on stage.. Hahahaa.. Just kidding.

Tim Robbins' 2 songs took a bit of the flow out of the shows at the Fabulous Forum in 2006 (still good shows though). But the band was super tight in Diego a night or two before the Forum - the band always plays really well in SD.

As far as crowds and setlists being dull and ruining a show, I don't buy that. If you let that crap get to you, I don't know what to say to that - It's ALL about how well the band's playing. The flow of a setlist is important, but whether or not they played rare songs, a greatest hits show, et. al. is kinda dumb.

I was at the Indio show in '93 and some say that made the show suck but it was great (again, super tight). Same w/ San Berdoo in '00 - I've read fans commenting that the bonfire(s) on the grass pissed-off the band or some BS like that - that was an excellent show, maybe the best I've seen them play.

After seeing them in Las Vegas 2000 for the 10th anniversary, my next show was 8 days later in Sacramento, CA at the Sacramento Valley Amp. I took my brother to his first PJ show and it was so freaking cold that it was hard to enjoy the music. It hurt to even clap to the music. He thought they would play 10-15 songs and be out, but was in for a rude awaking when they played 23 songs (one of the shorter sets of 2000). I was disappointed they did not play longer that night, but I agree that it was too cold for my liking. The following night's Halloween show at the Shoreline Amp made up for it.

    Amazing boot though!

    Manchester 09 maybe.

Eddie looked in a pretty bad mood and the place was baking (and I mean BAKING) hot! Mike just started stripping off and the heat generally made for a pretty uncomfortable show for the band and crowd I think.

Im from Mass and I cant argue with you , that fucking curfew has fucked with their sets there since 2003, it is beautiful there and i love the inside, its smaller than your avg ampitheater i think but its a pain in the ass. I am relieved whenever i see they are playing the Boston Garden

That 08 show was off to a awesome start it was fast paced and energized but between the curfew and the fact that ED got pissed about something at the end of the first set... the show ended very abruptly... THe 2nd show there was great tho... curfew still cut it short tho.

Vote for change Boston 1 2004.. KNew it was going to be pretty political but it was vise versa, Eddie went on a 20 minute rant about some guy on death row And it made the experience not so enjoyable.. Also the setlist want the greatest and they where a little sloppy but it was the opening night of the tour so I'll let it pass.

I def enjoyed the 2 boston VFC shows, i liked the 2nd one more but i agree with you in general that overall I dont think those VFC shows were that great... I dont think they are comparable to any of the other Boston shows we are talking about... But i will say the 2nd VFC show had ALONE and I got a Feeling... cant discount that!

I rarely/never post, but I felt compelled to say Birmingham, AL 2003. Outdoors + freezing cold + Ed sick + American flags being handed out by a radio station to show how much more "American" attendees were than PJ (war in Iraq was just beginning) = awkward/terrible atmosphere + PJ playing one note for an encore and running off the stage laughing. Not hard to understand why they haven't really toured the South since.

Yeah you are right the arena was a really impressive looking place. I was too broke to afford to stay another night for day 2 so that would have likely made the expereince better. If I ever see a show in Mass again I will have to go to the Boston garden I guess.

Agree with the person who said crowd behavior at Lolla '07 made it hard to enjoy the show. That was my least good experience.

Camden 2 '03 is not among my very faves but I did think it was pretty awesome at the time & still enjoy the boot.

I thought Copenhagen '12 suffered a lot b/c with Ed sick and last night of the tour and a long trip from Oslo the night before, he sounded pretty shot.
