Fucking sicko. I literally wish death on that asshole of an officer.  I hate that my daughter lives in a world that a dick head like that could do something like that to her. Good luck to the police apologists on this thread justifying this one.
Why do you assume people would defend this?
There is a massive difference between this example and the majority of other stories that include grown men.
I doubt you will see 1 person defend this. I believe most departments have policies against restraining children, and his use of force on her is indefensible.

The police department has already made a statement in the officer's defense

I thought it was about a 10 year old girl at first. Still very bad being a 14 year old boy.

Do you have a link? I’d like to see what they said. I haven’t seen anything, just the PD giving some background info. Which I don’t think was smart. At this point the only statements should be “we are investigating the incident and our policy is to not comment further about an investigation.” Then if/when the cop is fired you can add some comments.

My observation in the cesspool known as Twitter is that the rate of defending this was less than usual.  There were a few...this is to be expected in this hyper-political divided time.  Some people will defend cops under any circumstance imaginable; and I'm sorry, but particularly when the victim is black.  It's almost not about this cop and this kid, but the ideological war we're in.  It's like admitting this is wrong is somehow taking a step toward validating the other side.

I made the mistake thinking the victim was a girl as well, because from the angle of the video it looked like it could be my 8 year old daughter..  Either way a grown man beating on a 14 year old boy for having a swisher sweet is fucking out of this world ridiculous.  Also I read many of the replies and there are alt right (klansmen) trolls out there saying the kid shouldn’t have resisted arrest 🤦   On another note we had an officer killing of a minority citizen here in Austin last Friday. Police abuse is out of control in the USA especially against minority citizens.

I typically ignore the extremist views, they represent such a small minority and will always exist on every side.
Do you know more details about that incident? That’s a pretty broad claim to make without the details. Not saying there aren’t unjustified shootings and incidents, I just don’t jump to that conclusion without learning more about it.

Probably suicide by cop but couldn’t there have been a less violent outcome?

Society is lucky cops even get out their cars anymore to deal with a nut bag like this to question why this armed offender was put down...I want to say Thank you to this officer for his bravery and service.  Go home to your family knowing you won the fight and that there are still some citizens out there Who have your back and would never Monday mourning quarterback the life or death situations you have to deal w/ during your tour.   Always better to be judged by 12 then carried by 6....

I feel bad for the cop.  I’m not saying it’s his fault. Just think there should be better ways to de escalate a situation like this. Non lethal weapons. Something.

Better to shoot up someone's house when you already have the supposed suspect in custody, killing a person, than it is to be carried by 6

At least that is what some people will say.

These cops and their chief should go down.
How do they raid a house when the suspect is already in custody?

It is ok, because they were disposable people.

I truly believe a large segment (44%?) Applaud this result, regardless of any facts.

    Sad.

Probably the Minneapolis PD once the police union steps in and begins litigating the city.  I would be More surprised if the cops actually had to pay for their crimes.

The odd thing about this arrest is that from one angle you see one one officer on the victim's. However, it was was actually 3 officers that were holding him down. One on his neck, one holding down his mid section and the other holding down his legs. So this man was going absolutely nowhere. Why was it so difficult to check his pulse once he was not moving for minutes on end.

I would like to know what led to them having to hold him down handcuff behind his back  by three officers. Btw, did I hear that one officer blocking the view say to those filming "don't do drugs". As if what they were doing was somehow justified.

About 10 years ago I moved back down to the Twin Cities and lived with some friends of the family for a few months while we looked for a new place to live. The place I stayed at was on 14th Ave, which is about 6 blocks down from the store where this incident occurred. A running joke we had as friends was the name of the store, Cup Foods, instead of Cub Foods.  I remember driving by there everyday on the way to work. We would take family walks in the neighborhood in the evening with our then 2 year old and head over to Powderhorn Park for playing or just some of the events they had going on there. One of the great things about that area is it's diversity.

I haven't seen the video because I don't have Facebook, but it sounds terrible. It's hard trying to wrap my brain around what those officers were thinking as this was happening. They clearly didn't comprehend the situation and their actions appear to have led to the death of yet another black male being detained. Whether or not he was under the influence does not matter when it comes down to if he should be alive, but I do think it made a difference in how the responding officers handled the situation. It's unfortunate the poor decisions we make as humans that at the time don't seem like such a big deal. What a fucked up mess .
    It's a hopeless situation...

I wish they filmed from the beginning of this.  The man who died was resisting, so the cops had to subdue him because he wasn't going quietly.

Once the cops get engaged it's like a switch and it's real hard to just shut off.

Should the cop had stayed on his neck?  I don't think so, optics aren't good on that.

Should all 4 have been fired?  It saved the city so far and not rioting so yes but, the cops went without due process.

It's an ugly situation and nobody is winning.

If I am wrong and there is more footage and more to the story comes around then I can be swayed.
