Had another Mohs surgery done yesterday (upper back between neck and shoulder). When I cleaned it and re-applied the dressing, I got my first good look at it. I basically reiterated this thread title, but not so much due to pain- in fact it is only a bit uncomfortable- but more for the way it looked. The good Doc removed layers of skin to remove the basal cell carcinoma and, I swear, you could lay a nickle in that divot and run flesh colored take across it and never have a clue there was a coin there. But no, obviously I did not do that! Just some Aquaphor and a sterile dressing.Remember to use sun block, folks! This skin cancer business is not what I would call "fun" (but at least so far it is controlable!)."It's a sad and beautiful world"-Roberto Benigni0

Goodness me Brian, it sounds like you had a lucky escape thanks to the treatment from tbe good Dr. I hope you are recovering as it all sounds a bit nasty, a bit like some of the photos in this thread. Wishimg you all well!brianlux said:Had another Mohs surgery done yesterday (upper back between neck and shoulder). When I cleaned it and re-applied the dressing, I got my first good look at it. I have to say, I don't think you've lived until you've broken a tooth at the beginning of a three day weekend and have the amazing experience of waiting days to get it fixed. You know, it's one of those visceral experiences that just screams, "I'm Alive!" Why, I would be willing to bet Eddie wrote "Alive" under a very similar experience. I feel so damn lucky right now I could just...

I somehow scratched my cornea last night. It was so painful I could barely open my eye. It felt like I had a rock in it. I didn't know it was scratched until I went to the doctor today. I have to use antibiotic eye drops for seven days. Worst part is that I can't wear my contacts or any eye makeup until I get the ok from the doctor. Anyone who knows me, knows I like to rock a good eyeliner. I go back on Tuesday - hopefully it will have healed up a bit by then. It's still really red, but at least the pain went away. I still don't know how I scratched it.

Sorry to hear that - heal up quickly!
I took a small chunk out of my cornea, once.

Thankfully it was not hot but it hurt like the dickens. I started to feel wet around the eye and I figured it was tearing up, but when I went into the bathroom to check it out the fluid was...well, red. I really freaked out for a few minutes and then got myself together and drove one-eyed down to the ER. They did the same as for you- cleaned me up and gave me antibiotic eye drops. That was actually my third cornea scratch, but the worst one. The first was when I was a kid. My brother and I were heaving dirt clods at each other and one of his hit me in the eye. The other time was while subbing a middle school gym class and I was hit in the eye by a basketball. Weird that something that big could scratch a cornea, but it did. It hit hard enough such that I went down and the kids just kept on playing around me as I lay on the ground. At least none of them stepped on me, lol."It's a sad and beautiful world"-Roberto Benigni0

Wow. Glad it all worked out well. The eye seems so fragile but I guess it can take a lot. I just don’t know how I did it. I suspect I rubbed it too hard with my contacts in because the pain just started suddenly and I could not open it very well. It was also really red and watery. My first thought was pink eye but it wasn’t sticky. When I went to the doctor the first thing he told me was that some new strain of Covid presents with a red eye. They gave me a Covid test which was negative. Then he did the whole thing with the dye and the black light and saw the scratch. Besides it still being quite red all the pain is gone today.brianlux said:GlowGirl said:I somehow scratched my cornea last night. It was so painful I could barely open my eye. Twice in one week does not sound like fun. Thanks for the good vibes. They must be working because when I woke up this morning the pain was gone.lastexitlondon said:I did this twice in one week with sand. It's very painful. Good vibes your way GG0 -
My son got a bacterial infection from a contact lense and nearly went blind in that eye he had 1 year of very expensive drops and many trips to Moore fields specialist eye hospital. He never wore them again. Worrying times

I am glad he is ok now. I have heard that can happen with contacts so I am very diligent. I wash my hands before I put them in and take them out. They are daily disposables so I don’t have to clean them. I have a new clean pair each day. I also don’t sleep in them. I will just have to be more careful about rubbing my eyes with them in. But I know there is always some element of risk with wearing contacts.lastexitlondon said:My son got a bacterial infection from a contact lense and nearly went blind in that eye he had 1 year of very expensive drops and many trips to Moore fields specialist eye hospital. They said it was from tap water getting on them. I didn't know the dangers.

That can happen if the tap water gets trapped between the eye and the contact. Some people also try to rinse them with tap water if they run out of cleaning solution. That is why I like the disposables. You are also not supposed to shower in contacts. But I admit I am guilty of that at times. I just try to keep my eyes closed tight if I put my face under the shower.lastexitlondon said:They said it was from tap water getting on them. I didn't know the dangers.0 -
I literally almost broke my neck last night. A neighbors dog was barking at around 12:45 in the AM, so I went into the next room to shut the window. I had a little light from my cell phone to see my way but I didn't see a box in the middle of the room and tripped over it. I went face first- legs up behind me, belly to the floor, and the upper half of my face hit the mattress on the extra bed in from of the window. When my face hit the mattress it snapped my head straight back and mashed my glasses into my face. I have full head movement so I don't think I did any serious structural damage to my neck- at least I hope not- but my neck and upper back are rather sore and tight today. I managed to bend my glasses back into shape enough to use them, but they need to be replaced.
We knew a guy who fell and hit his head on a coffee table and died, so I'm lucky it was a soft mattress and not a hard object. Not a pleasant thought...
Time for more Ibuprofen...
