  • The gods of rock and roll really came through for me. When the gods decided to thunderstorm all over Jones Beach in 1992 and force the cancellation of Lollapalooza (Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Ministry, Lush, etc.), I was pretty upset with them. Knowing they were kind gods, however, i forgave them and they repaid me by allowing me to be a part of 2 of the greatest concert experiences... PJ MSG 7/8/2003 and PJ E Rutherford 6/3/2006.

What a show! A lot of the pics are a bit blurry, but i got some great ones from the side of the stage toward the end of the show.

Can I ask an honest question? Why are the PJ fans from Boston so protective over their shows? Seems like everyone had a great time at ER 2 except them. It just appears as if they are trying to pour cold water on what was a great show b/c they feel that for some reason the Boston shows have to be the best on the east coast leg. I wasn't at Boston 2 so I can't compare and it certainly appeared to be a great show, but why try to downplay other shows that seem to have been likewise excellent?

Then again, neither Brian Cashman nor Omar Minaya were invitied on stage for ER 2. Maybe that would've taken the show to another level.

i really think it's myself and womanofthepresenttense who are dissing east rutherford... and it's because from our perspective the crowd was lacking... that's all... our seats were in the back and i'm assuming that was the problem... i could see everyone on the floor and it didn't look like they were rocking out but i didn't worry about it...

and since everyone else is loving this show then i've come to the realization that it was my seats ... but that doesn't change my experience

real witty with your theo/sox slam ...

That is because of the 'Boston Fan Complex'. They don't understand that PJ shows are not sporting events and we are all on the same team for this one. Not to mention the inferiority complex they have to NY.

is the Boston Fan complex why some guy in a Yankees hat gave me the middle finger and a wise comment in Jersey about my Boston hat?

there are idiot fans in both cities

and what about the yankee chant i heard in the parking lot? boston fan complex again??

here's a newsflash... Boston does not want to be New York... we're different... we know... we're glad ...

Just curious but why would you wear a Red Sox cap to a concert in NJ? I think its goofy to wear any sports team hat to a concert as well. There was a guy wearing a Red Sox Varitek jersey as well. Just struck me as odd.

fair enough...just seems to be a recurring theme where all shows are for some reason compared to the Boston ones. i'm sure they were great.

i actually think theo's a pretty good guy and I respect his PJ fandom. it's just kind of amusing to an outsider how everything in Boston seems to include the Red Sox in one way or another.

Ok...so this was my first Pearl Jam show of my entire life and I have been craving to see them for the past 5 years, however for whatever reason, the opportunity never presented itself until last Saturday.

What an amazing show, by such talented individuals. This was the best show I'd ever seen in my entire life, and even though I had the absolute last row in the building, I doubt I could have had more fun if I were sitting 64 rows up. The place was electric, the guys were electric, and the songs were electric. Best moment of the night for me was Black when we all sang at the tops of our lungs, but the best song for me was Alive. Every song was marvelous, but these stood out as something very special.

Thanks to everyone in attendance for helping make this one of the best experiences in my life.

so this show topped off a great 22nd birthday week (storytellers on weds my bday on friday) anyway.

i found the show to be amazing. the set list was terrific. were i was standing the crowd was ridiculous...crazy energy. i was section 121 row 4 on stone's side. i am still wondering which show was better msg 1 or this show i'll call it a tie for now until i compare the boots.

i had the perfect view of the stage and all the lads. i stood up for mmj bc i have come to truely enjoy their music and wanted to show apprication.

pretty much its all been said how great it was and the music. when the power went out we all kept singing the 1,2,3,4,5,5 part and then it hitall of us that something wasn't right and we just all stood there like wtf ahha it was pretty funny i didn't find it to be a killer so we all just kept cheering and screaming. ed lite up mike and jeff disappeared for a bit, and stone did one of infamous stoney g dances to matt's beating of the drum which you could barely hear before the power went back on. which kept me cheering. i guess where i was standing i didnt hear the difference of the volume of the music after they continued.

durning crazy mary boom looked REALLLLLYY tired after him going all crazy it was funny and he was even laughing at himself. loved ed trying to pick up mike and then finally succeeding. towards the end ed came over to our side and did a little crazy dance for us which rocked.

so thats pretty much it. loved every second of it even the songs i hear at every show i still love...YL is the way to close it i think just to be like ok people be on your way you can go home now we are officially finished...

THANKS to the band, crew, 10c (my seats keep getting better and better!), and all the rocking fans who were around me, thats the kind of energy that makes a show memorable!

only gripe I have/had was opening both shows in NJ with the same 2 songs in a row. That was a little weak...other than that, night 2 rocked very hard. SOLAT was my highlight when I snuck into the 5th row for it real quick...

it was raining out... i wear a hat when tailgating in the rain

and actually i had another hat in the car and switched to that one to avoid the idiots

jerseys i will agree with you can be odd... but the hat is just a hat... you probably wear some beanie type thing from banana republic don't you?

i listened to the boot and what i perceived at the continental arena holds throughout the boot, definitely the loudest crowd of the first leg

the constant clapping, the voices over eddie, the energy is totally there in the soundtracks

it helps that is not an open venue, tho

this is one of the reasons i prefer an indoor venue - all that energy squashed into that small place - makes for more intensity.

I'm not going to bother reviewing the whole experience song by song, so I'll keep it short and sweet.

First, Joe, Matt, Sarah and Tim, it was good seeing you all again, apologies for the disappearing act. Let's not be strangers.

Second, I got pwned by that show, plain and simple. Toledo was at the top of my list for straight up rocking out, but it has been replaced easily by NJ 2. I have never been so exhausted after a show like I was Saturday night.

Third, please, please, please come to the South after Europe/Australia. Please.

On top of a great show, tailgating in Lot 22, section D next to this Victoria Secret model made for pleasant viewing:

I don't understand some of the fanviews in this thread... People either LOVED the show or they HATED/Were Disappointed in the show for 2nd night NJ.

I was on the Floor, Center Front Section, row R.

WE ROCKED OUT! I look around the Venue at some points during PJ concerts, and despite it being not as loud/busy sometimes during this show, it still rocked.

I'd have to say it was one of my top 3 fav shows outta the ones i've been to on the first leg of the 06 tour (see sig).

i don't see how anyone can say the crowd "sucked". i was in 115 right behind the stage, standing the whole night. from what i saw, i didn't see one person sitting down. the crowd looked to me like they were into it the whole night.
